I heard people did within a day completing both Korbu and Gayong. 6-7 hours seems a lil adventurous I would say.

So you think 12 hour up and down using ulu kinta trek is doable right?

Since I stupidly register for korbu challenge and I hope I can make it in time.

How do you transport in? By 4WD or trek in? Trek in required at least another an hour.
*
It will start from the dam I guess. so basically 7km (road) > 10km (climb up) > 10km (climb down) > 7km road

In your experience you think 12-14 hour can complete this?

I never climb korbu thus got no idea.

Appreciate your input in this.

Based from the map, seems like it already indicated that you are running from the starting point to the intake (Ulu Kinta dam). I think can be done since you are not carrying any heavy bags for camping. Do take note on the river crossing. Few incidents of hikers getting stung by hornets (yellow jacket) happened here. I am not sure how the organizer going to take care of that.

First time hike gunung korbu. Definitely very tough. And the total distance is more like 50km!

That looks really good. So relax and can enjoy very good scenery. Sometimes I just wish malaysia has that kind of trail. Where you can just walk and enjoy the view.

You have calculated roughly the cost and time for th trip?

I just got myself a

1) One Polar Triclimate Jacket (using Toray Delfy Fabric)
2) A featherlight windproof/rainproof jacket
3) Salomon Sensa Mantra for trail running and hiking (tested out on some trail but need more testing on slippery rock for the grip)
4) 140 lumen waterproof headlight
5) Another Streamlight LED torchlight for spare
6) Walking Stick
etc etc

I guess there goes my list of gear for my KK hike...will i over prepare for the trip?

Why do you need to get a waterproof headlight Zen?
*
Actually I would like to find a good headlight. Not really waterproof. Looking around its hard to find one with at least 200 lumen with around 10hours battery life. You have any suggestion?

I'm interested in zebralight h600 but don't think it's available here in Malaysia.
