QUOTE(PeeEl @ May 2 2009, 05:59 PM) Well, to know, you either read from the beginning of this thread or you go to any Maxis centre and have a chat with one of their customer relations officers; and then decide for yourself. Cheers. The reason that I ask coz lot of ppl said it's not worth to get Maxis Iphone plan when launching. For me I don't actually put more attention for that, so I have no idea whether it's good or not, just help my brother to ask.

IMHO, there isn't much alternatives to ponder upon here actually; either get it from maxis or a parallel import unit (unless you are in a country where there is more than one exclusive network provider) you don't have to be a genius to decide actually: 1. if your monthly average consumption is almost equivalent to one advertised, then go for the maxis bound unit.2. if you are loathe the idea of having an iPhone without any warranty, then go for the maxis bound unit. This post has been edited by nokia2003: May 2 2009, 06:53 PM

I got the SG unit coz I feel the Maxis plan is a rip-off and i'll take my chances with the warranty.

I think I will go for the iValue 1 plan.... 1 year contract... than I switch plan... the plan is not that good after all.... Does not include sms and I will have to pay extra for the sms, RM0.15/sms ... Though, there a extra value added service where you pay RM8 for 500 sms (Maxis to Maxis)... Going to get one this coming week....

I dont call , but now I call people and sms them - using up my minutes for the sake of doing so ! The 500MB data is worth it for google maps and for emergency internet usage !

Me hoping to get one too at tomorrow's KLCC roadshow (according to Maxis website). Gonna take the iValue 1 for 24 months since I've been with Maxis since my first handphone. My current usage is around RM50 (without using any data) so RM100+ a month is pretty fine since I get the 500MB on data too. But I feel the 24 months a bit long though. Probably should top up RM200-300 for 12 months contract.

So if I were to sign up for iValue 100 Plan, I've to pay RM1910 (8GB) on the spot during registration for the first time and pay RM100 monthly? Is that it?

Is that it? yes. however, there will be a prepayment fee of RM200 (for 12 months contract) and RM400 (for 24 months contract). unless your monthly commitment is RM250 AND has been Maxis customer for more than 6 months. the prepayment will be credited back into your bill throughout the first 5 months of your tenure. as quoted from rate plans T&C: Advance payment is waived for existing Maxis Postpaid customers with tenure of more than 6 months AND current monthly commitment of RM250 and above. Advance payment will be refunded from the 1st month onwards over the next 5 months. The account must be active at the time of refund.

Guys! Happy to join you all as users/owners.
I went to KLCC Road Show and finally got myself one. Apparently they waived the prepayment requirements and I don't have usage of RM250/month either. However, I have been using Maxis since 1999 (almost 10 years) and my usage is around RM100+ for many years now. So I took the opportunity of the savings to get the 12 months contract. I realize 12 months is safer since 24 months is a bit too long for a contract. So I guess they also check into your overall account and payment history.
Everything seems great and it works out of the box. Fully understood what I got myself into since a new model will be launched shortly but luckily iPhone OS 3.0 will add more functionality to it. Although it is at its end of life product cycle, its price has kinda 'devalue' (I mean by Maxis's offer). By the way I owned the iPod Touch (1st Gen) so there's nothing to learn for me. It felt second nature hehehehe...
