my v30 firmware Avaxx n79 is now at the Hello Station service center.

It started last night when i was listening to radio, the screen flickered to black and then returned to normal, then it happened again, then before i know it, the display blanked altogether.

Tried multiple restarts/battery pull, multiple keylocks, but still no return to function.  Call in, call out, receive sms, send, pc suite, Content backup all ok.  the LCD was the only dysfunction, strangely the backlight was ok.

Guess have to wait a few days while it gets fixed.  using my dad's spare nokia 5610 for now.

got it back. its LCD problem and they changed the LCD.

i thought LCD bonking out starts with some graphic corruption 1st. mine display disappeared totally suddenly.

Thanks smokey! Now that I have a place in mind on where to get the phone.. I've got a few questions about the apps.

I love the Gmail application! However, may I know whether the Gmail app for the N79 is able to download/ upload MS Office files? Is there any way that I can open and edit MS Office files on the N79?

Also, the seller told me that they would charge a RM30 fee if I were to ask him to install Garmin XT.. Did you guys install it on your own or what? smile.gif And I saw some forumers talking about some Malsing thing.. What does it do exactly?

I'm looking to install an IM client that can support both GoogleTalk and Windows Live. Saw earlier that someone suggested 'Agile Messenger 3'? Any comments? sweat.gif

There's so many applications that I'm starting to feel really overwhelmed! But I would really appreciate it if you guys could help me out with this. Thanks!

the gmail app have no problem downloading attachment, but i don't see any option to upload attachment

you need the quickoffice app to open ms office document, the premier version allows you to edit. i'm not sure if it comes with n79.

i installed garminxt on my own, search the web how to do it. garmin xt is just the application, you need the maps to power it, thats where malsing maps comes in.

i use Fring (free) to tie all my IM, supports YM, MSN, Gtalk. you can try nimbuzz or ebuddy as well.

there's a lot of apps, so just install a few first.. test it out..

if any of u bought AP sets, and doubting the battery coz of low than expected battery life, try Nokia Energy Profiler, it tells u the exact capacity of your battery.

I lurked around the E71 threads and theres a case of an AP set having only 600mAh battery, from the original Nokia 1500mAh. Surely his problem was the poor battery life in comparison to others.

Won't using the 'ahem' version, also have to connect to the internet for use? Which, if on the road, forced to use 3G which costs money.

Menu>Tools>Settings>General>Positioning>Positioning Methods

leave on only 'Integrated GPS' and untick all to ensure no data charges used at all.

Can't locate "General > Positioning > Positioning Methods" on my settings, though my signal there it is "attached/built-in GPS".
