not even slight spike to 9500, now is at 8500-8600 level and 11days (- alot holiday and weekend =thin volume) left till the deadline, what i think now is that the chances of it reach or break and stay above 9500(atleast one day) is very slim and near 0%

Instead of posting useless information, why don't you post up your charts and analysis, and that really will help.

Potential EU retracement to 1.33, weekly shooting star.

Strategy: Short on 4hr OverBOUGHT.

All major pairs are showing OVERSOLD in 4hr chart. Please allow a correction upwards before attempting to short EU and GU.

Added on December 21, 2008, 3:41 amThe question is , is Aussie and NZ dollar be in demand since both interest rate is highest AMONG 10 OECD nations?

hm...oil (WTI) might rise next week, based on price action and some fundamentals. If so, so would EU. 1.3850 (or around) has been the 3rd time acting as a support level. Best to look at with US Treasuries, German bund, oil and Dow for confirmation.

here's the messy chart for the up move

Sorry, have to disagree with you on FA. Cable is the weakest currency among the 10 OECD countries. King and Trichet have different principles on easing the interest rate. KING might reduce to zero while Trichet might reduce to 1.5 or 1. But definitely not ZERO.

My bias still hasnt change, long carry trades, especially when China and India keeps on reducing interest rate. With oil prices this low, its only about time growth will restart.

A huge warning for those who are holding short positions in EU, AU. Please be aware that monthly candle are showing reversals pending. Either reduce short positions or place tiny long positions on the dips.

The economic data from the Euro Zone is getting worst, but the question still lies, how far and how soon will ECB bring the rates down? The next meeting is in January and will ECB cut 0.5, and if they will do what the US FED, and BOJ do? Buying commercial paper, etc.

In the short term, it doesn't look good for euro but it doesn't look attractive for the USD as the Obama administration has already hinted, they will spend their way out of the crisis, which means print, print, print!

Added on December 23, 2008, 8:49 amAlso, as time goes without any big blow ups, VIX will slowly drift down, and this will hint that investors are ready to come back to equities and other financial instruments. And when that happen, say goodbye to the dollar and treasuries.

Patience, like small Jeff says is important. You cant win every trade.

Follow the trend as the trend is your friend till the very end.

Added on December 23, 2008, 8:50 amAlso to add:

IF Congress approves another rebate check for US citizens, it will double the effect of LOW gas prices, low FOOD prices. It's like a double whammy for the USD.

Welcome to the board, there are too many brokers out there, better choose those regulated. I personally use fxcm. You can try open fxcm micro for testing.

I use credit card to deposist, TT to withdraw. i don't really care about the charges as we can't avoid from bank charges. Which bank lowest? I don't know.

which bank charge the lowest rates of wire transfer to US broker?

how do you guys transfer money to your forex account?

There's some broker that uses paypal. Less charges and instantly received the fund, then you can sell it out.

Hey guys,

I found this trading strategy from other forum. I have tested in my demo account since a few times and it is profitable!

Its a simple strategy. You need not have any indicator, just the default ones found in your metatrader.

Daily Profit Potentials: Around 30-50pips +

All you need to do is the following:-

1. Pull out a M15 Chart for a USD Major pair, example like GBPUSD.
2. Draw a vertical line at 14:00 time on your Chart.
3. Draw a vertical line at 16:00 time on your Chart.
4. Draw a Horizontal line at the high of candles/bars in between the vertical
line.
5. Draw a Horizontal line at the Low of candles/bars in between the vertical
line.

Thats it, Simply put a buy stop at the high and sell stop at the low with stoploss of 30-50pips. DO YOUR OWN RR.
Ideal Targets: Around 30-50pips or no targets if you think it can go more

Trailing Stop of 15pips, if you want to.

Attached Image
You can also check historical records and see its very profitable!!

Some points to note:

1. There are only 9 candles/bars in the 15 minute chart, between 1400-1600.
2. If the Distance between the high and low is less than 50-60 pips, it could be very profitable.
3. If the Distance between the high and low is more than 50-60 pips, it could be not very profitable.
4. If the price doesn't break the high/low, its a ranging market.
5. The USD news are usually released around or after the 14:00-16:00 GMT phase.
6. The signals are only valid for the current day, Next day u again need to wait for the 1400-1600 time and 9 candles again.

*THE TIMEZONE IS BETWEEN 7AM-9AM New york Time*

Today's trade in my demo account:

Let's wait...I am going to sleep now.

Abit risky. It is more advisable to wait it to retrace back to HOrizontal SR and only take the LONG due to BREAKOUT candle was too big.

0.20, 0.40, 0.80, 1.60, 3.20, 6.40, 12.80..... Some sort of Martingale.

You need a very very large margin. What is your maximum number of trades set to?

When it reaches the maximum number of trades (or before even), and the trend is still against your positions, it will wipe out your account. Before that happens, it looks very good. Do a backtest over a sufficiently long period of time, like say at least 6 months, and you will see what I mean. whistling.gif

Let me guess for the next thing is. Promotion of an item with price.

ANd is it leverage important in martingale EA? ABSOLUTELY NO. Is your equity.

It's not just the leverage (lots) but the profit/losses which add up to the total drawdown as you open larger and larger positions. The pip-gap before opening up the next position is only 20-pips which is small relative to the range the USDJPY pair can move within a day, which makes it more dangerous.

How did you decide on 20-pips? Do you know what conditions causes it do a SELL LIMIT instead of SELL? Do you have the mq4? Or just the ex4?

Hey, but if it works - great! The reason you are telling us is because you are going to share the EA, right? smile.gif

Sorry Cscheat, i don't use EA, i use my brains to trade. Trusting another person's "brain" in creating the EA doesn't suit me, or my trading philosophy. Do you know trading constantly evolves? And you are telling me the EA will automatically evolves with trading patterns? Sorry buddy, all it takes is just one big bad event, like US attacking iran, and kaboom, your entire portofolio gone.

Oh, and making 700 ain a big deal, unless the EA makes me 10000 usd in 15 minutes, then maybe i will consider it.

Yes, very bullish. China's PMI has recovered slightly in December, maybe marking of a bottom. Look for more upside for Aussie dollar.

It's on FXstreet.com, listed on the updates.

Added on January 4, 2009, 12:59 pmMy opinion, if China eases the monetary policy further, we might see a huge rally coming soon for Hang Seng, Nikkei, SGX.

IMHO, better try trade manually first to get feel what is FOREX all about.
Then can start using EA for real. But make sure to run backtest for few years or few months back at least. biggrin.gif

"web-proxy" doesn't look like a proper domain name. If you really are going thru a proxy, your web browser should also have the proxy domain name set in there, so have a look and see what it says.

thats because u try someone else ea (u were just hoping for profit instead of knowing how it trade n what his money management like).....not something created or research by u

i've seen people with good EA(created n developed by themself)....manage to profit 3 month continuously, ofcoz that doesnt mean he will profit all the way...nothing is absolute

one thing for sure is that....GOOD EA will never surface on internet for sell, they can make more profit trading themself than selling the EA

except for selling it to bank/investment institutional ( heard this case before )

I agree with wat u said.. I did observe how the EA works.. 1st 5 mins using the EA was quite convincing.. 2-5 pips coming in.. Thats y i decided to leave it working on its own.. Nvr thought it ended up big loss..

Speaking of developing our own EA.. Anyone here ever come up wit their own, n test it on the system??

I'm working on a couple of EAs. Can't say they are my own, cause they are put together from code examples from different places. You cannot just take an EA and expect it to work. Different pairs will behave differently. Even the data on the same pair from different brokers will behave differently.

u will need to see the code for the EA to see how does exactly it works. and do u know that Mesin Duit has other people codes and sell it as his own ? .. so does Robo-Forex.. robo forex has 99% similarity with Mesin Duit codes but at least he replaced the original copyright at the top of the code.

yeah i did. well not i .. i hired a MQ4 programmer to make an ea using my trading method. but it doesnt go well on ranging market. it cant filter the bad ranging move efficient enuf.

Overall, the currency market traded calm in the Asian session, with almost no momentum. This usually happens during the Asian session after a very volatile day. Ahead, the calendar is loaded with important releases during both the European and U.S. session, so it is very likely the market will trend again.

The Euro (Eur/Usd) tumbled a strong number of pips. The pair fell as much as 350 pips, but recovered some pips back in the U.S. session to finish the day 250 pips lower. In the Asian session, the euro fell another 50 pips, breaking under the 20 and the 100-day moving averages.

The Pound (Gbp/Usd) and the cad were the only pairs that advanced compared with the dollar yesterday. The pound rose 150 pips, even though in the overnight session the pair was pulled lower by the euro. The pair is trading under all moving averages, as the BoE is expected to cut on Thursday 50 basis points.

The consumer confidence for the U.K. fell in December to 47 despite the government's announcement of a fiscal stimulus package worth GBP20 billion and unprecedented interest rate cuts by the Bank of England. During the month, the prime shopping season, stores discounted merchandise in a desperate attempt to move stock. On the whole, Britons felt gloomier about the nation's economic outlook as they feared losing their jobs. A full 49 percent believed the economy would worsen over the coming six months which is up from 45 percent in November.

The Aussie (Aud/Usd) closed the last day of trading forming a doji-star, denoting the market's indecision. The aussie is trading at the highest value touched in the last two months, near an area where the pair had previously topped. In addition, the aussie is trading just a few pips under the 100-day moving average.

The Australian AIG services sector activity has declined for a ninth consecutive month in the services sector for December showed the Australian Industries Group's report. The index rose marginally, by 1.5 points to 39.3 but remained below the key 50.0 level which separate's expansion from contraction. In seasonally adjusted terms, only one sector saw expansion, health and services, for the first time in five months. Sales fell for a seventh month while activity fell even faster for accommodation, cafes and restaurants, as well as the personal and recreational services sectors.

The Cad (Usd/Cad) moved lower yesterday, even though the dollar was advanced against most of the majors. The cad gained 100 pips in the overnight session, but around the U.S. open the pair started to move lower. At the end of the day, the cad had fallen 130 pips.

The Swissy (Usd/Chf) is currently trading in a small range, around the U.S. session closing price. This comes after the pair rose 300 pips yesterday and broke above the 200-day moving average, in a move correlated with the euro. The swissy is now trading just a few pips under the 20-day moving average.

The Yen (Usd/Yen) advanced yesterday a strong number of pips, even though the S&P finished the day lower. The pair gained 100 pips, reaching the highest value in the last month. The yen bottomed and started to head up after a number of Japanese officials complained about the strength of the national currency.

The Japanese monetary base came in with a reading of 1.8 percent year over year in December. This is slightly lower than November's reading of 1.9 percent, but still in line with analysts' expectations. Banknote circulation in December was up 0.5 percent. Meanwhile, coins added 0.4 percent. Seasonally adjusted, the monetary base increased to 90.45 trillion yen, or 0.1 percent.

We now compare which one more suit to LONG as LONG TERM , is EU or GU?

Start with GU

GU today alraedy rally alot... Many ppl telling me not suit to LONG it already. ALready so high, stil wan long?
So, now compare and contrast.

Gu daily, we hav a broadening bottom pattern in the. According to the pattern, we nid a break of 1.57 to confirm that the broadening bottom pattern is done. (brodening bottom is a reversal pattern) So it is not late for us to LONG now. U might get some -ve pips. But it is worth.

GU weekly. +ve divergence la... TARGET is 1.60 (1000pips)

GU. Red line down is a TL from higher TF

It will hit the red line, coupled wit OB on rsi.... and decline back. IF it does breakout of the red line... then bull really in control liao. We might be looking at least a retest of 1.55 if that happens.

to those of u that use EA... good for u if the EA earns for u.. and better luck if it made u lose money. This is for FOREX DISCUSSIONS not bragging about how much is earned.

so PLEASE keep whatever "sure win" system or EA that u may have.

What i'm about to post up is my life in a WEEK~!!

There is a story in here... so learnt from my stupid mistake so you don't repeat wut i did.....

I begin the week by being

1. Impatient.
2. Enter in and out very quickly
3. Trade on news.
4. Play very lower time frame

THE BAD......

I begin here:

434266488, January 2 12:04:34 2009, , Close Trade, GBP/USD, 1.4516, 400, 1.4689, 1.4380, 434239906, , , -0.0028, 0.0160, 0.0132, 99.98

434268557, January 2 12:11:10 2009, , Close Trade, EUR/JPY, 127.2020, 300, 124.8450, 129.0000, 434058938, , , 0.0088, -1.3180, -1.3092, 98.67

ya at the same rate it'll only take you 10 years (985 * 1.3^120) to reach 46,412,878,860,152,899 USD, which is about 46 thousand trillion, more than the world GDP combined, you would own the whole world!

30% per month is simply not sustainable in the long term, because it is impossible

I myself have made over 400% return in less than 2 months, but i know it's meaningless because i got lucky while over-leveraging, if i can maintain 30% per annum consistently in the long run, i would say it's a damn bloody good result

and in forex it usually takes only a few bad judgment calls to wipe you out

No problem Jerry, thanks for the compliment.

Anyways, everybody here i know wants to make quick money, again let me repeat myself, it's not how fast you make em, it's how you keep em.

Risk management and money management and patience are more important than your skills of drawing trendlines, and analyzing fundamentals. And of course, the charts and the fundamentals don't lie.

Do you really think EURO will go down to 1.20? Or below 1.30? Wishful thinking. The greatest printing press in the world are desperate to save its own economy, and they will come out with more creative ways for quantitative easing.

Gold, oil? Sure they are dropping like a rock. But do you think DEMAND will not pick up with so much excess in M2, M3 supply?

Think long term, not short term. Those who trade short term, can't see far, and therefore won't make much.

Haha, the unemployment rate is 7.2%, and it will get worst. But notice one thing, the market didnt crash. GU, AU, EU didn't crash, so what gives?

2.5% of long end T bills? I am having a laugh.......

BUY EU, GU, AU on dips, SELL on rallies.

I wonder why Eur/Usd can go down? Suppose high unemployment rate can cause the Eur/USD go up isn't it? As USD bcm weak. or this down is purely depend on Technical analysis?

Anyone can help me the clear this doubt? Thank you.

all equity indexes gone south, monies went to bonds and/or treasuries. IMO, forex is rather difficult to solely depend on TA alone.

Rush to safety, you sell risky assets to purchase T bills. When equity market is down, yen and usd appreciates. (but usd will depreciate against the yen)

Hello LYN traders,

Just to share my reading on "Day Trading the Currency Market" by Kathy Lien.

---------------------------------------SNIP-------------------------------------------------------------
FADING THE DOUBLE ZEROS
One of the most widely overlooked yet lucrative areas of trading is market
structure. Developing a keen understanding of micro structure and dynamics allows
traders to gain an unbelievable advantage and is probably one of the most reliable
tactic for profiting from intraday fluctuations. Developing a feel for and
understanding of market dynamics is key to profitably taking advantage of short-term
fluctuations. In foreign exchange trading this is especially critical as the primary
influence of intraday price action is order flow. Given the fact that most individual
traders are not privy to sell-side bank order flow, day traders looking to profit from
short-term fluctuations need to learn how to identify and anticipate price zones where
large order flows should be triggered. This technique is very efficient for intraday
traders as it allows them to get on the same side as the market maker.
When trading intraday, it is impossible to look for bounces off of every support
or resistance level and expect to be profitable. The key to successful intraday trading
requires that we be more selective and enter only at those levels where a reaction is
more likely. Trading off psychologically important levels such as the double zeros or
round numbers is one good way of identifying such opportunities. Double zeros
represent numbers where the last two digits are zeros—for example, 107.00 in the
USD/JPY or 1.2800 in the EUR/USD. After noticing how many times a currency pair
would bounce off of double zero support or resistance levels intraday despite the
underlying trend, we have noticed that the bounces are usually much bigger and more
relevant than rallies off other areas. This type of reaction is perfect for intraday FX
traders as it gives them the opportunity to make 50 pips while risking only 15 to 20
pips.
Implementing this methodology is not difficult, but it does require individual
traders to develop a solid feel for dealing room and market participant psychology.
The idea behind why this methodology works is simple. Large banks with access to
conditional order flow have a very distinct advantage over other market participants.
The banks' order books give them direct insight into potential reactions at different
price levels. Dealers will often use this strategic information themselves to put on
short-term positions for their own accounts.
Market participants as a whole tend to put conditional orders near or around the
same levels. While stop-loss orders are usually placed just beyond the round
numbers, traders will cluster their lake-profit orders at the round number. The reason
why this occurs is because traders are humans and humans tend to think in round
numbers. As a result, take-profit orders have a very high tendency of being placed at
the double zero level. Since the FX market is a nonstop continuous market, speculators
also use stop and limit orders much more frequently than in other markets. Large
banks with access to conditional order flow, like stops and limits, actively seek to
exploit these clustering of positions to basically gun stops. The strategy of fading the

double zeros attempts to put traders on the same side as market makers and basically
positions traders for a quick contra-trend move at the double zero level.
This trade is most profitable when there are other technical indicators that
confirm the significance or the double zero level.
Strategy Rules
Long
1. First, locate a currency pair that is trading well below its intraday 20-period
simple moving average on a 10- or 15-minute chart.
2. Next, enter a long position several pips below the figure (no more than 10).
3. Place an initial protective stop no more than 20 pips below the entry price.
4. When the position is profitable by double the amount that you risked, close
half of the position and move your stop on the remaining portion of the trade to
breakeven. Trail your stop as the price moves in your favor.
Short
1. First, locate a currency pair that is trading well above its intraday 20-period
simple moving average on a 10- or 15-minute chart.
2. Next, short the currency pair several pips above the figure (no more than 10).
3. Place an initial protective stop no more than 20 pips above the entry price.
4. When the position is profitable by double the amount that you risked, close
half of the position and move your stop on the remaining portion of the trade to
breakeven. Trail your stop as the price moves in your favor.

all equity indexes gone south, monies went to bonds and/or treasuries. IMO, forex is rather difficult to solely depend on TA alone.

Ok. hmm.gif
So now Eur/Usd went down. so that means USD get stronger isn'nt it? USD now use lesser money to change Euro. Am i rite?

SO now unemployment release, but then Eur/Usd go south.

Yes. People still see the Treasuries as a safe haven, despite Fed cutting rates and starting to print money (since China ain't borrowing). The stronger the US$ gain now, the greater it'll fall, pretty soon. We know China and Japan are the top holders of US debts, by the time they ask back for the money, will be the time USD to fall very BIG.

Just my view, not necessarily accurate smile.gif

Don't expect C and J to claim their money from U sooner or later.
Coz they know the situation and it will not benefit both party if they claim it at current situation.

China wont sell the T bills it has now, just slow down the purchase of T bills. Why would you want to finance a country that has leaky pockets?

hmm... EU seems extremely bearish on the daily and weekly outlook. Perhaps an initial gain to 1.3670/80 first before falling back down?

We break the TL that day. AndI observe. The market only retrace up to 61.8% from the previous BULL move. If it break down the 61.8Fibo (70.09), then we might revisit previous LOW again.

Beside, SToch oversold.

Just to add Devin also points that we now hav a higher high and higher low to create an uptrend channel...

I agree with him on this.

On the side note, by looking at this chart, if u take tht fibo and use as a retracement tool, 61.8% also shows that there is little strength for uj to move upward IF it even move up. The retracement from the drop is just too much. A very short term upward move is therefore probable but not sustainable imho, thus creating a LH. Once the upward move created enough OB on the SToch we might see it nose dive once again.

So just becareful when trading this pair. This is however purely TA base tho.

Read alot from online and also e-books..
It takes 3-6 month on demo before you can go live... this time should be used for you to test out all those strategy you've read and see which one suit you best. From there you can create one strategy which suit you the best and even create your own if you feel like it. Once you can book consistent profit, only than you are ready to play with real account. Even with real account you need to start slow and small. Coz the psychology of playing with real money is dif... in short.. u will get greedy can kill youself.

look into smaller TF, entry upon higher high or lower low. however, this is not for big pips though.

Nope, there is no need for it.
Just submit a photocopy of ur identification id + utility bill's address(in your name) that matched with ur identification id's address.
And they will approve ur application within 3 working days.

Guys, what do you think on Kishore M's course?

I came across the course here:

Make money in Forex

Anyone been for his course? I really feel like joining in but I need your advice or opinion before i do so.

Thanks!

Most of the thing they will teach you, you can easily learn by yourself for free. Coz you could easily spend literally thousands to pay for such courses. All you need is patience to learn and practice it yourself without going to any course. You sure can do it...

his course not cheap. Around at least RM6K++.
To me, it is not worth to attend it. Very basic enough for you to learn by yourself.
For example: He create so much strategy name like Absolute Pips Gains (technically it is refering to Bollinger Band. Buy when it reach floor, sell when it reach roof, wtf. So funny names.) cool2.gif

Better use these 6K to invest FX and consult here in case you have any doubts. We will gladly to answer it.
Just remember to treat us free dinner, lunch when you gain some..lol biggrin.gif

Learn step by step in babypips.com. Go through all of it. Get basic knowledge on what is Forex first.

You should go for the courses that will teach you their tested trading strategy...not those teach you how to use indicator!!! Choose carefully!!!...I never go for any courses, but I have a few friends attending forex courses in singapore...the instructor teach them some strategy to profit in forex...and it really works...but the course fee really sweat me....

The website looks pretty professional and it's got all the relevant information in regulatory compliance and all. Looks legit to me, maybe i'll open a demo account to see how it's like, but i'm pretty ok with Oanda so far.

Dear Customers,
As some malfunctions with Windows Live service, Messenger group also has problems accordingly:

When you create a new group or join a group, maybe the group is offline but you still can chat with others in the group or open the Activity Panel etc.. If you cannot send a nudge, please try to type /open. (If you cannot use the command, please try again later.)

We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may caused. We are contacting with Windows Live service providers now and hope these problems will be fixed soon.

Thanks for your support about Messenger Group.

Well in any case i tried that the other day and still doesnt work. Someone inside the thread suggest adding and removing the group... this one i nvr tried yet

ODL Securities Sells US Business    Print      E-mail

ODL Securities Sells US Business

15 January 2009 - ODL Securities, the leading independent FOREX, derivatives, equity, spread betting and commodity trading house has sold the US division of its profit making US Forex business to Forex Capital Markets LLC (FXCM).

The move follows the current and planned implementation of new and more complex regulatory rules that have made it increasingly burdensome for all Forex Dealer Members to operate in the United States. These include increases in the minimum amount of regulatory capital that a Forex Dealer Member must maintain - up by three times over the past year and due to increase further in May to $30mn.

A strategic decision was therefore taken by ODL to use its financial capital more efficiently to fuel its growth in other parts of the world.

As part of its expansion strategy ODL Securities will open new JV offices in Turkey and Australia in the very near future, and expand its operations in Japan and Canada. In the UK head office, the business has been restructured to improve its offering with a focus on multi-lingual customer service and support (ODL now has clients from over 100 countries).

Announcing the sale, Graham Wellesley, Chief Executive of ODL Securities, said: "This has been a hard decision for us to make, ODL Securities Inc. is a very successful and profitable operation, but we could not justify disproportionately supporting one of our smaller subsidiaries.

"We remain firmly committed to expanding our international reach and to that end we have dramatically strengthened the management and resources of our UK Sales and Servicing Teams as well as developing new ventures in Europe, Asia and Australia. We remain profitable and our strategy will continue to focus on growing the business in 2009.."

Notes to Editors

ODL Securities is a leading, independent Forex, derivatives, equity, spread betting & commodity trading house with regulated offices in UK, Japan and Canada. ODL Securities Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority, and is a member firm of the London Stock Exchange, Euronext LIFFE. and a member of APCIMS.  For further information please visit www.odlsecurities.com

What is this chart telling? A support line at 1.4470, a scalp line at 1.4980. When the EMA5(red) cross EMA10(blue), put TP at 1.4600 or 1.4500(double zero round number) as your TP1(first take profit). Getting profit should not be a problem here, just watch out for news event.

Basically it is trading in the range. Can spot a strong horizontal support and resistance level.
Somehow it looked like invested H&S to me after tremendous downtrend.
Look for BO when it break LH TL. Once BO confirmed, inverted HS will be complete.
Anyway, it need to break horizontal S&R line in order to have upwards momentum. cool2.gif

I thought you can start trading whenever the market opens, the online brokerages start operating whenever trading begins don't they? In fact you can place your trades now and leave them there until whenever activity occurs, at least that's the case for Oanda.

The very first market that opens is probably New Zealand's, which is like about 6am Sydney/Melbourne time.

It's actually not the MACD going up but the moving averages going up.

With MACD you should not look at the moving averages themselves but the histogram and the signal line (which you don't have in the chart).

Had another look at your graph. It doesn't correspond to the MACD or MA on my charts, so I don't know what they are! hmm.gif

*
As you can see, the EMA5 cross EMA10, the price hit the support line at 1.4470 and bounce back to current 1.4518/19. Both round number TP I suggested hit. To bad I didn't catch this move.

Backtest mean u use the tools in mt4. try to run the EA from something like 20Jan08 until 20Jan09. Mean you test all the data since the past.

While forward testing mean you attached the EA to your mt4 and run it from day to day, it is time consuming and quite a hard work.

But backtest result always vary from forward test result, and it can vary alot especially those scalping, martingale based EA.

100% similiar to wat i thinking. but here how they explain it in a better english. Guesss cetak rompak is more easier than type all of these by myself.

QUOTE
1/22/2009 - USD/JPY - Price action on the USD/JPY (a daily chart of which is shown) has just made a precise double-test of the pair's 13-year low that was recently established in mid-December 2008. This extreme support level resides just a few pips above the 87.00 mark. Wednesday's price bar (1/22/2008) descended all the way down to this level, was summarily rejected, and then ended up closing around 89.50. Thursday's bar, as of the morning, is showing some of the same nature as Wednesday's bar. More likely than not, this pair should be seeing a consolidation above the 87.00 support. The obvious event to watch for is any major break below 87.00, which would put the pair in essentially unprecedented territory. A substantial breakdown of this level would likely carry enough bearish momentum to take the pair down at least to the 85.00 region. To the upside, the 91.00 support/resistance region remains as key intermediate resistance for the time being. And, of course, an actual double bottom reversal would only be confirmed on a substantial break above the swing high peak around 94.60.

Do you guys have issues logging in to FXCM or Thinkorswim to trade? My connection using streamyx sucks at my home when trading, I hate it when I trade. Is jaring better or Maxis wireless better to log in these accounts? By the way, I haven't tried other brokers yet, which one works very good in west malaysia?

Based on image 1: yup, it is testing Fibo 23.6 fibo level. Just that.
Image 2: Signal more clearer if drew TL and it is forming symmetrical triangle. Just wait for breakout.
Fibo 61.8 will serve strong resistance. retracement may occur at fibo 31.8 & 50. Just watch for stoch indicator biggrin.gif

there are a few scalpers here. IMO, be a scalper only if you're very interested in the market, while knowing what you're doing. Scalping may require high leveraged than day trading, such that profits will seem to be significance. With that, there will be higher risk. So, you'll need to have a higher P/L ratio.

Good luck smile.gif

prefer we talk more on technical analysis . It's better rather than promoting broker and asking downline/upline related commission ..huh

Don't use marketiva la bro. The only good point about it is that it gives you a FREE USD$2.50 to trade live. I have triple that USD$2.50 to USD8.++ in few days hehe.

Other than that its a bucket shop, only good for chatting sleep.gif. There is no requotes and other function found in an MT4 platform, you will lose a lot of money if you really fund and use this broker. Your Buy and Sell order will not executed exactly as you placed it 80% of the time.

Try broker like oanda , ibfx.

I m using fxpro , same platform like ibfx, it can be funded using paypal. Easy to withdraw money smile.gif

Most of the broker is not from malaysia.

Unless you can find a broker from malaysia or other nearby asian region then they might accept debit card.

I can't seem to find one. Best is to install Parallels/VMware or just use boot camp. I'm using parallels myself.

check your IP address. some IP are prone to be lagging, such as the 118.xxx... you'll get better connection with 60.48.xx or 60.53.xxx... disconnect and reconnect again till you get a good IP

Added on January 29, 2009, 10:20 pmhi guys,
i've read somewhere that fx wasn't allowed in malaysia.. due to tax thingy i think a few years back.

what is the current situation on fx and taxes?
let's say you're the next george soros and you make over a few mil from your initial $10k, then would you get tax like crazy or have those good folks from bukit aman storm your house when you withdraw some $$ into your fat savings account?

thanks

i'm not sure if i am totally right on it.. I have enquired an uncle of mine who is a lawyer regarding this. It was not a formal enquiry but I asked him if profits from forex investment is taxable he says definately no. I may be wrong though..

As added info I have also asked a lecturer of mine whois a forex trader Nazri Khan.. he gives forex speeches and also trades for his own. He also says forex investment is not taxable

Pretty good, i withdrew twice and i think they processed it the next business day and i think you get the funds on the same day if i remember correctly.

It's only the paypal to your bank account part that takes a bit longer.

Blah this blah that...

Everybody wants quick money. You guys really believe sifus out there never lose before? Must be kidding me. EAs, STRATEGIES? ETC?

Nothing's more valuable than consistent monitoring of the markets behavior.

There's no LAZY way to riches. Whoever gave an idea that FX is as easy as 123 must be high or must be insane.

Word of advise: you want to make money, learn how to accept small losses and learn your mistakes.

God/Tuhan/TIN will only bless those who's hardworking, not those who leech off unknown people's idea and concept.

yea
if you did make money without any knowledge then you're lucky.
but just like gambling, it's what happens in the long run that counts.
winning 1-2 times doesn't make you a genius.

but it's a well worthy investment if you're planning to master it and do it well.
sure beats serving ice blended coffee at starbucks during the weekend tongue.gif

Income? Are u mean forex gains or your fulltime job salary?
If is forex gains then it is not taxable. So no need to declare for income tax.

1. What website you recommended for demo account (easy-forex etc)?
2. Other application/signal I should use.

for demo trading, it is good to use mt4 platform. It provide good charting and most necessary tools for trading.
MT4-based brokers are such as interbank fx, fxcm.
For real trading, use oanda.com as it provide lower spreads, reliability, faster execution and no requotes.

Application/signal: Most of us here using SMA, Stoch, RSI, candlesticks. There is no specific signal. Vary depend on each individual. biggrin.gif

Thanks but after visiting BabyPips.com I found out that there is soo much to learn. I just get pass through the 'elementary school' now on middle school.

I think I follow the pledge to do 6 month of demo before using real money.

Right now I only got dial up,. Is it OK to do demo using my low speed internet? I only got TMNet Prepaid..

Babypips alone is not enough. Here's another great site which can make u cry

http://www.investopedia.com/articles/forex/

Dial up is not enough. You want your reading as real time as possible. I know a guy with 4Mbps Streamyx and he still complain its not fast enough.

Depends on your strategy. If you are doing scalping, then you can't rely on your dial up. If you do trending, then you can. I use trending strategy, so I'm okay even if using GPRS. smile.gif

Depends on your strategy. If you are doing scalping, then you can't rely on your dial up. If you do trending, then you can. I use trending strategy, so I'm okay even if using GPRS. smile.gif

Oh so its still POSSIBLE to do on dial-up? I just wanted to test demo until I got broadband. I will download Metatrader (or others) if it possible to do it.

Wow, thanks. That's REALLLLYYY helpful. I almost finish 'college'-level by tommorow before going to InvestoPedia.

My question is:-

1. What currency to trade? USA market open late so should I go swing rather than intramarket? What's the best for you.

2. What is entry order? Is is similar to Stop-Loss.

3. How to Fundamental analysis? I don't have Astro and I only got ChannelNewsAsia.

which pair that you looking at?
Usually in early of Monday morning or late Friday nite, the spread gonna goes higher as it prepare to close for weekend / early week trade. So it is normal for higher spread but not as high as 30pips for EU at least biggrin.gif
Usually very exotic currency pairs are high spread due to illiquidity / low volume. smile.gif

EURO/USD. Kinda scared after look at it. The hardest part right now is using Metatrader. I don't know what to do even after reading through all of BabyPips.

My loss is around $300. When I click on 'New Order', there is volume. What is it?

Watching all the letter/charts/line remind me of days when I'm learning Flash.

Added on February 5, 2009, 7:35 pmApart from BabyPips and InvestoPedia is there a real book or wensite really on getting good as this?

the best knowledge u can get is by getting experience hands on the metatrader... its demo.. try everything and keep it realistic to your risk appetite.. just click around and you will know what it is for.

Yep, that the only way I guess. I just read this:-

http://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=39514&page=3

One of it says 'Doctor need 12+ years to at get 6 figure income'. So what make me think 1 week is good enough to earn money. I think I need to learn slowly. Hopefully by one year I have good grasp of Forex.

Is it? someone prove it then. Remember you have to deduct commissions, your net income after deducting commissions and spread must be $50.

Can I ask another question. I'm a total newb with only 1 week of experience.

I got this from Investopedia on option

http://www.investopedia.com/articles/trading/04/101304.asp

QUOTE
This order would look something like this:
Buy: EUR put/USD call
Strike price: 1.2900
Expiration: 2 March 2004
Premium: 10 USD pips
Cash (spot) reference: 1.3000

Say the new reports come out and the EUR/USD pair falls to 1.2850--you decide to exercise your option, and the result gives you 40 USD pips profit (1.2900 – 1.2850 – 0.0010).

If EUR/USD fall, does'nt it suppose to be loss rather than profit as EUR depreciated as we buy?

Another thing how to install this EA (what EA?)

http://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=109589

From what I read, it got solid profit but some said to try on demo first. But how to do?

I just run the mGrid from forexfactory and its just PROFITS!

I just know EA is Expert Advisor (duh!) and run it for 2 1/2 hour on my stupid dial-up.

In main below window of metatrader (I don't know the main interefance for MT4 yet), its says

balance 4116, Equity 5028.7 Margin 2574.8 Free Margin: 2438.9 Maring Level 194.95% Profit: 905.7

Previously using without using it I only got huge losses. So it this mean my demo profit is 905.7 USD?

Thanks for the book. Every pro trader recommend this book on their website.

Added on February 6, 2009, 2:26 pmThe book can't be downloaded, plz re-upload it. Its really useful.

That's a put option on EUR/USD, meaning you're shorting Euro against USD.

5 Essential Rules of FOREX trading

a) If you can't take the risk, DONT TRY TRADING FX. FX is the highest risk instrument available.

b) If you can't control your greed, DON'T overtrade or chase after TINY PROFITS using HUGE LEVERAGE.

c) If you can't control your emotions, DON'T do revenge trade after you lose.

d) IF you have no money management, PLEASE stay away from FX.

e) IF you have no patience, DONT EXPECT TO WIN BIG.

ALL Financial trading is risky .

To say that say that is like saying , don't drive cause it is risky ???

What is true is from a trader POV is local futures are crap cause the moves are so small.

in FX hell man , you can get 1000 pips every day , that's a lot .

get ready to short Sterling . This up wave won't last

If you really know your biz , you would know nothing is for sure .

If you knew what is a sure bet you won't be here touting for retail punters.

In fact if you are employee and not remiser why is OSK scrapping around a web forum for punters ?? LOL

I think you are a remiser.

As for why short GBP well that has no relevance to you does it , since you actively proclaim your aversion to FX trades why would you care what I short or long ?

If 1 of the guys ask me then it's different.

Yadi yada yadi yada.

Personal attacks are all you can come up with. I am sure you can do better than being a smart ass with a loud mouth. If you can prove yourself, why do you even bother assuming what i represent and who i am. If you want a challenge, ask me out, and let me see your porfolio.

Just don't talk crap here and do personal attacks. Nobody cares dude.

And as my job title states; I am a futures broker representative, not a remiser. I am sure you know English PRETTY WELL right?

Don't be an internet gangster, talk big over the net.

PS: And OSK doesn't open FX accounts. Doh...

PSS: I am not touting for any business, these guys know me well enough to know what i represent and how i can help them. As for you, either you are afraid of me or you just want to put me down to make yourself look good. Then again, personal attacks, i had it from couple of forumers already. It only makes you look worse.

personal attack ?

You say you don't like to trade FX . I say short GBP , you ask why ?

I tell you no relevant to you due to what you just said ?

Why does a person who discourages FX want to know about a FX trade .

What part of this is unclear ?

Either you don't understand plain English or you are say 1 thing and change when it doesn't suit you.

If I ask you out then I would be asking to see your portfolio not vice versa , " dude ".

Are you saying part of OSK dealers job is to tout punters at 10.45pm ??

Please don't take the forum for fools , this is funny.

I didn't say i dont like to trade FX. I just gave a caution to beginners. Which part do you not understand?

Well, i can always ask for opinion. And you take that as i am a newbie? Hence, you make assumptions about me.

Which part here that i am seeking for punters?

I got this from InvestoPedia:-

QUOTE
You place a trade in GBP/USD. Let's say you decide to short the pair at 1.7500 with a 1.7600 stop and a target of 1.7300. At first, the trade is doing well. The price moves in your direction, as GBP/USD first drops to 1.7400, then to 1.7360 and begins to approach 1.7300. At 1.7320, the GBP/USD decline slows and starts to turn back up. Price is now 1.7340, then 1.7360, then 1.7370. But you remain calm. You are seeking a 2:1 reward to risk. Unfortunately, the turn in the GBP/USD has picked up steam; before you know it, the pair not only climbs back to your entry level but then swiftly rises higher and stops you at 1.7600.

You just let a 180-point profit turn into a 100-point loss

Again I'm confused. Why higher the price is bad?

Because this is forex. You can make money both ways, if you expect the price to depreciate you sell the currency. If you expect the price to appreciate, you buy the currency. It's not the same as stock.

Now as for the example, you expect the currency to depreciate so you sell the currency. However, midway, the price turned against you and it is now even higher than the price you sell. Thus you are incurring losses. Hope you can understand this newbie explanation from me.
