Go lowyat and sg. wang to survey and check.
So far no heavy/high drop for my N82. Always has casing for protection. Just installed GMXT 5.00.30 |

I notice my C:\ (Phone Memory) left 7MB free space (total 125 MB used). I do a memory check, and the files, sounds, video, SMS, etc. only takes up about 25MB. Then I use Xplore and check the C:\ usage (all the visible SYS, System, Private, Resources, etc.)
When I total up, it is not even 40MB. 125 - 40MB = 85MB used for what ??? Note: already clear the web cache. |

I use some few layers of thick stickers/blu-tack to cover half of the flash to reduce the red light when taking close-up indoor pictures. Peel it off when need full or outside.

QUOTE(Eve2211 @ Mar 6 2009, 02:38 PM) But why do you need to block it as the red light will not be shown in the picture except the object you're taking have reflective surfaces? Yes, that's the problem. My images have very heavy red tinge and colour if focus distance is 20-40cm. I take a lot of close up pictures indoor. A pure white label becomes pinkish/redish Anyone knows any thesaurus software/database for n82? Thanks ^^ ![]() Yellow label reflecting red ![]() Even a pink envelope is reflecting a stronger pink in the centre |

QUOTE(cucubud @ Mar 7 2009, 04:48 PM) The red light is the auto focus assist light. Cannot be. I cover it up and still can take flash photo with accurate focus in dark environment. When the surrounding area is too dim, the camera cannot focus properly, so the red light come on to assist in focusing. If the area is bright enough, the red light will not turn on. QUOTE(cucubud @ Mar 7 2009, 04:48 PM) My camera is default Auto (Auto/Flash/Red Yee/No Flash/Off). Hmm, yeah maybe I should try Off. |

Ok, as requested.
Pic #1: Sorry, blur cropped picture as I take it too close to the mirror. Notice it is half-covered with pirated-blu-tack. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Pic #2: This is the pot-image without flash, taken at dark area (maybe too dark) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Pic #3: Now you see the marvelous N82 Xenon Flash. In this picture, the flash is partially covered with blu-tack. The stupid red-light comes out before picture is taken. Which means, without the red-light or obstructed (very faint), a focused picture can be taken. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Pic #4: Same as picture #3, but with blu-tack removed completely. Also has red-light before picture is taken. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Pic #5: Same pot. No flash, but with kitchen lights switched on. No red-light comes out. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Pic #6: Now, this is where it gets weird. Picture taken with lights switched on. No flash. No red-light comes out. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Pic #7: Same as #6, but with flash. Red light comes out. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « My conclusion: 1) Red-light does not help in auto-focus, whether in complete brightness or darkness. 2) The stupid red-light only comes out when there is flash Added on March 9, 2009, 11:50 pmAdd: The pot distance is about 40cm distance from lense. The newspaper is about 25cm. This post has been edited by cute_boboi: Mar 9 2009, 11:50 PM |

QUOTE(Eve2211 @ Mar 10 2009, 09:37 AM) Picture #3 and #4 do not have pink tint in it even though there's flash. Probably because the flash's too strong/distance slightly further as compared to newspaper. Maybe I should try the pot, with lights and with flash. Picture #7 highlights your problem, take that picture and show it while you take it for repair. You mentioned about no red light in some pictures, by that you mean no red light at all, or the red light blink for a very short moment while the picture is taken? Because for mine the red light is there every single time a picture is taken, it's just a matter of long or short period. Need to view again if the red-light is very short moment, or none at all. Definitely not long. I recall the red-light is there all the time, Asia product code is to have that red-light. Just long/short only. |

QUOTE(Everdying @ Mar 10 2009, 03:28 PM) like ppl mention already, your camera timing is spoilt. But, a separate thing is, the red-light is not for auto-focus or to help auto-focus, whether in dark/bright environment. I can still take sharp pictures with the red-light blocked.the short period one is so ppl will know u take their pic. u cannot do sneaky shots, cos ppl will see that red light for a split second before the camera shoots. same with the video, but for video of cos the red light is forever on. |

QUOTE(maba_ar @ Mar 11 2009, 03:13 PM) Thats the thing. I keep my phone in the pouch most of the time and today i lost 2 bars already. Hardly any heavy usage, just few calls and smses. I'm sure there is a gap between the pouch and your belt or pocket. Or try to put the pouch inside bag. If you notice the handset is mild-warm, it means something is activated, e.g. camera. |

I think my camera loading and default browser speed is still 99% similiar to new. The one slow down is the Menu, SMS Messaging, and Gallery.
