yeah, a lot of forum members here actually work in sony or have frens in sony penang. so not surprised if they have some test units or prototypes for sale. Anyways, is this new X-sERIES manufactured in PG or Japan? how come no sony store in kl or pg have actual demo units to show?

All of Sony Walkman locally sold here are Malaysian made?

Are Malaysian made Walkmans distributed to other countries?

I see. So would the UI be the same as well? Let say between the models here and in Japan. Aren't the Japanese usually have their own preference in regards of UI?

The will be some changes to the UI according to your country. +- some function that might be unique to your country.

For example in Japan there're only Japanese for the UI language and there is also a built in OneSeg TV tuner. In Malaysia you wont have that function(you cant use it here anyway)

yaya. for example, the Japanese S730F series comes with voice recording mode replacing the Intelligent Shuffle mode on our normal S730F series.

also, the Japanese Walkman seems like can't change to another language though. this applies to both S & X series that I came across so far.

hi guys
i actually tried a demo unit in midvalley - was very surprised with the high Q finishing, especially the granite! very cool

in terms of audio - i turned off all the enhancements and it does seems like the sound is very flat....maybe becos midvalley is too noisy ? i dunno....or does this mean we have to turn on enhancement to have better audio quality

one thing i noticed, for the noise cancelling feature, you cannot use OTHER noise cancelling headphones with this walkman. i supposed you either use X series digital noise cancelling tech or your noise cancelling headphones/earphones.

I don't care much about digital noiise cancellation, because my IEMs provide better isolation + better SQ.

yep, the NC only works with the bundled MDR-NC22 (not sure is this exact model name or not).
the NC is particularly useful for those who frequently travel on plane, bus and train. i do agree that good fit provides good isolation, but there are the sounds that still can leak into it in that kind of situation, so the extra NC is quite useful.
anyway, SQ-wise there are other earphones that can beat the default earphone.

The NC function is said to drain the battery quickly.

Any iems, be it 100 bucks or 1k, would provide better SQ if the isolation/seal is good.

I went to play with this Sony X series walkman yesterday, the display unit at SOny Style in Time Square Plaza, too bad there's no song, only one actually but it's not the song that I like so I don't even bother to test the SQ, so I tried to play around with its other functions, first I tried the you tube and surfing net, I've to say that it's pretty disappointing, it took ages for the pages to load... so I closed the app and tried the photo app, the home button is very nice BTW, very nice to press in comparison to the iPod touch one, the photo viewer wasn't that bad, very nice screen display, after that I tried the video, the small screen seems to be quite a disadvantage for watching video, so I think if anyone of you were pondering btw an iPod touch and this sony x-series, if you're not so fussy about the SQ, iPod touch would be better the Sony for the functions, I'll pass with the Sony X-series, looking forward to the Zune HD now or iPod touch 3rd gen may be rclxms.gif
