y does my 3G symbol near the signal bar has a in/out arrow like it is currently being used for something? aren't it supposed to be only the 3G lettering?
is my 3G connection ongoing? but there is no active connections at the connection manager. elp! elp!

means your 3G is sending and receiving data..i hope you're on unlimited data plan..or else..if you're not using 3G, change your network mode to GSM..

how can i off this then? so that i wont have to swith for GSM and UMTS mode everytime. pls elp elp

i advise u to compress the video format b4 you dump it into your phone/card's memory. 

erm. that only allows u to choose dual mode/UMTS/GSM. but the thing is, my 3G connection seems to be always on since there is that arrow sign under the 3G lettering. if 3G is not in usage, only the symbol 3G is there rite? there should be no arrows underneath it rite? elp elp

Go Menu -> Settings -> Connection -> Packet Data -> Packet data connection -> Change to "When needed"

Looks like you are on 3 Mobile I got mine from them, but did not get the 1GB data package deal, so I have to pay extra for the X-series package.

OK, so here goes :

1. 1GB or 1000MB approx. is quite a lot to use on a phone. I cant really give you a good estimate, but you can check your usage on your phone. Go to Menu -> Log -> Packet data. (Be aware that 3 includes downloades & uploades in the 1GB data plan, so you should sum up the all sent & received data figures. Also, you should reset the data once your billing cycle ends so you can track your usage for the month.

2. If you have wi-fi @ home, you can do so. All you do is click on WLAN Scanning at the bottom of your home screen and it should detect your home wi-fi network. If you're on the go, you can switch to your 3 mobile's 3.5G connection.

3. You do get charged for sending and receiving emails, but you dont have to worry about it since you get the 1GB data plan, sending & receiving emails dont take up much bandwith. Again, you should check your data usage for a better estimate. Once you get past the first few days of checking your usage, you should be able to get a good estimate.

4. Looks like you have push email enabled. Yes, you are always on the net but you wont get charged seperately if you do not exceed the 1GB data limit.

5. Garmin is a GPS software, supposed to be pretty good. Unless you really rely on GPS, you dont need to bother. I personally like Google Maps, as far as Australia is concerned, its very much accurate. Your battery life will suffer if you have push email enabled. I tried it and I find that I dont get stellar battery life.

I'm thinking of getting one of the shileds too. My E71 is currently wrapped with a white RM7 silicon case. And the other day I took out the phone from the case and my fren said "Waahhh...so nice your phone...". They only noticed after I took it out. So now I want the invisible shield, or the Martin one.
