Yup...for some weird videos, the video properties also koyak at times....video appears to be 16:9 during playback, but indicated resolution is 4:3.

To be safe, for widescreen video, (using winmenc) i just choose fit to width, for 4:3 video, i choose fit to height, and it's been pretty much smooth sailing so far.

Still looking for a proper convertor like winmenc that allows multi-threading, cpu priority choice and the various options. Super cannot adjust some options, and the encoding doesn't take advantage of multi-core processors. Allok is just too simplified and doesn't allow bitrate choice.

But nice to note that video bitrate doesn't seem to affect the video playback in 5800....so it's the choice of encoder that matters more.

yes, the bitrate wont have much effect, if u read my tips, try to use H.264 @ 550kbps resolution 400×224(also mp4 format), it give the best result.
many testing had done by other expert for our 5800.

Our tube seem to be special one and not widely accept other resolution/format (either wont play at all or just playing with sound but no picture). sweat.gif

Other nokia phones also subjected to the same problems.....in fact, our 5800's player is even more forgiving than the others...used n95 8gb, e61, 6220c, 5700 before...

400x224 you say? like that a bit wasting of the 640x360 nhd resolution isn't it? I usually encode from 1280x720 media.

QUOTE(jpaq @ Jan 21 2009, 10:55 AM)
I had an interesting and frustrating experience at the NCC at 1U yesterday.

I sent in my phone to fix the earpiece problem. Ok, went back in 2 hours and it was done. They told me they had replaced (???) the earpiece. Ok, great, new earpiece! Then they asked me to check the phone. So I long pressed "1" on the dialpad to call my voicemail to test the sound from the earpiece. The next thing I know, the phone shut down by itself! I was like, WTF?! I did it again (switch on fone and long press "1") in front of the NCC staff another 3 times, each time the fone shut down by itself.

So they immediately got the technicians to attend to this problem. It took them another 1 hour to fix the problem while I waited there all the time. Finally fixed the problem (the staff told me not sure what technical problem and they had 2 technicians working on it then!). Then I noticed the top right corner of my screen protector was peeled off a bit. Can't stick back properly again. Again, WTF?! But luckily, it was only a very little bit, so i decided to let it go. The staff told me it must have happened when the technician was checking the touch screen. Most importantly, the fone was fixed. Luckily the SP I bought was the Skool one and it only cost me RM18.

Then balik. This morning, took out my fone to give it a good cleaning and wipe down. Then only I noticed another problem, finger marks UNDER the screen. For the third time in 24 hours, "WTF?!" Dem frust! I am gonna go back today and f*** them nicely today.

Do that bro I am in BU oni brows.gif well i had earpiece prob too but one thing with me is i dont like others ruining my phone so i decided to DIY, removed my case with my nails, grounded myself and then used a lil screw drived to pry it out slowly, bent the both contacts properly and now its perfectly fine. I just used the info on the front page, 100% no scratch watsoever on my tubey wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif
