This is the latest ATM policy I'm talking:

New! Maybankard Bankcard service charge

Effective Mar 26, 2009, Maybankard Bankard cardholders (ATM Card) will have the option to choose between unlimited free ATM cash withdrawals for only RM8 annually (per card) or maintaining the existing 4 free ATM withdrawals per month; with RM0.50 being charged for each subsequent cash withdrawals during the month.

All you need to do is to fill up the Maybank Card ATM Form (ATM56) at your nearest Maybank branch and your ATM card service charge will be updated accordingly.

Side track: Couple of weeks ago, I went to KLCC Maybank (newly opened near KFC) and inquire about this and Form ATM56. They search high and low, call here and there, after 30 min, cannot find the form, ask me to go back to MBB KL Main doh.gif <vomit blood>

Guys ... can we skip all this talk about ATM cards and return to the main topic please ? There has been too much activities on this subject already and the sidetracking are very obvious.

And please ignore CSS if he/she opens up this ATM subject again.

Thank you

1 month after public bank approved my hire purchase, then i received their gold cc, delivered by hand to my house.

is that 'normal'? i didnt applied for the cc. perhaps they use my hire purchase application & automatically applied for me? n using my ic intended for the hire purchase indiscriminately to apply for the cc? hmm.gif

Unless you have above RM5,000 balance remaining in your Maybank Savings, which gives you free unlimited withdrawal using the default...

Back to the topic on credit cards, just wanted to release some gas  happy.gif

I did a hire purchase with PBB and yes ... in the many stack of forms, there's also the cc application form. The agent wiho processed my form said that the card is preapproved (make sense coz the bank have all your income documents in the first place - similar to a typical cc application process) but I told the guy that I'll be declining the card.

BTW I never receive any cc from them till now. Not to jump the gun, you could call the CS and ask them how did this card arrive without your application. You could tell them that you wish to be certain your documents are not being used fraudalently and I'm sure they will entertain you if you are persuasive enough. On the safe side it is better to be sure as if it is really true that someone within PBB is using your details without your knowledge, you could act to inform the bank (and manybe police) to ensure such bad practices will be halted.

After certain period, you can close it for free right?

Not with Public Bank. Other banks will let you close your account for free after 3 months from opening. Anyway, wouldn't be a problem for me as it is the only local bank account i'm holding and will never close it. So i won't have to worry about being charged RM10 biggrin.gif

It is a complimentary card for borrowing money from them. They offer a Gold complimentary credit to most of their hire purchase and home loan customers. My aunt has one.

Im an expat. I tried to get a credit card in CIMB and the lady at the counter told me something about Fixed Deposit of 5000 Malaysian Ringgits once my application has been approved. I asked her to explain to me what the fixed deposit is for but I dont think she speaks english that much:( I was hoping someone in here could explain it to me clearly.
There are other banks don't need you to do have a time deposit with them. Might as well try other banks.

im guessing a cc agent can easily earn lots of commission if using this tactic, without prior knowledge from loan applicant.

You have to inform them in writing, informing them verbally would not work or accepted. Look for a sample in the 1st post of this thread.

Some banks practice product "cross marketing" and it makes sense for them. I'm not saying that I condone such practices but what is more important is for consumers (e.g. cc users who read this thread) to be aware and take necessary steps to prevent fraud. You think the bank are going to care if you call them up and cry "ethical or not" ? Heck, they want to make money ... they are not charity !

Depends on the staff processing your application. Certain staff will ask you if you are interested applying for a EON Bank credit card while some won't even bother to ask.

So far, I didn't charge for processing fee. Maybe the merchant (Dell and Harvey Norman) absorbed it.

Normally the merchant will absorb it. If I'm not mistaken, MBB charges RM70 to the merchant per installment plan.

I am going to apply for one or two credit cards, mainly use for paying utilities and petrol. Anyone can recommend the best? If possible, one card for both the purposes mentioned would be great.

Thanks!

first, maybank wont charge u for using 0% installment plan

normally merchat wont charge u any fee provided they are selling their goods with RRP.if they are selling below RRP,sure they will charge u like 4-5% extra base on their lowest offer price

When I bought a TV last year with MBB 12-mths 0% installment plan, the price is absorbed by the merchant. I asked and recalled he said the fee was about RM40-60 hmm.gif
