Yup, now that's what i call a positive mentality! You are definitely one class ahead than those ....... (insert any relevant terms here)

Seconded. It's harder to make buying decisions based on the best value, rather than on the lowest price. Consequently, most people are unable to do it.

i think the contract says that if a person terminate the contract , they only need to pay rm100 only .

but the info that we get earlier ( forgotten his name ) says that with his internal contact confirm with him that it is rm100 x ( how many months left in the 6 months contract ) ....

so , which one is it ?

i also booked mine already , got the sms and email confirmation this morning .

btw , the methods that i use to count is a lil bit difference. i'm a value plus 50 user in maxis rite now.

assuming i spend rm 80 per month and i'll use 2 years calculation as a benchmark.
assuming if i take ivalue1 for 12 month, the calculations is,
2290 ( 16gb Iphone ) + (100 x 12) + (80 x 12) = 4450

so the total amount of money that i'll be spending in the 2 years duration is 4450.

now for the ivalue1 for 24 months plan,
1890 ( 16gb Iphone ) + (100x24) = 4290

total amount for 2 years = 4290

for the value plus 80 in 6 months
2960 ( 16gb iphone) + ( 80 x 24 ) = 4880

total amount for 2 years = 4880

ASSUMING THAT EVERY MONTH I SEND OUT 300 SMS.

for ivalue plan1 ( 12 months plan ),
2290 + (100 x 12) + (80 x 12) + (30 x 24) = 5170
total amount for 2 years = 5170

for ivalue plan1 ( 24 months plan )
1890 + (100 x 24) + (30 x 24) = 5010

for value plus 80 ( 6 months plan), we dont need to add the rm30 inside becoz the sms is included inside the rm80 plan.
2960 + (80 x 24) = 4880

so i think in the long run, it will be better to use the value plus plan. on top of that , u can also add unlimited access into that plan, which will not limit anyone on how much data they have every month.

do correct me if my calculations is wrong.

Yes the ValuePlus plans are more worth it. Please do note the iValue plans does not include SMSes. Hence, for every SMS sent out you will need to pay under the iValue plan.

the absence of SMS usage to be included in the iValue plan is the reason why i'm not willing to commit to the iValue plans. was thinking of subscribing to iValue 100 at first but that really puts me off. do hope Maxis will revise their plans though.

Maxis postpaid has Value Added Services - 500SMS for RM8. Not sure if it's applicable with the iValue package.

listen... no one is taking a gun and pointing it up to your head and subsequently forcing you to purchase an item which you do not want.

let's face it; there is no doubt that apple products are slightly towards the premium side. or else why are they being featured so much in hollywood movies, take that for an example.

the metaphor to this situation is pretty straightforward - beemers are relatively more expensive locally (compared to many countries; yes, now observe the similarity). right... just because i cannot afford a bmw 3 series (when it probably cost approximately the same as a honda civic abroad), am i gonna throw a hissy fit at bmwgroup malaysia/sime darby/the extortionate duties/sluggish AP system/the-deliberate-action-by-bank-negara-to-depreciate-the-ringgit-to-boost-up-the-trade-surplus for shattering my prospective hopes of owning a beemer? that's just down right childish and not to mention naive.

hence you are not happy about it, stop moaning and just move on. besides if your burning desire to own an iPhone is that strong, just go ahead and purchase one from the GC or if you wanna scoop yourself even lower, proceed with a locked unit and use the artificial unlocking method (either yellowsn0w or a sim card adapter). no one can EVER tell difference, apart from yourself.

this thread is dedicated to the first ever iPhone arriving at our shores (after the two agonising years wait) and not a maxis bashing thread. besides, has any of you realised that the fact of the skyrocketing price could also be motivated by Apple's own greed as well? (as seen in South Korea, where the COE of the major telecommunication there blatantly accused steve jobs of playing hardball?)

in conclusion, why don't we just concentrate in helping the rest of the forummers who are actually interested in getting an iPhone from maxis and also pointing out the miscellaneous terms and conditions imposed in the contract. LYN is after all a forum and not a place to shower your hatred towards something. period.

By the way...sorry if I have miss something, since the thread already come up to 33 pages, is this Maxis iphone locked to Maxis? Or it is unlocked to be used with any telco?

The Maxis iPhone, as stated earlier, is officially unlocked.

Seconded. We dont need the iPhone section to turn into an ugly mirror of Kopitiam. Let's keep some standards to uhpold to here, people.

Cash, Visa, Mastercard, AMEX or Diners. I posted the info earlier.

IIANM, you only pay for the subsidised cost of the phone, depending on which plan you're subscribing to. Whether the CS decides otherwise and wants another payment of ONE month commitment fee at registration, I dont know. That info we will know on the 20th.

Anyway i do apologise for ranting. I reckon it is the australian water (as seen in a few of LYN forummers based here; those who know me will understand this joke better tongue.gif) which is creating this emotion.
But no worries, i'm not gonna play the whirlpool-forum card yet...

the girl cakap, this epal phone is tied to maxis till august, then they will review, if its good, then continue, if not, epal may switch telco

on another note, the current user for 6 moons and rm 250 commitment means u must be using maxis for 6 moons, and the value plan u sign up must be rm 250 and above, meaning value 3 and 4, only than the deposit can be waived
