Isn't it up to the insurance company which panel workshop to use? You mean you can appoint your own workshop?

D2R not B2R smile.gif Just curious though, why would you want to swap out a perfectly fine brand new HID bulb?

I think you're expecting too much from the customer service if you're looking for more than just a pat on your shoulder and an empathetic look on their faces. Cars get stolen everyday. You can't expect them to give discounts for every case right? Sorry for your loss again. However, it's better to move on and if you want to make a difference, upload that vid you were talking about and perhaps other Civic owners can learn a thing or two. I still don't understand how the basterds managed to get the doors unlocked via the boot. Still waiting for your answer.

My relative's 6mth old CRV was stolen from within the house compound! Nobody heard or saw anything, it happened in the dead of night. He's driving an FD2 now. The autogate is now padlocked for slightly better security, and there's a motion sensor in the car with a remote alarm that he keeps in his room.

A friend of mine is selling his Honda Civic EG8 for 18K (95 Register year) and the condition not bad. I wanted a car badly and im going this or a 1st hand viva though i dont like viva that much i prefer the civic only problem is im concerning that its a 15 years car and im afraid the spare parts is hard to get. Also im not sure if the civic can lasted long for the future without problems.

I need experienced fellow civic especially EG8 owners should i buy that instead of viva? regarding 2nd hand value i dont mind much since i plan to keep the car for a long time

What can you learn? As Honda explicitly discourage you to modify any parts of your car even for additional safety feature, their own OEM security is highly questionable. They can break in two minutes. So what can we do?

We pay so much to Honda and we don't deserve a better support from them? Cars get stolen everyday because manufacturer doesn't give a **** to their customer. Charge you heavily and give you crappy security then tell you don't modify.

When professional thief comes, then he has a smile on his face because everything is the same from the factory.

I will try to upload my CCTV video soon but you can't see how they can open the boot or the door. It just opened.

I do agree that stock car alarms are useless in most cases when dealing with high-tech professional thieves. You can only install steering and brake locks to slow them down. If you can prove that Honda's security system is crappy, do publicise the matter so every Honda owner will make noise. Since you already said that a pro thief is smiling cos everything is the same from the factory, it matters not if you have a high end system or a ciplak system. All they have to do is "train" with your car model. They will also be able to train with a Merc or BMW smile.gif In this case, I don't think you can blame Honda for their choice of immobiliser cos it won't make a difference smile.gif

2) when accelerate, can feel the engine vibration on the paddle==>adjusted (still same, duno what the hack they adjust)
3) bck roof loosen ==> all civic are like this vmad.gif (BLADDY HELL!!)
4) krer krer sound ==> n sound (this is subjective - due to road condition, i accept, but they shud fix above roof)

After I take my car, the next day I take it to upgrade the security alarm. I don't care what they threaten me.

But you have to do some homework what and which alarm system won't avoid the warranty.

I think you have to remember, the car that you pay over 100k in not worth 100k. The big portion is went to gov tax. The civic is just worth a milo tin.

Well I don't know whether you lost your car before but maybe you will speak differently when your new car is stolen.

Bro YapHong, I felt so sorry to hear about your case. My friend also lost his precious FD in April/May in front of his office at Puchong area. That FD is his wedding car somemore.

I'm so doubt why those thieves so active in this area, perhaps they are safe there? (if u know what i meant).

Really hope that you can share with us the video here.

Like I said, my relative lost his CRV. My friend lost his Satria on his first day at a new workplace. So although I don't have firsthand experience on losing a car it has happened to ppl I know and care about. So boo hoo, go cry all you want but if you have nothing to share except wanting a shoulder to cry on pls go elsewhere. How many times you want ppl to say sorry for your loss? I've said it a few times to you already. Not enough? Time to wake up bro. And it's not like you already spent a lot of money modding the car so you'll get back whatever balance after settling with the bank. Big deal.

If you want more ppl to sympathise with your loss, do the right thing by sharing so others might avoid such a sad ending.

Bro yaphong, really sorry for your loss. Don't think anyone can really empathize unless car having experienced car stolen before. If it's me, I will also feel bitter especially if new. Even now also I damn scared every time I park in office since it's open parking (not high enough in the corporate food chain to get a basement parking ;-)

While it's true the stock security is nothing to shout about, but to be fair, I think all systems are breakable especially if inside job where someone is familiar with the system. Honda does recommend the Cobra system as an add-on and I heard it's pretty good, doesn't void warranty also. Just that most people won't pay for it since it's quite pricey, but if you look at the compensation, it's not too bad actually with some special Honda-specific bonuses if car is really not recoverable.

So, a bit of individual risk assessment must happen when deciding on these things la. People who have secured parking at work and live in gated community may think not worth paying for it, but someone who travels a lot might need it. No difference than how you decide which health insurance to buy and what home alarm to install.
