QUOTE(nokia2003 @ Sep 8 2009, 03:14 PM) however you have to remember that for majority of the working class population, they are using some sort of "company mobile phone/line" and therefore switching over to another network may not be feasible. companies typically get special corporate rates and they may not rival maxis' iPhone packages and implying that they are not financially sensible. I concurred with that as i too bought an outright iphone 3gs and used my celcom 3g staff price broadband RM50 per month unlimited!!!! Nothing can beat that hihi

Oh yeah, my posting refer to Maxis user.
And if you can get the factory unlocked like from Maxis or Australia, then using it on other carrier is a clinch!
As for the data plan, I guess you can get away with no data plan provided you know what you doing.

This is more so for folks considering any mid-high end touch screen phone which cost easily 1.3k onward to 2+k.... With only 12 months plan at Ivalue 2 of RM155 permonth, its only 1790 or 1290 for 24 months. If you are heavy phone user, even better. Go for Ivalue 3 and get it cheaper for iphone. And getting Iphone without data plan is a suicide plan! Iphone by design is data intensive gadgets which is why all coutries selling them with data plan. Even the lowly ivalue 1 from Maxis come with 500mb worth of data... which is about 13-14mb daily or 1gb for ivalue 2 which come with 80 dollar worth of call and 12cents per min. If you buy own iphone, you need to subsribe P80 and RM58 data plan for 500mb. That is already 138 vs 155 where you get a subsidized iphone for 1290 or 1790. If you can get Australia unlock unit at less than 1.8k for 16gb, then its worth the effort given the out lay is the same with no commitment. Otherwise just take 12 month plan. How often you change your mobile carrier anyway.... QUOTE(gamenoob @ Sep 8 2009, 09:45 PM) Oh yeah, my posting refer to Maxis user. Thanks Nok. To a certain extent, we have reversed roles. You being kinder in your words and I should exercise more patience. Having said that, there are more and more 'contributors' to this forum which for want of a better phrase should know better than to come out with 'gems' best kept to themselves. Not that they should not post but on occasions, they either mislead or say something which is far from being helpful but cluster the threads here.

@wigilante, Possibly - I will add that model number to Post #1 now. It sure is interesting to see so many different model numbers for this particular region. Then again it might be the same for the other places except we aren't tracking.

@nokia2003, Get it replaced just before U get urself the new upgraded iPhone in 2010. That way when you sell your i3GS U can claim it's almost brand new. The bad thing about it being brand new is that U can't quite test to ensure things are functioning the way it's supposed to be.

@viosowner, I've just started using the MobileMe service but thus far, I haven't experienced any battery issues. I'll do a test this weekend - then again, I'm not getting as many emails on my MobileMe account cause it's still new - and report back re battery status.
