@Lord_Ashe,
Yes.. U can thank Maverick Wil for starting this thread and our very hardworking davidgary73 for compiling all the information together biggrin.gif

As to getting an iPhone 2G, Y don't U look at either the 3G or 3G [S] instead.

@Lord_Ashe,
If and when you've decided on the 3G and looking for a 2nd hand unit, do think of me yah? *smiles*

@young,
Just becareful about the data streaming coming in via GPRS/EDGE/3G. U don't want to end up with no more credit but that way at least there's a cap, unlike the post paid users biggrin.gif

@manchurr,
There's no unlimited data plan for prepaid users under Maxis. Am not sure about DiGi & Celcom though but assuming you buy the Prepaid plan from Maxis, they may just give you some free data each month. i3G users got 500MB p/month so maybe it'll be alike for i3GS purchasers too.

@mogomogo,
Did U read the thread nokia2003 provided? http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=635333&hl=custom

Also, almost 90% of the time, customs will check what's in the box.

@tabs,
The i3GS sold in USA are all tied to a plan. Even if U can get urself a unit, U will need to go through the unlocking process and as davidgary73 has mentioned, it may be a little problematic when it comes to firmware updates.

It's also best if U found out more information before rushing to make this purchase; esp since the product is made available for us Malaysians by Maxis.

@grunge,
If it's going to be the same price as getting an official Malaysian set with warranty, Y bother bringing it back, right? tongue.gif

@dopp,
Jailbreaking the phone will void the warranty but if U restore the phone back to factory settings, no one's going to know U jailbroken the phone in the past tongue.gif

@Lord_Ashe,
Er..I don't think U can check from just looking at the data usage; and even that can be deleted or reset back to 0 *smiles*

@dopp,
I guess Maxis also prefers U to use the i3G/i3GS with their network than their competitors biggrin.gif

@ansonliew,
No U don't need to JB the phone in order to use it. There is a difference between Jailbreaking & Unlocking.

For information on Jailbreaking & Unlocking, please refer to http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/984406

@ingjoo,
Information on SingTel i3GS sets are available at http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1087010

We don't have much information about Taiwan & UK though so U will need to gather those information on ur own.

@varickgoh,
If U can afford it, go for the i3GS. U'll definitely NOT regret it.

@pwncake,
RM500 is good $ IMO. I wouldn't pay RM500 for that phone U described.

@samlee860407,
Not sure Y ur i3G wifi doesn't work - I've upgraded mine and have had no regrets thus far biggrin.gif Sold the i3G to finance the i3GS *smiles*

@charger,
I've no idea Y ur friend said that but performance wise it should be the same. It's just additional HDD that's all.

@charger,
It's pretty personal. I know of people who needs the 32GB cause of additional storage but I also know of people who got the 32GB because they were kiasu even if they don't utilise half of that [I belong to the latter] oops.gif

@tabs,
If it's cheaper here in MY and if ur based here, I see NO reason Y U should trouble ur friend (and urself) to get a Thailand set when U can just conveniently get it here; well, convenient if not for the stock issues but still.......

@davidgary73,
hMm.. this Buy.Com for real or not one?! I didn't know USA sets were officially unlocked tongue.gif

@chingwooi,
The main difference between the i3GS and the i3G is really in its speed. I upgraded from the i3G to the i3GS and have had no regrets. I believe U won't have much regrets either. Also, I've in the recent times, passed on my i3GS to a cousin from Germany and now back to using i3G and I find the processor speed really really slow! [except I'm not complaining cause it's better to have a phone to use than nothing at all!]

@chingwooi,
I never equated the iPod to iPhone so I don't think I can help u there. As to sound quality, I thought the i3Gs quality's better than the i3G but uhm.. I'm no audiophile and don't listen to songs via an earphone.

@jlstriker,
U don't get more data later, U just have to subscribe then. However at the present moment, Maxis hasn't released any data plans for prepaid subscribers.

@bb.supplements,
Read up the purchase guide here http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/871684 and check the model number to ascertain it's a genuine iPhone. Or, bring a friend who can tell the difference biggrin.gif

@deepan84,

@mr.anutta,
No one here can answer the question but at the moment, most forummers are saying Maxis is telling their customers 1 month.
