This is my WW hammie..name Hermes..
user posted image

Currently i am feeding him Oxbow healthy feed, uncle Taro Smoothie, and fresh vegie and fruits daily..

Any other thing??

He is stayin in a small cage now...plan to change to habitrail Ovo..
*
as for the mealworms 3-4 worms will do enough.
i think you should cover those platforms with something...their legs can get stuck easily...and habitrail ovo isn't a good cage...its small...it would be ok if there are extensions...but the problem is hamster have to lay on their backs to drink water.
erm....althought all habitrail cages aren't good(sorry, i'm anti-habitrail tongue.gif)...but as for your preferences perhaps you can go for a habitrail Safari which is considered better that OVO...or perhaps a good, not costly and spacios tank or a bin cage.

Usually instant oats have sugar and salt added in them. Also there isn't much nutrients in instant oats. That's why is better to get rolled oats to feed your hammies.

There are many forms of oats: http://www.formerfatguy.com/articles/oatmeal/oats.asp

Hopes this answer your question tongue.gif

erm...actually you can find many cream banded and creams in The Pet Family, Klang( Bukit Tinggi) and i've seen few albino ones too(quite sometime back)...yeah..they're becoming rare now
and the best part is there are no good certified breeders in our country, unlike in the UK and US where you can find breeders easily...but there are good hamster keepers that breed hamsters which are healthy...at least we have them tongue.gif
btw, what's a calico...you mean tortoiseshell? are they both the same?
ok, the next question goes to all syrian hamster owners : what type of coat patterns have you kept ?
i've had LH cream banded( Sharkie) and currently a SH sable(smoe a.k.a smokey) tongue.gif

why is my syrian hammie liek to sleep...sleep n sleep....never see him play with the wheel more than 1 minute....why ar??  and when i give him some fresh veggie....he seem like scared......is ther any problem??
*
how old is your hammie? old hamsters tend to play less( based on my experience)...
if it's young young and not playing with his wheel, i don't think there's nothing to worry about...i've had hamsters that run less in their wheels...perhaps you can try giving them more ball-time( not more than 15 minutes though)...
as long as he/she is drinking and eating well, then i don't think there's any prob with your hamster.

what wheel are you using? perhaps it is too small? are you using the wodent wheel?
my current syrian hamster never liked running in his wodent wheel( i know, ITS WEIRD!)...But all my other hamster loved running in those wodent wheels!
so, what i do nowadays is just give him more ball-time...and now i thought of weaning him into a open-wheel(such as Comfort wheel) and see if it works.

chipsi beddings are fine because it is made up of european pine which contain lower levels of phenols...
but to be on the safe side, just avoid anything with pine...use paper-based bedding likeBack-to-nature/breeders celect,Healthy pet or carefresh....
IT is so so so hard to fine good beddings in Malaysia!!! hope there'll be more varieties soon!

The bedding is really pricey!  shakehead.gif Though I know they are very good and organic (I'm a  fan of organic stuff). If I'm to use for the 4 cages, I might have to eat grass soon!  sweat.gif

so true! beddings are really very pricey! as said you can use BC(which is used by almost everyone here!)...

question here, i've never used BC before so, i just need a feedback.
is the BC bedding to hard for their feet? mind telling me how much it costs?
and for the Oxbow bedding mind telling me the price too?

But now I learned that certain bedding is also bad!  shocking.gif Sigh, all those unscrupulous manufactures/sellers.

Doing all I can to give them a comfortable n better life~
*
yeah, those pine and cedar beddings are really very bad...its not just the bedding that could be the cause for certain diseases...it could also be because of those scented sandbaths...there are many pet owners that doesnt do research before purchasing hamsters and end up buying small cages,pine/cedar bedding and those fancy sandbaths. and yeah, just wanted to share this thing too, never give your hammies Kaytee food products.
and, i hope your lil one gets well soon...
