Any sifu can tell me whether it is possible to upgrade tube firmeware to V20 by just using Phoenix and firmware file (like RM-356_APAc_20.0.012_V4.0_5800xm.EXE) so that no need to go to NCC or use NSU? Just like dead phone flashing.

QUOTE(aspire2oo6 @ Mar 4 2009, 05:15 PM) no offenses, i had been playing with all range of hifi devices & speakers since i was young particularly influenced by my dad. from vinyl records players (16 2/3, 33 1/3, 45, 78RPM) to SACD / Audio-DVD.. from tube hifi to digitial hifi... been listening to all range of music and ... Classical, Jazz, R&B to hip-hop and trance music. I'm not saying that XM is the best... but definitely beats a lot of so called music phones hand downs. Well... ipod is not really that good. |

through the original headset... ipod nano is the best... the quality of the music is powerful and good.. but sometimes the mp3 files that has 128kbps and higher bitrate... 5800 XM is the best |

Well normally a Dedicated unit will beat the All in One type. Same goes for the Camera.

QUOTE(aspire2oo6 @ Mar 4 2009, 06:11 PM) Maybe a pairing issue? Some IEMs are quite picky about their sources... And the clear as day X3i (for it's price bracket anyway) can and will show clearly imperfections in sound (where percieved or not, everyone hears diffrently, true?) coming from the source... In other words, maybe the analytical (quoting ClieOS here) sounding X3i is just making the flat (so says the people in Head-Fi) sounding, un-EQed Tubie sound crap flatter then it already is... Maybe... And until some crazy Audiophile shoves a good (yet easy to drive, some GREAT IEMs are near darned useless on mobiles unamped) Higher Class IEM into the 5800 for some serious auditioning (Westones? UEs? IE8s - or are the IE8s hard to drive?), we'll never really know... EVEN THEN, again SQ is highly subjective... What is honey to one guy can be tar to another... BUT, everybody deserves to share their opinions BECAUSE of that... I'm still waiting for my "fun" sounding Bijous to come over... Hopefully it would not sound like crap with the 5800 (after some serious burning-in of course, I've heard that it needs what, 300 hours?) to my SE Megabass (muddy as it may be) trained ears... i wish 5800 XM is better or else i can leave my ipod at home.
Honestly i own both and i dunno are u guessing but i tested it side by side Ipod + X3i Accurate bass and clarity. 5800 XM lack of bass and not very sharp like cheap DVD This just my opinion I compare not stock earphones i tested with SHURE and Crossroad X3i tested on tube then on ipod. Somebody needs to poke a well amped IE8 into this thing and tell us if it sounds okay...
But seriously, do we really need to debate how the 5800 sounds? If it sounds good to you, then okaylah... It's pretty much too subjective IMHO, unless you go do an equipment based test like the people over at GSMArena.com did... Even then that's pure numbers only... Xpressmusic or not, it's a Phone first, music player second... And even there it's supposed to lose (by default) to it's N bretheren (lower price, confirm crappy sound)... Although we CAN blame Nokia for false marketing (and for that matter lets BLAME SE for the same thing)... And aspire, I (at least) DO value your opinion on this... Seeing how you did poke the X3i AND a Shure into it for testing, which is admirable in itself (I would have just poked my HPM70 into my 5800 and tweaked the EQ to my liking... Malas weh...)...
