I guess i should get iPhone 2G 8Gb used now. Is really the SQ 2G is really bad than 3G version?
*
not sure what is SQ, but i would anytime prefer 3G (because of its availability of officially unlocked version) albeit less appealing design and composite material as compared to 2G

QUOTE(kerc @ Nov 5 2009, 03:12 AM)
Oh I quite realise that it's not a phone shop or a trading house. However, I believe they have MEP stores right? Which double up as run of the mill mobile phone shops. I was merely wondering if anyone had encountered an instance where a shop had allowed them to trade a mobile phone in as to offset the price of an iPhone on contract.

You can understand why I had considered this as we live in Malaysia, a place where many a thing is possible be it aboveboard or underhanded. I simply thought someone might have encountered such a store.

I do not think my question was excessive in nature, I was genuinely curious. Albeit tart, thank you for your answer.

Cheers.

EDIT: Corrected a grammatical error.
*
Neither do I think my response to your query is, excessive, I mean. And tart is excessive!

The iValue Plans originate from Maxis. Therefore MEPs are bound by their rules and regulations. If you are asking whether MEPs can accept your phone as a trade in for an iPhone which they have in their collection, your question then would be more sensible but not when you are talking about signing a plan which ultimately ends up with 'big brother' Maxis.

Even in a country like ours, certain things are still far from being possible. Hopeful as you may be, I suggest you start telling yourself that things impossible far out-weigh things possible.

I suppose I'll have to look for a buyer for my mobile, fiddles sticks. Sigh.

Considering the iPhone 3GS (among other phones) smile.gif

Now using 012 number but already switched to DIGI, and planning to buy from Maxis reseller at full price, no contract. Need some help with these questions:

1. As the phone is officially unlocked, there shouldn't be a problem using it with DIGI's data plan right?
2. Will there be any problems obtaining and installing apps (with a DIGI sim and digi data plan)

Thanks.

Thanks. If there're no problems using with DIGI without jailbreaking, that'll be great.

Btw, I saw the AppStore guide on Maxis.com.my ... kinda curious, what happens if I click it on the iphone 3GS, how to pay for the purchase of an app (as im on DIGI) ?

Thanks again.

@hsyong,
You will need to setup an iTunes Store Account; you make your app purchases via the iTunes store and not Maxis.

The only thing you aren't able to do with the iPhone 3GS via DiGi is to Internet Tether; at least for now.

I think it's possible right? I've asked at iPhone/Maxis roadshow before... they say can be bought at full price (eg. iPhone 3GS 16GB @ RM2490) and it doesn't matter what network you use.

@hsyong,
It is possible only if Maxis allows you to make prepaid outright purchases. Thus far, most forummers have reported it's not available, for now.

Just asked... only the iPhone 3G can be bought without contract at normal price... 3GS must be bought with contract.

Maxis/Apple doesn't want my money biggrin.gif ..............looks like it will be Maemo or Android for me.

or you can always opt for i3GS sold by sellers in the Garage Sales (which are mostly sold at a higher price, as compared to Maxis's outright purchase offerings).
