Would like to know whether this Walkman can play ATRAC files. Would like to know the battery life too. If it is as amazing as other model's Walkman which is 36 hours, this player would be the best for its price.

Another shoo in from Sony... next is Microsoft. Can't these companies give up? Just bow to the king of the mp3 player. Don't rebel.

Yeah, who is the king of the MP3 player you are referring too?

I already played with this thing. Bloody damn superb sound quality with the noise canceling. I tell you, it's the best sound quality Sony ever produce. Really enjoyed listening to the music. Nice OLED screen, superb picture quality. Contrast is very high.

Cons: Difficulty in entering the web address. Site not found error prompt always appeared even though it' already correct. The touch button is too small and near each other makes it difficult. The website layout is 'misplaced'. i'm not enjoying surfing website on this thing.

Small screen. No screensaver. Cannot adjust the screen horizontally.

Conclusion: A very good video Walkman for those who really care about sound and video/picture quality. If you're an Ipod user or Ipod fanboy, this thing is not for you. biggrin.gif

I guess it depends on which Sony Style you visit? I was at Sony Style at The Curve and it was out on display....so i took my chance and played around with it tongue.gif

BTS store. Nice is it? Sound quality is superb for me. Set the equalizer a bit and the clear bass. And turn on the Clear stereo... tadaaa. perfect. But the scree is too small for web browsing. Don't bother to surf the internet with this thing. Login to LYN took me about 5 minutes. lol

thx man for the review...
makes me NOT want the X1000...
at least i could get the SR71A with the 1.5k for it... biggrin.gif notworthy.gif

Different people different taste bro, why don't you try it for yourself first before judging this thing smile.gif

And most of the songs in the X series (BTS branch) are low bit rate. I was told by them that a customer deleted/formated the unit and all of the original demo songs and video were deleted. lol. And the demo unit only 2 days displayed.

And the EX earphone (bundled noise canceling earphone) you can request them for trying purpose, don't think they would put that small thing waiting to be stolen. They demo it with NC500 (the noise cancelling headphone RM1499) and you can ask them to turn on an ambient noise created by a woofer beside it.

Sony CIC is the worst customer helpdesk in my opinion. Anyway Sony CIC and Sony Style has some differences. Don't confuse Sony Style = Sony CIC. Actually they're not same.

MTP is Media Transfer Protocol. The protocol is designed for music transferring from PC to a device like the Walkman. To summarize things that i have read, the protocol prevent the data corruption on the device by having an absolute control to the device. So basically, the Walkman don't do anything here, MTP does the job. If you understand what i meant sweat.gif

However, that is not the main purpose of MTP. The main purpose is firstly, to transfer data. Second is to transfer data.. safely. And by 'MTP taking absolute control to the device' i meant, the device 'feeds' whatever the MTP wants. 'Whatever' is something like metadata and MTP responds to that by sending back the data and say, "you pass".

Safely Remove Device isn't necessary because MTP controls the device totally. A thumb drive for example need to be 'Safely Remove Device' because there is nothing/some little things that controls the thumb drive. The thumb drive controls the PC but thumb drive is not a powerful device compared to PC. That's why data corruption may happen.

sweat.gif I hope i know what i was talking about. Something happened here, writing while rushing my adrenaline. Giving information un-technically, theoretically instead.

There is MTP in Vista but in XP, you need to install Windows Media Player 10 onwards in order to work with MTP.

I see. I never knew anything about MTP and to be frank, I couldn't care less before. Just being able to transfer my songs was already good enough for me.

But now I get a rough idea of what MTP is and how it works.

Thank you again for your explanation kind sir. Really, thanks a lot. smile.gif

Thanking is not necessary. False information might have happened. I hope somebody could argue with me. Oh wait, sorry, wrong room. It's a Walkman thread. Just enjoy your Walkman rclxms.gif

IS this X series support any lossless codec?
Bcos i c from the brochure, It didn't show that(except PCM)..
*
Yes, only WAVE. That's why i said they should have compatibility to play lossless format like FLAC an APE for the highest end model at least.

Theres someone selling x series for half price at garage sale. I wonder if its ori.

Normally that one without warranty. Directly from factory. I bought one of the Sony Walkman before here from a forummer, there is no warranty but i have no problem with my unit even after 1 year.
