I normally use 50, to get a good picture of what's really happening.

The funny thing is, when the telekom 100 support guys do a ping, they do a ping default 4 times, and proudly says no problem!!

I always have to teach them the -n 20 trick. and then they're like Oooohhh !! Saya nampak packet loss!!!

Using ping -n 10 will do. It should show packet loss if any. At most -n 20.

If everyone ping -n 50, TM will think there is a DDOS attack and pull out the cable...
*
Also, TM wont pull the cable, but the server you PINGED may consider a DDOS attack.

The server you pinged will be the adversely effected party, not you.

Anyway, for a real DDOS attack to happen, u need like hundreds and thousands of PCs pinging the same site at once.

1 pc ping a million times also another pc can handle

About my remark on DDOS, I guess my subtle sarcasm may have been lost... Yes 32 bytes won't do it, yes you need massive amounts of data. My point was we are talking about TM, who knows what they will think - was taking a jab at them...

TMnet Techie 1 : whoa, full 128kbps upload speed from this user!
Tmnet Techie 2 : OMG It's a DOS, with our connection it's impossible to reach that speed! cut his line!
User : What the? Why my counsterstrike disconnected?

That's the best I can give back tongue.gif TM requested an email with my ping data yesterday, and they've just replied to it just now.

Well, another call to TM and it seems the BRAS problem has been fixed. And when questioned about why there is still slow connection, they tell me that the technical people has confirmed there is an international link issue. But I get the impression that the relevant dept in charge of solving that only work office hours?? So keep waiting...

So someone go ahead and call TM and ask if there is slow connection problems currently. I wonder if they will say yes or no?

it was just an excuse for TM to cool down ur complaint. The next time u call them ask BRAS is fixed, why line is slow they will give u another "problem"/excuse.

Actually, there really was a BRAS problem. The slow access was there before and after the problem.

I had a call from the Service Recovery Team about this. I am still having long ping times and packet loss to certain US sites especially. Can others update here on whether things are still slow now?

All I wanna say is 60.50.xx.xx and 60.48.xx.xx is basically not working. It lags like hell and now is officially a POS IP.

I depend on these 2 IP to connect to playstation network on my PS3 but now it aint working. These are the only IP I will not lag when I connect to my Singapore friend.

118.100.xx.xx, 118.134.xx.xx, 115.100.xx.xx etc are rubbish IPs.
