actually, i'd imagine it'll be a pretty simple stuff just to restore the pre break, routing configurations.

IF they have a backup and restore plan in place, it'll be pretty standard stuffs won't it?

QUOTE(mylinear @ Jan 7 2009, 04:35 PM)
Things are not settled. Although better than when there was the cable cuts, it is not entirely back to normal. There are international sites having ping times of over 500ms which normally is approx 250ms. There is packet loss to some sites.

I have reported this to TM. We all need to co-operate on this. A supervisor in TM is now aware of this thread and hopefully it will be passed on to the technical department.

So please, Streamyx users still having slow connection, post some info. Maybe the IP you are connected to, the ping results to slow sites. Keep it simple and professional please. I have provided them 3 IPs in various parts of the US currently having over 500ms ping times. Please continue to provide more info.

Also, if you haven;t done so, please spare 10 mins or so and call 1-300 88 9515 and make a complaint and get a report number. The more of us complain, chances are better they will see there is an actual problem. You can also email help@tm.com.my and make a report.

Hi, who's the supervisor you mentioned? I'm fed up with talking to the level 1 support guys girls who don't know nothing and worst still says only Europe websites are effected. It's like they're in a coconut shell.

I'd like to talk to knowledgeable people inside tm too, at least it doesn't feel like talking to a wall.

Pinging CNN, 100% packet lost

Just to quell any conspiracy theories here, we're in corporate line, and it's still slow as hell.

Who's the TM contact that one of the posters here said he got in contact with?
I'd like to speak with him too. Awaiting TM technician to come down our place now.

US sites are still badly effected, to various degree.

The current service interrruption in the Klang Valley is due to problems at TM BRAS/BBRAS (Broadband Remote Access Servers). This is causing the network issues at the moment. Supposedly thousands of customers are affected by this.

Added on January 8, 2009, 2:57 pmeltaria, what did they say was the problem?

I went through the entire ping packet loss, tracert routine with the 100 girl that answered my call.
I told her and two other 100 staffs specifically that US server connections are totally wacked.

She got talk with her supervisor also, and they did acknowledge that they're still recovering from the SeaMeWe 4 cabling fault.

I pressed her for more information, but she can't provide me anything.

No promise date of fixing it, no concrete plans of actions.
I really don't like being left in the dark, i think by now, streamyx should very well know what's their problems are.

I tracert, all RTO half way before reaching destination.

Their routing table is definitely out of wack... don't they have a remove dead servers after x retry command or something like that to automatically remove and replace a dead route node?

I believe all their problems is due to their routing table. Celcom users seems to be less effected by this problem.

I normally use 50, to get a good picture of what's really happening.

The funny thing is, when the telekom 100 support guys do a ping, they do a ping default 4 times, and proudly says no problem!!

I always have to teach them the -n 20 trick. and then they're like Oooohhh !! Saya nampak packet loss!!!

Using ping -n 10 will do. It should show packet loss if any. At most -n 20.

If everyone ping -n 50, TM will think there is a DDOS attack and pull out the cable...
*
Also, TM wont pull the cable, but the server you PINGED may consider a DDOS attack.

The server you pinged will be the adversely effected party, not you.

Anyway, for a real DDOS attack to happen, u need like hundreds and thousands of PCs pinging the same site at once.

1 pc ping a million times also another pc can handle

119 IP is good.

60.x = NG

seems like different IPs are routed differently..
