Shopping with the wife yesterday and walked into Granoff at Gardens, was quoted RM900 for a cotton shirt, RM1200 for linen. RTW is RM450 cotton... is this their "normal" pricing.. or do I look especially rich (or the Chinese would put it "waterfish")?!

On another note, I noticed superfine (120s) alumo cotton wrinkle so badly (unlike some, i dont like my shirts wrinkled) i'm leaning towards linen... is this common or its my fault again..?

On another note, anyone have strong opinion about NON-pleated pants? While i feel it looks 'cleaner' when standing up, its severely constricting when sitting down, and I spend most of the day doign that.... any tips and tricks around making a nice fitting pants without pleats while not putting my manhood in a vise?

You shouldn't be feeling anything close to constricting when wearing pleated pants.

Just sent a shirt to a mystery alterations tailor to shorten the shoulders and take in the chest. Yes shoulders. It will be my first experience farking with shoulders.

Added on January 14, 2011, 12:29 pmBought striped shirting. Stripes are 1.2'' wide. Would definitely crush Jeremy's BE Red flat.

I was asked what kind of oak nut shirtings to buy. Here is my reply.
*********************************
A length of oaknut shirting would cost something like RM150 after including postage costs.
You should stick to the 36“ material, and more specifically, to the Grange quality. This quality
contains everything a man needs and happens to be the best quality poplin at the lowest
price that Acorn makes. Here are some suggestions for choices within this quality.

Dressy/calm/funereal
Wear shirts of understatement for Big Days: Job interviews, newspaper interviews, weekly
team meetings, meeting with senior management, meetings with certain clients.

Grange Iris
Everyone needs a pale blue shirt. Pale blue goes with everything and is appropriate in every
situation.

Grange CC Pink
Pink is a fresh colour and very appropriate for men, even in formal situations, unlike what
some may think. Notice the prevalence of pink in the Grange quality.

Grange HC Grey
Light grey is a calm colour. For days when understatement is best. Being devoid of colour –
it’s monochromatic – makes for a change from the usual blues and pinks.

Grange Ecru
Plain white is often too stark and suggests too much formality. Add a bit of cream to the white
and you get ecru: a warmer, more congenial colour that is as versatile as pale blue.

Bold/colourful/contrastful
On days when you do not anticipate big meetings with balding men, you can wear more
characterful shirts.

Grange HC Marine
Navy bengal stripes in various gauges have been a wardrobe staple for decades. However,
its high contrast makes for a bold statement. It doesn’t look sweet, it doesn’t look endearing.
It looks powerful, assertive and masculine.

Grange AZ Pink
This particular cloth borders on the FU from the point of view of men. Women, OTOH,
absolutely love the stuff. A pink puppytooth with a mid blue windowpane overcheck.

Casual/FU
For Friday casuals, for weekend wear, for BBQ nights.

Grange BE Red
Worn more in Italy than elsewhere, this is a highly distinctive pattern that is fun and playful.

BG Pink

Large scale ginghams in pastel colours are a modern take on the prep. They are almost
never seen in Malaysia. Requires less courage to wear than BE Red.

I kinda expect such line of answers hahaha...

But becareful, you might be accused by some mods of trolling and "counter trolling" (whatever that means). sweat.gif

@Dell2011, if you actually read thru the thread, you can have a fairly good idea on how logn it takes to make a suit at the various tailors in town. A little homework helps.

What makes you think that I'm trolling?

I had a suit in the making since last year. Multiple fittings and multiple requests from me every month. I am very indecisive when it comes to things like these. It should be ready by now.

I think he called it "reverse trolling". Despite being the most accomplished troll of all, I'm still trying to figure out what that means.
