yes true but what if the batteries are still as stupid as today

no point gettin high capacity memory card  whistling.gif

just my 2 cents icon_rolleyes.gif

Actually flash memory cards do not take up battery (ok, maybe just a bit). It is non-volatile, unlike volatile DDR RAM in PC mobo). Therefore, there is no big implication on the correlation between battery and memory card.

i think what he meant was that batteries of today wouldnt allow the 'true mobile entertainment system experience' because the current battery capacities would only allow for a short period of entertainment usage before running out of charge

The biggest hurdle for wireless devices are batteries, whether is notebook PC, digital video/camera, h/p, mp3 player, etc. The size, how long can last, durability over risk.

yeah maybe that's why sdxc won't go into mobile phones like cute boboi said.. it's quite useless. small screen, lower capacity battery etc..
*
SDXC will go into mobile devices in future, and that includes cameras, videocam, and h/p. Next generation h/p will be at least Full HD @720p, bigger screen, touch screen, etc.

Anyway, battery is still the biggest hurdle in technology. Processor, Memory, screen display, wireless technology, etc. all have advances many times, but battery is still lagging behind very far. Do you know how old already is Li-Ion or Li-Polymer technology and we are still using it today mainly ?

If there are cases of Li-Ion exploding on notebook PC and h/p, imagine if a fuel-cell h/p blow up laugh.gif

Or put under hot sun, which you may not be aware. e.g. Driving and put onto the h/p holder stuck to windscreen.

You want to a longer battery life at that risk ? whistling.gif

I think the viable solution have a decently high powered solar charger  thumbup.gif

Yes, might as well a mini-nuclear power plant battery. It can last longer than your h/p laugh.gif
E.g. on marketing material: Buy a battery that can last you three mobile phones! No need to recharge for 25 years!

But then, no. People will use it as mini-hand grenade mini-nuclear bomb during riot, instead of throwing rocks/stones. doh.gif

Added on April 3, 2009, 7:44 pmAdd-on marketing material: Circum-navigate the earth 5,000 times with your N82 in-built GPS on our nuclear-battery without recharging. laugh.gif

How accurate you want ? hmm.gif What's the difference if you have 20% or 30% battery left ? Or 60% or 80% ? whistling.gif

Or you are interested to know you have 24.5% or 24.7% battery left ? doh.gif

u dont understand me..and i dont expect u to. have u used your own SE before? at least the100308 understands..

nokia batt meter tends to show 80% when it's at 70% or lesser.. maybe the batt is at 5 bars...and then suddenly go down to 3 bars.. why? cause it's not accurate in detecting batt life.

charging to 80% but batt shows 100% life..u get the idea
*
doh.gif Go read from battery-university website and google on Li-Ion battery and technology. That's how Li-Ion behaves. If you have time, then proceed reading Ni-Cad, Ni-Mh, Li-Polymer, etc. and its distinctive features (advantages/disadvantages).

Nokia and other devices, including notebook PCs using Li-Ion behaves the same way. e.g All the notebooks when left idle, between 60-100%, it says can last 2-3 hours. Then when drop to <60%, it goes down very fast.

Anyway, sometimes I get p!ssed off with Li-Ion battery indicators also. When check, shows full bar, but is actually just a bit above full bar. Go outside halfway, the battery drop 1 bar. doh.gif Then already know the battery will not last as long as I want.

So, nowadays, I charge daily Mon-Fri in office, even when it drops one bar. tongue.gif Sat-Sun sometimes do not charge, or charge 1 time only.

My battery still strong after >1 yr. Not yet degrade too much. Original authorised Zitron set.

does anyone know is there any aftermarket battery ~ 1500mAh
smile.gif if got i dont mind buy it as spare... coz original batt is really weak 1050mAh

or mayb other nokia model which is compatible ~ E Series??
*
I'm not aware of any 3rd party Li-Ion battery with higher capacity. hmm.gif If original, that would be more expensive than original authorised nokia battery. Maybe 1.5x-3x more expensive due to small volume manufacturing.

If there are 3rd party brands, normally from China, I will doubt the quality, the charge retained and the purity of Li used. The purity of metal/alloy used will affect the battery charge and life-cycle. That is why certified ones are much more expensive, due to purity of the metals. Like gold 999.9, 999, 915, etc. Another similiar ones are Uranium isotopes. Normal purified uranium are only good for normal nuclear reactors. You will need highly purified uranium for weapons grade material.

This also explains why cheaper AP or fake battery will not last long after charge and also will wear out faster.

QUOTE(alpha_company @ Apr 8 2009, 03:33 PM)
yeah...new batt if charged even if it's not fully drained is better right?
*
Li-Ion has a general 500 times life-cycle charges. It is not advised to drain until complete zero or too low. When it starts beeping low-batt or a few bars, you can start charging. There is no memory effect or need to charge/discharge cycle.

500 times ? if my battery are 90% , i charged it to 100% .
That consider charge satu kali ka?
*
Official count, yes. But with advancement in Li-Ion and better purity, this will have lesser effect as counting as one cycle. There are some arguments with a person keep on plug-in and pull out the charger for 500 times with a completely new battery. doh.gif

Therefore, it is not recommended to plug-in charge, then pull out with incoming calls/sms, then plug in again. If continuous do like that several times a day, over 1 year, it is time to replace the battery already.

i do not know how if u heard of this, there r  alot of aftermart battery Made in USA biggrin.gif and most of them build for camera... no mobile as i know
and got very good reputation

selling at USD 9.90 (not including shipping fee)
got some of the forumer selling in "bulk" (jus in case u wanted to know RM50)
camera not mobile...
*
Normal AA rechargeable are Ni-MH or Ni-Cad. Those have about 800-1000 cycles.
e.g. Energizer, Eneloop and GP are Ni-MH type rechargeable batteries. How come some brands can retain the charge longer ? Again, it is due to the quality of material used -> metal/alloy purity.

Well, 3rd party manufacturer normally produce Ni-Cad (very seldom nowadays) and Ni-MH. Try look if the 3rd party camera batteries are Li-Ion ?

i not sure is this is a good battery  wub.gif
Made in USA, 5 years warranty, 1500mAh, Lithium-ion, 1000 rechargeable, no memory effect, USD 9.99 good reputation ebay seller

Sample Aftermarket Battery

Is this too good to b real??  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
1. The price is too cheap to be original. -> Less Li metal/alloy purity.
2. I suspect is Made in China. "5 Year Limited Warranty" (sic) -> should be 5 Years ?

Without going further on fake/real, I think no harm trying, but becareful about possibility of leaking/explode. tongue.gif Although original battery still have chance to explode, but is lesser.

But my view will be:
1) Initial few weeks/months of usage, the battery will perform as good as original.
2) After that, it will degrade very fast on a full charge.
3) Also, it won't last as long compared to original. e.g. after 1 year, see which one die first tongue.gif
4) Hopefully, it is actually same factory for the original OEM manufacturer. Then you are lucky thumbup.gif and the performance will be quite similiar to original.

Finally, all my SMS (about 10,000+ now) kills my Phone Memory (C:\).
Note: Not the RAM or Memory Card (E:\)

236kB Free Memory left only sweat.gif
But actual 10k+ SMS Messages takes up 5MB only. hmm.gif

I can't open or run anything without insufficient memory, please delete message errors.

user posted image

After I delete 4k+ SMS, I free up 17MB. Guess Nokia FAT for very small files are not efficient. Just like PC FAT16.

Delete another 3k+, Free memory = 15MB.
Still deleting now... sweat.gif

Added on April 9, 2009, 2:26 pmOk, finish deleting 90%+ SMS sweat.gif

I free up 46MB. thumbup.gif

Added on April 9, 2009, 2:36 pmWait. I just realised Messaging includes the Email boxes doh.gif

I got 3 mailboxes with 200-300 emails there sweat.gif

Clearing again... rclxub.gif

I tried to change SMS (Messaging) from Phone Memory to Memory Card. Halfway copy -> Insufficient Memory. Please delete some data... doh.gif I give up after several tries.

Maybe when I upgrade Memory Card to 16GB, I'll set to Memory Card and start collecting again.

Just bought one of these from the Garden's Nokia shop at the price of RM 1530.

Anyway, I'm very new to this, so I thought I'd ask:
When I receive or send messages they list the number of the person and only the number.  How do i set it so it's by name instead?

Sorry if it's in the first page FAQ, I looked through it but couldn't find it. sad.gif
*
Open the SMS message
Options -> Add to Contacts -> Create New
Enter the name, details, etc.
Done to save it.
