QUOTE(Eiraku @ Mar 4 2009, 06:46 PM)
Maybe a pairing issue? Some IEMs are quite picky about their sources... And the clear as day X3i (for it's price bracket anyway) can and will show clearly imperfections in sound (where percieved or not, everyone hears diffrently, true?) coming from the source... hmm.gif

In other words, maybe the analytical (quoting ClieOS here) sounding X3i is just making the flat (so says the people in Head-Fi) sounding, un-EQed Tubie sound crap flatter then it already is... sweat.gif

Maybe... And until some crazy Audiophile shoves a good (yet easy to drive, some GREAT IEMs are near darned useless on mobiles unamped) Higher Class IEM into the 5800 for some serious auditioning (Westones? UEs? IE8s - or are the IE8s hard to drive?), we'll never really know... biggrin.gif

EVEN THEN, again SQ is highly subjective... What is honey to one guy can be tar to another... BUT, everybody deserves to share their opinions BECAUSE of that... biggrin.gif

I'm still waiting for my "fun" sounding Bijous to come over... Hopefully it would not sound like crap with the 5800 (after some serious burning-in of course, I've heard that it needs what, 300 hours?) to my SE Megabass (muddy as it may be) trained ears... brows.gif

Totally agree with you.
Best earphones doesn't always produce best results on certain devices.
Pairing plays a very important role too.

Just to ask, what cans/plugs are you using on your 5800? Would be good if we can find OK sounding combos for the Tubey... biggrin.gif

Just my personal nicknames (sorry if it's unclear) for headphones - the big ones (cans) and IEM/Earplugs (plugs)... biggrin.gif

Was on Bijou before, with around 60 hrs of burn in. Not very good on the 5800XM, but incredible on my Sony Walkman. Just bought a cheap Shure SE102 for my 5800XM, burning in now. smile.gif

60 hours? Try 150 hours OR if possible 300 hours... Seems the dynamic drivers on the Bijou is a bit degil... sweat.gif

And which one are you using? 2, 3 or 4?

And a bit unfair to compare the Sony to the biasa-biasa only 5800 lol... I hear that some Sony Walkmans can make stock earphones sound good (joke, joke)... laugh.gif

But yeah, it might not be the best pairing the Bijou and the Tubey... Will try out my pre-burned-in Bijou 3 (malas wanna burn in sendiri, hopefully it's burnt in for 100 hours already) when I get them and update... hmm.gif

Cheap SE102? How cheap?

Hoho... 300 hours... better leave my Bijou for my walkman lah. haha.

SE102 is the cheapest Shure available so far, I got it for RM225 brand new. Not cheap to the normal person, but cheap as in "hey it's a RM225 shure" cheap.

Added on March 4, 2009, 7:50 pmonly 1 hour burning in, already sound better than my Bijou(BTW it's a lvl 3) already... sweat.gif

I had an X3i before as well. And X3i IMO sounds a lot better than the Bijou... That's why I'm a bit regretful after getting the Bijou.

You guys sure are real Audiophiles with anlytical tastes... SE102/SCL2s, X3is... laugh.gif

I'm an unsavable, tone-deaf, consumer-grade basshead (although I do appreciate the IE8, heard a friend's once... crazy kaya the guy)... sweat.gif

An FS Atrio M5 wouldn't hurt either, although it'll sound like crap unamped with the Tubey (AND I don't have the money for it asso)... sweat.gif

True... In 2008 ALONE I think I spent over RM300 on replacing my HPM70s alone... Problem was, the headphones didn't spoil... It was the blardy Fastport connector... sweat.gif

Thus I got a Nokia XM with a 3.5 jack... thumbup.gif

in layman terms, what burn-in does is like you buy a new pair of shoe
it doesn't really fit very well neither does it feel as comfortable as an old pair of shoe.
but after awhile, as you wear it, it will get more comfy ^^
the sound of the earphone will get better as they are used.

Cheap ones i do not notice there is such thing
