yeah. i got a yoyo colleague who sold off his iphone 3G and told everyone that he is bored wit it. But when he saw my 3GS, he went and booked a unit.

hi any 3g /3GS iphone owners can test out and clarify if it can

1) upload picture photo to Lowyat.net / ebay
2) can login into (online banking ) i,e M2u or paypal site..?

1. this has to be done via an external picture server (for example photobucket) and from there, obtain the URL for the said image. however for some blogs, like blogger, you can e-mail pictures directly from the iPhone.

2. yes. as a matter of fact, paypal, actually has its own dedicated iPhone/iPod touch app, to ease your paypal related transactions.

generally speaking, any web based sites that have stamped its existence on the app store, will have the ability to upload pictures directly (yes, there is a dedicated app for facebook on the app store).

not too sure about maybank. but since it doesn't incorporate any java/flash (assumption), maybank2u online should work as prescribed.

um. as think to get an iphone (200g) for traveling around china for 6 month instead carrying netbook 1kg)

i can assure u tat m2u works just fine on the iphone...
just tat if u receive TACs, then u hv no choice but to write it down then type it, or u can try copy paste...

thks i think i get Ipod touch 3G 32 or 64gb (wifi & mp3& storage for photo) .. as i dont need phone and HSPda . Iphone 3gs ..expensive & no point .using it during hike

Buy what you need ... it's your $$$. If you want to get an official iPhone 3Gs from Maxis, there's a (ridiculous) waiting period to purchase the phone. There are always alternative like phones from singapore, australia or such that can be purchase here in LYF but with a higher price tag.

If you need a phone and a multimedia device, iPhone is for you. If phone function is not important, then get an iPod Touch but you will only be bound to a WiFi hotspot to access the internet. Not to mention the iPod Touch does not have a camera like the iPhone 3Gs (with auto focus).

Since you said you want something light for traveling, the iPod touch would be great as the roaming data charge would be astronomical.

As for maybank2u, I've on few occasions made transactions on the iPhone on the move and it's a very convenient device (paired with a data plan).

Again macpro2 ... it's your call. Try the device first at any Apple Retailers and make your decisions.

I am currently in Canada. I am thinking of getting a 16GB iPhone 3G [S]. I am not sure how much it cost, anyone able to advise?

If I buy iPhone 3G [S] here, will it be a locked version or unlocked? Can we unlocked it ourselves? Will it void the warranty?

We don't seem to discuss too much about Canadian sets; U can however get information on cost at http://www.apple.com/ca/iphone/buy/

Am not sure if the iPhone 3Gs from Canada will be locked or unlocked but I've a feeling it remains a locked unit. Yes U can always unlock it urself (though I don't recommend it) and yes unlocking it urself will void warranties [but that's not a big issue since U can always restore everything back to normal before U go claim warranty]

Funny enough, I dont see a price tag to a 16GB iPhone 3G[S] in the Canada Apple website.

Would a 16GB be enough for iPhone or better to go for the 32GB? I wonder what is the price difference and is it worth paying more for just capacity without any functionality difference.

Not even sure whether to go with the black / white case. Does the white gets dirty over time?

you can this this as a rough estimate for the price differences.

the white doesn't get dirty, but if there are cracks, they will be more prominent against the white based iPhones.
