QUOTE(mdzamri @ Feb 9 2009, 07:20 PM) hey guys, just wondering because im going to SG end of March. Where should i buy Iphone 3g 16gb? I heard my frens saying better get it from SIm Lim Square. Price around SGD1000 for 16gb Singtel set without Singtel contract of course!. Why lowyat forumers are selling damn expensive? around RM2700-RM2800 for 16gb? Is it because of the warranty? Better to get from lowyat seller or buy from SG since im going there.. read post number 4.that's a naive question i believe; who in the right mind wants to make a less profitable transaction if given a choice? so long the serial number corresponds to a SingTel origin unit (regardless of the place of purchase), the warranty stands (provided you can obtain a receipt). to find out how does the serial number works, read the first few posts of this thread. |

QUOTE(uniquexme @ Mar 22 2009, 10:50 AM) guys, lets say i use celcom, and i want to get the iphone 3G from maxis, so i retain that number, but whose signal coverage i m getting? celcom or maxis? coz celcom line is weak in my home. thanks... errr... if you wish to retain your old celcom number to the maxis network, i can only assume that you are keen on the MNP.having said that, if you have already ported over to maxis, of course you are using their network. |

this whirlpool thread will be helpful to those whom are interested to purchase a telstra locked iPhone units and unlock it subsequently i.e. MB489X/A, MB496X/A, MB500X/A
and the statement below summarises an important bit: "The restoring in iTunes completes the unlock process. So, even if the iPhone has been flagged as unlocked (in the itunes database) it will always say that foreign sims are unsuported. Until you have restored it, and let itunes install the unlocked version of the operating syste," |

QUOTE(teikwing @ Mar 24 2009, 01:57 PM) you can request from some sellers for your phone to be activated first. most Singtel sets are activated nowadays, unless you request for sealed sets. that's what i've found out. or alternatively you check on the box itself (though i do admit that it is not hard to swap boxes) |

QUOTE(c28 @ Mar 25 2009, 08:09 PM) can anyone help me? i am so confused with all the complications of getting a legally unlocked iphone 3G. Budget is 2700 for a 16GB set.. AFAIK, iPhone hasn't been launched officially in Brunei yet. hence i have no idea on how the so-called warranty will work to be honestim not staying in malaysia, im in Brunei at the moment. could u see if this set is okay? http://www.qqestore.com/product_info.php?c...oducts_id=14369 it states that "This is an original Apple iPhone set which is SIM-FREE version (no need to "unlock" for it to work) by Apple. It works for any telco globally including DSTCom and B.Mobile" but i dont know.. i heard so much stories about i3gs getting bricked when updating the firmware cause the phone was not legally unlocked in the first place and i DONT want this to happen. This phone is a bit pricy compared to those in malaysia but i do not mind as it has 1 year warranty compared to those i have seen in low yat (i went there last month). so any suggestions will be greatly appreciated |

you have my utter respect as you can tolerate answering his questions (in fact you have mine already) so this is your definition of skinning cats in the kindest method feasible. This post has been edited by nokia2003: Apr 5 2009, 03:53 PM |

taken from dictionary.com
noob = newbie = a newcomer or novice, esp. an inexperienced user of the Internet or of computers in general. spoon fed = 1. fed with a spoon. 2. treated with excessive solicitude; pampered. 3. given no opportunity to act or think for oneself: Having always been spoon-fed, I couldn't meet the challenge of college. |

QUOTE(PeeEl @ Apr 5 2009, 05:32 PM) I take your first statement as a compliment. TQ. this is my last post regarding this issue. What I actually said earlier was.....you can skin a cat in so many ways and that does not necessarily mean that it is in the kindest manner. Give a person some room and; if and when he/she oversteps his/her boundary, we can then embark on relevant actions like ignoring. The opposing party should then know his/her place. But again, to each his own. Whether you choose to admonish or ignore is very much dependent on one's demeanour. There is no wrong or right in a forum like this. Having said that all of us who post questions should know what to do, prequel to posting, if we are matured enough and that is not in term of age. you don't have. i was indeed, sincerely complimenting you; wasn't being sarcastic at all |

i have another personal story to share (again!). sorry la, those who have attended TT sessions with me, will know that i always have a lot of cerita donggeng to share...
so davidgary73, please use your discretion to moderate this post anyway, this $299-only-iPhone-3G has always bring back a very unfortunate and unpleasant scenario when i was in university. this incident is still so vivid in my mind, as if it has just happened yesterday. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « yahoo ranting session is over! to those who are keen on getting an iPhone from australia, can proceed to here for the 8GB version and here for the 16GB version respectively.
however this only applicable if you can find someone legitimate to open a contract for you. or alternatively you can always purchase the pay-as-you i.e. prepaid version and top up the account to unlock it. this method is less hassle compared to the first method. QUOTE(hihihehe @ Apr 17 2009, 12:29 AM) nope! only new contracts, obtained online.sorry mate. better luck next time i suppose? i'm also taking a hint that they wanna clear all their current iPhone stocks? FYI, a lot of stores in australia have difficulties securing new stocks. and the sale of iPhone 3G in australia has already touched 700000 units! (another FYI, maxis only took in 100000 units) |

optus australia has a new revamped offer for the iPhone 3G!
and i quote "get an 8GB iPhone 3G for $0 upfront on a $59 cap now" take note that this offer is only enticing IF you are planning to use the allocated and bundled tariff. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |
