Hey Guys,

I have recently been to this Made to Measure shop named "Mastermanshop" in KLCC, they have got heaps of designs of suits that comes with huge selections of patterns.

After scouting around KLCC, this shop perfectly fits my budget which is within RM 2k, the question i have here would be, has anyone had any experiences in getting a MTM suit in this shop, i was attended by a gentleman named Sam, and he claims that he had been sent to Italy to undergo training in tailoring under Brioni.

I've seen some samples in the shop itself, but i wasn't too convince with the workmanship, i somehow found that the suits in Hugo Boss offers better in terms of design, pattern as well as cutting. http://www.hugoboss-store.co.uk/The%20Jam2...ailored_Jackets

I am looking at 100% wool suit, and i am at 171cm in height and 56kg in weight. I would most probably be getting a navy blue stripe suit, 2 buttons, classic design. Something like this but with stripes http://images.google.com.my/imglanding?q=t...Qv3ruM&start=75

Let me be the first to do this!

Read the f***ing sticky.

how can you compare a custom made suit with a hugo boss ready-to-wear? are your fond judgment towards the hugo boss suit based on the picture in the website? or did you go into the store and try out their suits? besides these are 2 totally different products, one is custom made and the other is off-the-rack..

I've actually tried on the Hugo Boss itself, well i can't said much about how both of it would be comparable, since the Hugo that i've tried has smaller sizes and the ready made, MTM, are having sizes that are beyond my size, maybe that would have resulted in me having a shift judgement.

Besides, I am not saying Hugo is entirely better than a MTM suit, knowing, MTM should always fits you best given it to be MTM. Nevertheless, i am not trying to disgrace any suits here. On contrary, this would be my first suit, and i can't have better judgement than anyone here as most of the forumers in this thread has sound knowledge as to what MTM is about.

But my main question here remains as to anyone has ever tried MTM suits from Mastermanshop in KLCC? Would it be a shop under your recommendation?

Never tried it.

but how do you try a MTM that is beyond your size? o.O
probably the tailors sense of style is lacking and isnt too familiar with more modern cuts and fittings.
like kotmj said, there are alot of lousy tailors out there.

Yes he does, after you start visiting his place religiously. I wonder when you're going to inherit some of his skills, set up a part-time bespoke business, maybe working from home like Mahon and give us a nice discount in the future.

I'll put you first in line on my waiting list.

I was in an office tower in Damansara for the better part of the day, and I put on someone else's navy suit jacket. It was like it was made for me.

For the first time in my life, I got to see how a traditional cut jacket looks on me. There was just a touch of waist suppression. I looked good in it, but not striking. It's an anonymous cut. Nobody would remark on such a jacket. Just an observation.

It was made by the infamous Chicago Tailor.

hie guys guess im going to get my suit done at Ian Chang @1U
I was thinking a few options to make it best fitting for the first suit.
As what kotmj recommended back there was quite useful information.
Plan to aim the hourglass look.. but this question pop out.

1) A notched lapel or A peaked lapel?
2) What is called the suit where the back of the of the portion is cut into 2 linings for ease of sitting down?

Sorry i forgot the name. I was thinking to have it or without the linings..

Thanks

1) Is ur suit for formal occasion or more to casual. Peaked for formal, notched for casual. (That's my personal pick though)
2) It's called venting. I've open 1 thread here regarding the preferences on suits venting.
There are single vent, double vent(side vent) and ventless.

For formal, go double vent or ventless. For casual, single vent is good.(Also my personal pick though)

@Vengeance_Mad

Thanks for your feedback.

Act is for my Wedding Suit" so it should be formal attire.

Anyway i will head down to Bespoke on this coming Friday to get my suit done.
I'm still scratching my head thinking what colour of suit i should choose and the cut.

Here are some of the pics that i was thinking to make.

The same old Hot Chick Suit. I like the colour matching (im having a blue & Red Event) but is a shawl lapel. Should i change it to peak/notched lapel? (Why most of the suit is Notched lapel? a new trend?)

user posted image
Taylor Lautner wearing the suit kind of shinny. What material is that? is this appropriate for a wedding dinner?

user posted image
Yet another shinny material though. From the pic it seems like a shawl lapel. I like the length of the cuff that able to see the shirt.
Usually what is the measurement of cut for the shirt to show the cuff? 1" or 0.75"

Im open for suggestion

Thanks!

1. You won't get much wear out of a shawl, trust us. Well, if you have the money and will be making more suits in the near future, then I guess a shawl for the big day is fine.
2. More or less a tradition for a casual touch. They were very common on sporting jackets during the old days (when gents do leisure sports during their free time) and oh, on the sacks too.
3. Either silk or poly blend.
4. In this time an age, people would tell you that it's fine.
5. My personal favourite is .5"

Outdated? The suit will look great given that you have the proper physique to flaunt the cut of a ventless suit. It's just that the population nowadays are plague with bulging bellies.

Just go for a notched lapel man. Anyway, Bespoked appears to me like they know about the stylistic options, so I would discuss it with them.

Depends on the occasion, I suppose. When my uncle received Queen Elisabeth at the airport runway in the afternoon sun, it was the full works.

If it's a very formal occasion, you'll need to wear the jacket even if it causes heatstroke.

FusionEX used to wear a vintage overcoat over his 3-piece DB flannel wool suit on a hot sunny afternoon whilst taking a stroll down Jalan Petaling.

Ooohh ok blush.gif thanks for the info. i'm thinking of wearing the vest in the office since it is very cold (xtra air-cond to prevent the server from overheat). i guess it's better to just wear a cardigan or sweater.
