im not sure when will the pups be 'danger-free'....
but imo...there are risk of cleaning the tank too early after the birth of the pups...

scared the mom will bcome stress with the change of the environment...
i think...if u really need to clean, maybe can change beddings from some areas...
no need to clean the whole tank?

just my oppinion k? better wait other more experience ppl answer...hehhe

there are cases stated that hamster mites can spread on human skin(get info frm web but i nv heard of this problem before). however, me and most of my friends do having our cage in our room and everyday sleep with it since we all are uni student and renting room. but we dont encounter any mites or allergies problems. in my opinion, i think that is becz we make sure that our hamster cage is clean all the time. and most important, once we see mites on our hamster, we will eliminate it immediately before it spread(this is normal as we love our hamster=)). so if u are extremely skin sensitive type or sensitive respiratory ppl, better dont take the risk =).

Thanks a lot for the info, duh... i'm not really sure what are the harm hamster mite can do to human,
don't know whether it will cause
a) respitory problem
b) skin problem (not sure if hamster mite will bite human skin or not)
c) none of the above. rclxub.gif

@vchy: would like to remind you that hamster reproduce very fast...so unless u really wan to breed, i dun suggest u to put male and female hamsters together...smile.gif

@SilverSpoon: depends on ur allergic reaction, if people who are allergic, they can develop skin problem and repiratory problem if exposed to mites...

You mean it will only affect people who are allergic?
I thought mites are blood sucker (like mosquito), so they'll suck hamster's blood and human's blood as well, no?

sorry2... wat i meant to say is... those ppl who has higher allergic reaction are more prone to get it...

to make it simpler, better clean the tank thoroughly to avoid mite infestation... mites are there for a reason smile.gif
