waa...make me want one Syrian laa... rclxms.gif
anyone know any breeder of rex coated Syrian hamster? so cute...
*
hmmm... qualified and good breeders in our country in so hard to find...some just breed for the fun of it without knowing what are the genes that should combine and what shouldnt, and when those hamsters doesn't turn out well(health probs, fur prob,etc...)you know what happens next...i'm not saying don't go for these breeders...but just make sure that you know what u must look for and what you shouldnt...

hmm...im going to put Toph and Toby to pet hotel...for 8weeks..
have no choice sad.gif

Usually what are the services the pet shop usually provide in your places?

I plan to give them Toph and Toby's food, so at least i know that they will be eating good dry food. anything else i can give them?
Obviously i can't give them fresh food....i was wandering how to substitute fresh food...preparing smoothie would be tedious for the petshop to do right?

any suggestions?
*
erm...why don't you give them to someone you know(friends,relatives,etc...)to petsit your hamsters...i think that will be a better move.

Feeding hamster with sunflower seed, corn, nuts already make them cut to 1-2yrs live, if your still practise feeding them mealworm, cut their live even shorter.
*
sunflower seeds may be fattening....but i think eating those and mealworms don't cut thier lifespan shorter...if you don't mind me asking, can you please let us know where you came across the article of how did you know that feeding sunflower seeds and mealworms can shorten their lifespan?
thanks for sharing.

Sunflower seed diet is create by local ppl who simple mix up some business ideal to give food for hamster owner to buy for their hamster. Sunflower seed not only fattening, hamster dont have the ability to digest the fat that have in sunflower seed, in resulf, all kumpul in kidney, make is become kidnet falier and diet. 1 sunflower seed have 45% of fat, hasmter no need even 1% of fat per day. See how many sunflower seed your feed a day.

Secondly, CORN, corn will create bloat for hamster, and corn is very hard to digest and is bad thing, but is too cheap, that's why all thing your buy for hamster have the corn thing inside because is cheap and it sell to your with high price. After eating corn, hamster dont hv the ability like us, can fatt, they dont fatt. They suffer, we wont know.

NUTs is lagi high in fat.

Mealworm is high in protein source, it meant for bird, and other worm eating creature like sugar glider and hedgehog. Who teach your to feed mealworm? HAMSTER IS SUPER SUPER VEGETARIAN.
*
i have to disagree on what you've said...firstly hamsters are omnivors....secondly, i guess you're the first person i've ever seen telling that feeding mealworms, sunflower seeds and corns are bad for hamster's health...if a sensible amount is given to them, i can assure you that there will not be any negative effects on the hamster's health...if you think you've done research of what you should give hamsters and you know everything about hamster's diet then recheck on what you're selling...kaytee food products that you're selling is far more dangerous...

Some like kena hunch back and fat face.
Some really small one.
and some big big one.
I wan to ask, big one can be kept in group?
*
the big ones are syrians...and must never be kept together.

hi there..can anyone help me..i dono how to tame my hammie.. sweat.gif
last time i was lucky..bought a very very tame hammie..since i brought her back..i can straight play with her..
this time..my hammie scare die... doh.gif
everytime i touch her..she scares and run into the house..and i near a carrot to her..she tought its enemy..she fight it... shocking.gif
what to do?..i can't even touch her..how to friend with her...
*
well,uh....i had the same prob too...smoe was very shy and was reluctant to come onto my hands and always hides away...
perhaps, try placing some delicious treats like broccoli, sunflower seeds, tofu, etc on your hands and see if he comes onto it...practise this everyday...and also, try whispering to him so that he can get used to your voice...

why don't you try tempting her with food....just place the food in front of him/her...then move the food untill the cage door and untill he/she comes out onto your hands.....

Added on March 30, 2009, 11:03 pmsry..i misunderstand what u mean..lol..okok..i will try..thx.. biggrin.gif
*
or maybe if that doesn't work also...just give her 3--4 days of time to settle in nicely and get used to the surroundings...then,,,maybe place her in a playpen...you sit in the playpen too...let her explore the playpen and climb on you...you must make sure that you don;t get nervous....just a small sacrifice only....you sit in the playpen...let her explore and run where ever she wants...then...you place the food in front of you and see if he comes near you.

Edit 2 : I think it scratch cause the day before yesterday i put tissue and he get allergic reaction but i think before i put tissue for him he seemed ok..

Here is picture of the bedding i use user posted image

From :  http://chipsi-streu.de/Chipsi_englisch/pro...i_classic.shtml (Full info of the bedding)

Edit 3 : Toilet Rolls brand is "Cutie" Compact user posted image
*
i use toilet rools too..the same brand that you bought...i guess that's better and cheaper and definitely cheaper...and for the chipsi bedding i'm quite unsure...i guess it has lower level's of phenols which i think won't be that harmful(because it is from european pine)...just try to avoid anything that has spruce, fir or pine..and also cedar...
my post wouldn't be that helpful..just wait till others post their point of view..

i will try to avoid anything with pine....but from a forum that i normally go to said that:European pine (which I assume that is as it is German) is safe, it has much lower levels of the phenols that can be harmful to hamsters.

Those in the pic are Russian Campbells.... dwarfs.... not syrians.

oops! silly me! btw,i think habitrail safari cage is way to small for two campbells..and fitting two wheels in that may make the cage even cramped...but, i think if two habitrails are there then its fine.
