Mm I originally posted this over in the poll thread, but here looks like a better place. These are my thoughts, constructive comments welcome.
Frankly IMO most of the forumers here are not the target market. The target market are those who are already heavy users/maxis subscribers.
I'm getting one, simply because the upper tier plans are more or less superior to my current value plus 250+unlimited data (RM99). So I'm paying RM349 per month (yeah, my usage is insane), let's compare with i-value 4.
I-value 4, I pay RM375 for 2500mins (RM250 of calls@10 sen/min) and 3GB data (RM125). So compared to my current plan I'm paying RM26 more a month for less-than-unlimited data. But I don't use 3GB of mobile data even, it's more for convenience. So we discount the less-than-limited data factor la.
Now, if I sign up for a 24-month contract, I'm basically paying RM26x24months+RM260 (upfront fee) = RM884 for an Iphone 3G 16GB. And remember the RM26 per month is over 24 months, so you have to discount it slightly for the time value of money. According to my math (IRR=5%) that makes it around RM840. Seems like a good deal to me.
Though I already have a HTC Touch HD, looks like my gf is getting an Iphone for her birthday. Oh well =p

QUOTE(bearbearhong @ Mar 13 2009, 05:24 PM) something poped up my mind...since iphone will be here in bolehland, can we send our iphone from oversea for warranty claim? I recalled they accept warranty claim for oversea Ipod products rite? correct me if i was wrong...thanks! From Maxis's terms and conditions: "Maxis' support to iPhone 3G is strictly bound by Apple's warranty and repair policy. Maxis will only support devices purchased from Maxis and/or its authorized channels only." So yeah, Maxis will not support overseas Iphones. No idea about Apple though I doubt it.

QUOTE(leonloke @ Mar 27 2009, 07:53 PM) Just to add, I went to Maxis today to get a n iphone for my wife. They have make some changes in their plan now......Advance payment not necessary now. Are you a Maxis customer in good standing with 6 months or more tenure? If so, they will waive advance payment. If not, I'm surprised, that seems risky for Maxis.

QUOTE(phsoon @ Mar 29 2009, 08:29 AM) Do anyone know that Maxis Official unlocked iphone 3g are pre-configured with Maxis APN? Mean when you change to other telco, you cannot change APN(Access Point Name). so you cannot use internet services. Someone mentioned this in an earlier thread somewhere. IIRC, Maxis Iphones are preconfigured with Maxis APN. However, when you insert other telcos simcard the APN settings page reappears and you can configure your telco's settings.

If you really need to make/receive calls overseas, buy a local SIM. I was a consultant for a major firm, and I travelled quite a bit. Suffice to say I have a lot of horror stories la.
Nokia - can we have the ayamas set C story again pls? =p

As stated previously, when using a Maxis SIM the APN is preconfigured. However when you use another carrier's SIM the APN settings page reappears.
