QUOTE(bahathir @ May 6 2009, 05:39 PM) Ask yourself, what is the purpose buying DAP/PMP? 1) Sound ? 2) UI ? 3) Gaya, Mutu dan Keungguan? Fashion? 4) Functionality? To me, my main priority is the Sound Quality (SQ). Video/Visual quality? No... it still cannot match FULL-HD display. UI ? Why you need the canggih UI? I just want to listen to the sound with my ears, not my eyes. Gaya? Most of the time, I kept my PMP in my pocket Functionality? How many % of the functions that you have tried in your PMP? Something with Play, Skip, Pause, File list and volume control is enough That is my opinions when choosing a PMP. Thank you. Unless your HD-Display is an OLED display, even a FULL HD LCD is still no match for the OLED's contrast, color reproduction and viewing angle This post has been edited by Sieg: May 7 2009, 11:45 AM |

QUOTE(kamikraze @ May 19 2009, 08:16 PM) no la.. it seems similar only.. not same la.. >.<" I'll let you know what you'll get with the Jap version.i got friends stdy Japan now.. i think want ask her to buy it for me.. is that really Japan edition no English language? zzz worry if same like inside the replay.. Japanese version have only Jap for the interface language so it might be a bit troublesome if you cant read japanese, and the FM radio wont be fully utilize, the jap version you can only tune from 70something, 76MHz i think, to 90MHz, so for those channel beyond 90Mhz you wont be able to tune in. Jap version hav an extra OneSeg TV viewing feature which is useless in Malaysia |

mm, dun think so, I think you can get it as long as the freebies it's still available. Not limited to pre order I think.
But hey, at least they got freebies, whether it's for pre order only or not. Purchasing from japan gives you nothing! The only free service they provide in sonystyle japan is a free laser engraving of 20 words on the left side of your x series walkman |

Not sure about europe version, US version removed the OneSeg and added a slacker radio which also only works in their country.
About warranty, I have no idea about that. Even if we send it back to japan for warranty it would be silly to do that, all the walkmans are manufactured in Malaysia! Including the x series of course, why send to someplace far away when we have the factory in our own country Me thinks sonystyle malaysia should accept any repair of walkman bought from overseas Juz my RM0.02 This post has been edited by Sieg: May 20 2009, 11:35 AM |

lol
You're right, the burn in does make a big difference. I did another simple listening test yesterday. The detail level is GREATLY improved. I can clearly hear alot of subtle details I never noticed in the S616. The bass is also alot more prominent, the mid bass especially, although personally I prefer a more deeper tight bass presentation. The bass is very well-textured too. Vocal is kinda laidback, something I'm not really happy with, the background instrument are more pronounced. Separation vastly improved from the S616 albeit still not up to par with the Pico + SA5000 nature of dissecting the music Maybe this is the so-called Dolby-like sound from another review I read before. High's are cleaner and more sparkling, definitely better than the S616's high which I think is bit underwhelming, but still I hope for more in the treble part EDIT: toughnut, I tested the hissing at a quiet place, and there is a very faint hissing noise that is constant on all volume level, I plug and unplug the CK100 to hear the difference. But still the hissing doesnt bother me AT ALL since you need a very quiet place to really hear it. This post has been edited by Sieg: May 28 2009, 11:35 AM |

QUOTE(maxizanc @ May 30 2009, 12:08 AM) Cons: Difficulty in entering the web address. Site not found error prompt always appeared even though it' already correct. The touch button is too small and near each other makes it difficult. The website layout is 'misplaced'. i'm not enjoying surfing website on this thing. True, typing in the URL is really a PITA! Not only the typing system is a bit awkward, entering www.google.com gives you an error, you need to type in the full http://www.google.com in order to have it working;even when you switch the typing mode to URL!I hope they fix this in their next firmware |

QUOTE(bahathir @ Jun 2 2009, 01:07 PM) Last evening, I had a chance to play play the X1000 series at SonyStyle@Berjaya Time Square. This is my first impression after playing several songs in the unit for about 10 minutes. Mostly were hip-hop and pops 30/30 I was using my faithful PFEs, and sound wise,...... 1) WITH noEQ (Flat), Clear Bass : 0 (off), DSEE : OFF. Sorry to say, iTouch 2G noEQ and no enhancement is little better, 2) Clear Bass 3: Flat EQ. DSEE: On Nice powerfull bass, feel neither stressed nor underpowered, better than similar setups in iTouch 2G. 3) General sound characteristics. In one word: Dark. Clear bass, and good treble clarity. Mids/vocal is just so, so. Details were better than other low end Walkman NWZ series, which I auditioned previously. But, I love the dedicated play, next/skip buttons and volume switch. Very nice touch/idea. BTW, with PFEs, I had to crank the volume up to 30/30 to enjoy it, and no distortion noticed. So my initial verdict: For average users, SOUND wise, this DAP is VERY GOOD. If you have iRiver H1x0 + external DAC/AMP, then keep it, your setup sitll theBEST!!! I'ill buy the X1000, IF, I did not met the iBasso D10 and PFEs. Oya,, forgot 1 thing. If you buy the X1000, then you still can get a free external speaker (worth RW169). Thank you. Oh and I found that the X1000 seriously need burn in to sound good, from your description I can tell the unit you tested werent burn in for more than 60 hours. The dark sound is the most obvious point I dislike when I got it. But right now at near 75 hours the sound opens up beautifully, the sound is more toward neutral now. From what I heard right now I can feel that it's still not fully burn in. Maybe another 100~200 hour until they are fully burned-in |

You will only get a USB data transfer cable which also serves as a charger. You can only charge the player with your computer.

QUOTE(jasonlimjc @ Jun 8 2009, 09:38 PM) Oh man, you're seriously poisoned. Your wife might be your only saviour! Haha! The hissing is slightly more noticeable in the X series compared to my S616F using CK100, but either way you can only hear the hissing while your surrounding is really quiet, even then still you have to plug in and out the headphone to really notice the existence of the hissing. So it's almost impossible to notice it during playback, unless your music is really damn quiet I'm not really an expert in audio, but I've to agree with you that iPod distinctly lacks definition at higher volumes. It's rather obvious though in my opinion. That's one of the reason why I held back and waited for the X-series. I guess it's worth the long wait As for the hissing, I presume that it's there somewhere, since another owner noticed the same thing over a review in his blog. According to him, the hissing is less significant compared to earlier models, specifically the S-series. He also claimed that it isn't audible during playback. I would like to know if you picked up the hiss during playback or after playback, if you don't mind. Hehe. |

You're using headphones right? They usually wont suffer from hissing problem as they are not as sensitive as IEMs
Try using the bundled sony earbud, you should notice a very slight hint of hissing. And AFAIK, of all other lineup, your S series performs the best when in comes to hissing problem, it has the lowest amount of hiss. |

Maybe the production factory in Malaysia is struggling with catching up with the production of the X series. Cause from what I know this walkman is quite a hit in Japan. For the first few weeks it's constantly sold out
