Hi not sure if it's the right place to ask. I'm looking for a place where you can stroll around and rent bicycle with a nice view around in KL or selangor area, can be reached by public transport.. Any suggestion?

Oh an air matress. Not cheap thou if you want a good type. It depends on the thickness and the weight of the air mattress. Are you willing to fork out around RM800+ for one?

Cheap but heavy. Can try to find those at AEON, especially at Mid Valley. I think it is located at the First Floor near the toilet inside AEON.

Other cheap option will be a yoga mat. Trust me most opt for this as it is cheap and light, but you would not able to get a comfortable sleep throughout the night as you could feel the surface.

Why not camp somewhere cooler like Cameron Highland? You provide the transportation for me and I will be your guide to those mountains. LOL smile.gif .

WOAH!!! i might take you up on that offer! but now rainy season, better stay put smile.gif
so i went outdoor shopping today at Explorer Outfitter, Publika.
love the amount of things they sell there
many choices, from expensive rm200++ waterproof socks to (maybe as good as original, yet to try) china products.

they sell many of their products with their explorer logo on it, was tempted to buy but not yet.
bought the sleeping mat at rm64.90, one 3litre akona dry bag rm37 and one microfiber towel rm29.90.
sleeping mat seems fine at 900g,
yet to test the akona dry bag and towel, will do it when i get it back from neighbour who pinjam to see-see.
towel seems like the sea to summit towel which i have so i can test the new one to see if it is as good onot...

soon...

now all i'm left is a 2person tent rclxub.gif

I heard people did within a day completing both Korbu and Gayong. 6-7 hours seems a lil adventurous I would say.

They have a large range of selection but not the choice the choice I am looking for. I prefer to camp comfortably and most of the things for camp I already got.

I would not dare to mention that there is waterproof socks. Just imagine if you want to wash your socks and the water could not soak in properly icon_idea.gif

Dry bag you can opt for Hypergear - quite cheap too.

Normally if you opt to have a 2 men tent for 2 person to sleep, I will advice you to get the 3 men tent so that you have space and able to sleep comfortably with your sleeping partner.

I normally choose not to hike this period as it is monsoon season. Best time to camp will be month 2 onwards.

So you think 12 hour up and down using ulu kinta trek is doable right?

Since I stupidly register for korbu challenge and I hope I can make it in time.

How do you transport in? By 4WD or trek in? Trek in required at least another an hour.

It will start from the dam I guess. so basically 7km (road) > 10km (climb up) > 10km (climb down) > 7km road

In your experience you think 12-14 hour can complete this?

I never climb korbu thus got no idea.

Appreciate your input in this.

Based from the map, seems like it already indicated that you are running from the starting point to the intake (Ulu Kinta dam). I think can be done since you are not carrying any heavy bags for camping. Do take note on the river crossing. Few incidents of hikers getting stung by hornets (yellow jacket) happened here. I am not sure how the organizer going to take care of that.

I can understand why they decided to pull out. It is too risky for someone who might be unfit to do Gunung Korbu. As mentioned earlier, if you are to start from the river crossing instead of the entry point, you could save at least 2-3 hours there. Of course the hassle for the organizer will be hiring lots of 4WD to transport in and out. Normally will get the lorry - can fit in at least 20-30 pax smile.gif

That looks really good. So relax and can enjoy very good scenery. Sometimes I just wish malaysia has that kind of trail. Where you can just walk and enjoy the view.

You have calculated roughly the cost and time for th trip?
