Hi Everyone,

Chinese New Year is coming soon, I guess a lot of people are planing to service your car air-conditioning. When talk about servicing, we always care for the PRICE that workshop charged as well as their SKILL.

So, I decided to wrote down some standard price for servicing car Air-Conditioning.

Refilling Gas

Gas R-134 = Rm45+
Gas R-12 = Rm30+

To remove coil unit, compressor, condenser and hoses for cleaning, servicing, flushing systems, refill compressor oil and vaccum

Standard charge will be around Rm150~Rm200 ( NOT INCLUDED replacing new receiver drier and expansion valve ), you need to change new drier to prevent your A/C system get wet, it will spoil your car compressor, TRUST ME that will COST A LOT to fix it.

(P/S: Charges will depend on what car model. M/Benz, BMW etc.. will be more expensive because they need to remove your car dashboard before than can take out the cooling coil unit, around Rm400+)

Hmm, if got bad smell everytime you turn on your A/C, most probably is cooling coil problem. Dirty coil will causes those kind of smell or sometimes some insects die inside your cooling coil unit. Basic A/C service will solve your problem.

It depends on workshop, normally it will cost around Rm200~Rm250 include replacing new drier and valve.

Greetings... My air con outlet (grill) left and right is koyak already... Do you sell and install those outlet? Furthermore, I feel there is air coming in the middle outlet even when i did not on my aircon.

I think i'm running of aircon gas bcos the air is not so cold and badly need of servicing. My car is Proton Wira...

p/s: What is ur operating hours and do you open during public holidays and weekends?

My kancil's aircon very fast not 'cold' anymore...

May I know what is your kancil year model ? Kancil have old and new. Old model install by Denso and Sanden. New model install by APM.

my car aircon got problem.. when travel outstation...during beginning of the journey it is ok ..after an hour traveling..my aircon air will like got something blocked...the air coldness is still there ...but the air blowing is weak...so if i switch off the aircon for like about 10 mins and switch on again...the aircon work like normal again...but it still back to the 'air block' problem after awhile traveling...what is this problem with my aircon? is it something 'freeze' inside??

Normally, when the cooling coil is freeze, it will not block the air flow. Only become not cold and with smell like when u open 'refrigerator'.

Try adjust the blowing position panel, adjust to your leg and adjust back to normal position. It should be that cover auto block ur air flow.

Normally it should be every 6 months, air filter should be quite dirty. Please service at those experience workshop, or else, tak de rosak pun jadi rosak!

My eight years old Wira, when the car is moving, the air con is working perfectly. But if i stop at traffic light, there is no cold air. I have replace the compressor, and the gas pressure is ok. Air con fan also working ok.

The compressor you replace is re-cond? Sounds like your compressor does not compress enuf preasure at low RPM. This normally happened to poor quality compressor.

HIGH RPM = AC gas circulation faster = cooler

Bro, does the price of refilling gas is different if the gas is still there (e.g. half) or totally empty? I got a quote RM 30 refilling if the gas is still there and RM 60 for empty.

normally workshop fix the price for every single refilling aroud Rm27~30.

Well, Rm60 sounds quite fair if your car a/c gas are totally empty. It depends on the market refrigerant gas price also.

May i know how do we know whether they have re-fill the gas sufficiently? i have recently re-fill gas but still see some white bubbles in my cylinder, is that a sign that not enough gas?

1. If the bubbles show in ur receiver drier only once a while, it perhaps due to high temparature. It should be fine.

2. Turn On ur a/c, u should see clear refrigerant flow through the sight glass. Turn the system off and watch the sight glass. If there is refrigerant in the system, you'll see bubbles during the off cycle. If you observe no bubbles when the system is running, and the airflow from the unit in the vehicle is delivering cold air, everything is OK.

3. If you observe bubbles in the sight glass while the system is operating, the system is low on refrigerant.

4. Oil streaks in the sight glass are an indication of trouble. Most of the time, if you see oil in the sight glass, it will appear as a series of streaks, although occasionally it may be a solid stream of oil. In either case, it means that part of the charge has been lost.

Added on November 5, 2009, 7:52 pm80,000 km should be about time to go for a service. Your cabin air filter will be quite dirty, is about time to change.

Cabin air filter is very important as many people dun really bother to pay attention for it. It will make sure the passengers inside your car can breath in clean air. Once it is completely dirty, u need to change it because it will eventually trap x6 times germs compare to open air that keep flowing in your car. The price just about Rm50.

As for the labour, normally it will be Rm150. Drier will be about Rm40. As for expansion valve, i guess still no need to replace it if your air cond still can feel the cold.

Est will be about, Rm 150 + 40 + 50 = Rm190. ( As the price will be vary depends of the item brand)

would like to ask a question here regarding my car air con,
It started to have the Cool and No Cool but after i turn on and off the air con a couple of times the problems just fade away...
i went to a shop to get it fix or look at....and they say its the Compressor pulley that is causing.
so they change the pulley and the problem is solve(temporary)
until last week it came back and it gets worser this time.
is it the compressor pulley?
is it my vbelt ?

Hi, i am not sure which model your compressor is, since wira compressor is install by Denso, Sanden and Patco. You can look for the sticker below your windscreen.

As for the warranty, brand new compressor do not have warranty. Even BMW or Mercs cost thousands also dun have warranty.

If your 2nd compressor still under warranty period u can ask them to replace a new 1.

I do not think that car will pick the suitable brand for compressor.

Brand new compressor from China? Personally, if can.. please do not try. Not China products no quality, but i believe ppl who import China products in Malaysia will ask for cheap quality for cheap price.

DENSO compressor will never provide warranty, unless it is a rebuilt compressor. Those workshop dare to offer you 1 year warranty means they will charge you in for the insurance as well.

If at nite you still can feel the cold, that means your compressor still working fine. You should do some basic AC service at reliable experience workshop. You can have a look of your condenser FAN, see whether it is still working, you need the air from the fan to help your ac condenser release heat fast during the day.

Hi, my Myvi 1.0SR year 2005 Denso aircond compresser is spoilt. How much do you sell for this? As mentioned by some of the workshop, I will need to change the whole new aircond system which includes condenser,cooling coil, dryer, valve and etc as the system is contaminated. Is this true? Is it necessary to change condenser and cooling coil because of the faulty compresser? Is recond compressor reliable than new one? Why does new compressor have no warranty but recond compressor have? Can you recommend a good and professional work shop for this to be carried out? I don`t wish to go Denso service centre in shah alam as it`s very expensive. TQ.

for the air filter, depends which quality you need, price range Rm40~80. As for the normal aircond service, flushing the a/c system, clean your cooling coil, it will be est. Rm150.

Again, it your car didn't sent to service for quite some time, I recommend you to replace the receiver dryer and your expansion valve as well. Drier will be about Rm45, as for the Genuine HCC (Halla Corparation) from korea - Rm90. The different will be much significant.

Hi Dennis, you have some serious problem for your car a/c.

After your car a/c compressor spoilt (jam), your can find dark dirty oil from the compressor oil you pour out. The tiny dirty dirt will inside your whole a/c system, the key is here, some workshop do not help customer flush the car a/c system clean before replace new compressor unit into the car. End up another jam compressor or even worst.

you have 2 choice,

1) As they mentioned, change the condenser, cooling coil, receiver dryer, expansion valve and the compressor. [Best solution but expensive]

2) Flush the a/c system clean, use back the old condenser and cooling coil after vacuum out the dirty oil and flush it clean. Expansion valve and receiver dryer MUST BE REPLACE NEW UNIT, install back the compressors. This will be cheaper.

Expansion Valve is a very sensitive parts for the a/c system, it control the pressure for the refrigerant gas. As for the dryer, it will be totally useless if your compressor are jam, inside will contain lots of dirty oil.

I do sell New DENSO or Re-built compressor.

Why new compressor do not have warranty? As I mentioned, too many factors will cause the compressor failure, workshop do not flush the a/c system clean from a jam compressor system. Do not replace new expansion valve and receiver dryer, lack of compressor oil inside and etc. DENSO - such a gigantic company, not they do not trust their products, they do not trust the mechanic who install it.

As for re-built, normally 1 month warranty is provided with terms, compressor not jam when claim. If noise, lack of pressure is found for the rebuilt, you can ask for replace a new unit.

I normally assign walk in customer to a few workshop which we trusted, many customers we introduce to fix there are happy with the results. Even my Honda CRV also fixed there. Price is reasonable and with skillful workers there.

Hi, Iswara 2003 aircond system should be install by UCM, you can check from the sign plate located under your windscreen. The replacement condenser will be about RM150, cooling coil be about Rm120, expansion valve Rm70 (Fujikoki Japan), receiver dryer Rm35.

Since you mention you do not have leakage, why don't you just sent for an air cond service??

I own a Inokom Atos Y2007 car, air-con never been service before but I noticed that every time it is turn on, the sound of my car engine becomes loud. Do you provide air-cond service, and how much do you estimate mine will cost?

Hello~ some says about 60,000 km, you need to service your car a/c. But I think that you did not need to, as long as your a/c still feel cold. By only replacing the air filter, it will helps you keep you car cooling coil to be clean.

When a/c turn on, your engine need more power to pull the compressor, it will becomes louder. As long as not too noisy than it is okay. For a normal service, if you car about 2 years never service, you might you need to replace the receiver dryer, which only cost about RM45, and the labor will be about Rm120~150.

-clean your cooling coil
-vacuum and flush your a/c system
-add some compressor oil

the price will differ depends on the workshop.

If that is the case, may I send it over to your place? Do you need me to make reservations or I can walk in?

Yea, cheras area we used sent customer to MB Car cooler to fix. I just fixed mine CRV's condenser recently. With my new condenser, cooling coil and valve~ the air cond so cold now.

how can you say if the cooling coil leaks bcoz my car needs to refill gas every week. i've checked the piping and there is no oil leak as i noticed.

hmm, to check whether is the cooling coil leak, they will throw the coil into the water to check whether got air bubbles show.

But sometimes some minor leaking from piping or condenser also can happen.

I do face the same problem as you last time for my Honda CRV 97.

This might due to a few problems.

1) Did not service your car A/C for long time. (Expansion valve, gas refill, receiver drier, cabin air filter)


2) Your condenser A/C fan is not working, it is design to help you condenser to release heat fast

3) By flushing your cooling coil, condenser during your A/C service, it will helps your A/C gas flow more smoothly, that will help.

A normal service,

Labour = RM120 (remove your cooling coil and wash with coil cleaner, using recycle machine to vacuum out your A/C gas and pass through is built-in filter to clean up)

Replace new expansion valve, and receiver drier, and air filter as well. (cost you about Rm100~120)



Sometimes can smell outside exhaust smell:-

try check the button on/off that allow outside air to come in is turn off.

If that does not help, i guess the cabin air cover didnt close properly. When you do your a/c service, you can ask them to check, they can simply add some foam tape to seal it.

so total around rm240 right? Is it recycle gas= change gas? Can you fix the cabin air cover thingy? Where is your shop by the way?

Do you have any shop recommend to fix my aircond in Sri Petaling or OUG area?

Went to aircond shop twice, after refill for one week, no more cold air blow out. Did service the aircond and ask them to find the leak, but they told no leak.

Ask me to change the compressor to "try". Is it possible compressor cause the leaking?

Recycle gas = reuse back your gas inside your car a/c system, and also the gas will be filter by the machine and goes back to your car a/c. My office is located at Tmn Connaught, but i am sorry we do not provide any installation or fixing services, cause we are wholesalers. Maybe I can intro you some workshop near Cheras.

The workshop ask you to replace the compressor to " try " to solve the problem?? He must be joking, seriously.

Leakage can be anyway, it can be cooling coil, condenser, the join of the liquid tube, hoses part and etc. Is it possible for the compressor to leak? Yes, it is but rare, unless you just replace another unit re-built compressor, due to the poor O-ring rubber or they did not even change a new O-ring rubber.

AE101 compressor is just normal Denso 10PA15C, which will cause you about RM300 for a re-built.

I recommend you to check with others workshop to ensure the correct part to be replace, or else just waste unnecessary $$.

Thanks for your reply. I feel suspicious as well when he said the compressor probably the root cause, but he cant confirmed that will fixed the problem.

They just used bubbles to find the leak in the aircond pipes, joint, and said no leak in cooling coil when serviced the aircond.

So far they only replaced the filter + service + change the cooling fan (said it malfunction) and cost me Rm300. They got refill the gas when I back to the shop second time with no charge. Is it reasonable?

My Kancil 850 auto 1996 air-cond not cold, only fan working.
The mechanic said compressor/pump nt working.

He sugggest change compressor and change air filter and refill gas.
compressor recond (3month warranty)=rm280
Labour+refill gas=rm80
air filter=rm60

Is the price reasonable? change air filter require?

*i never service my car cond for 4yrs already.

For the price I will let you know when I back office tomorrow. Of course our price will be cheaper.

By the way, the workshop just ask you change a recond compressor + refill gas + air filter ??

I recommend you to change the receiver drier, expansion valve as well, 4 years old drier and expansion valve should be replace as well or else your new recond compressor may not last long. Drier is too absorb moisture in your a/c system, so that your internal parts like compressor piston will not get rusty. As for the expansion valve, it is somehow control the coolness of your cooling coil.

For your info:
How about your car A/C gas? Have you check the gas level cause it might be the problem for your a/c not cold.

Hi, I own a Proton Iswara year 2002. Last 2 year, my car air-con system give my stale smell. I then take it to workshop and have it pump the gas. I week later, the same smell come again and I go back to the same workshop and they check where they notice the valve is faulty which need to replace.

Now my car air-con again gives me the stale smell and there is seems like water dripping from the bottom of the compartment of the front passenger seat everytime i on the air con to max temp? what would be the cause and any idea what should i replace?

stale smell ?? Is it smell like icy or watery? Will your problem fixed after you pump the gas?

I am quite sure that valve do not cause " smell " problem. Unless there is leakage problem from the cooling coil.

If there is water dripping out, either your cooling coil casing did not seal properly or the connection of the rubber hose for the water to drip outside the car loosen.

hi there, i have a proton wira, my air-con set was changed in january this year and the compressor belt just around 2 months ago.
now the car air-con is hot when im stationary- not like lastime, even stationary, its very cold. dunno why leh...damn not like outside air. but when the car moves, its colder..
i dont think its the gas....but i dunno.. u have any idea?

Hi,

either your a/c condenser fan is not functioning well or your compressor pressure not good.

When you maintain stationary, try step on the acceleration pedal to gain higher RPM at 2,000 ~ 3,000. If you feel cold by doing this, means your compressor did not perform well like last time.

For the A/C fan, it helps your condenser to release heat, if it is not functioning, while stationary your air cond will not feel cold. Unless when your car is moving, with the air blowing away the heat will makes ur air cond feel cooler.

I have a problem with my waja"s a/cond. The compressor will cut off when under hot sun/sunny day. The fan working properly. After I shut off and on back in next 5 minutes it will be working i.e cold and if I stuck in traffic jammed it will be cut off again. If I driving on highway or long distance, the problem not appear. I already sent to a/con shop, they also don'n know what cause the problem. Can any body help me before I spend my money for nothing.

i am no aircond expert but from my experience with my previous aircond problem, I think maybe you are having heat issue. Probably problem with the electronics sensor. Have your aircond guy check that?

As I know, inside your a/c system there is a part name thermistor and thermostat, it is design for temperature control.

Or, there is a switch attach biside Waja Patco compressor, if the compressors get too hot, it will also cut off the compressor power.

Recently, my Wira 1.3 not so cold during hot sun. At night work pretty fine. Recently, when i turn on the a/c switch, i can hear the continuous 'eeekkkk' sounds from engine bay. When i rev a bit, i can hear the awkward sound more clearly. When i turn off the a/c, the sounds gone even when i rev it.
Is it possible the compressor will gone soon? FYI, I refill the gas and change drier a few months back.
My condenser never change before since I buy the car. Do I need to change it or just service enough? What is the price for original condenser which use under 1.6? Or just stick back to normal 1.3 condenser?

Bro, 1 question, my air con is perfect before went through accident.
After all the repair, the air con wont be cold if my car is not moving in the afternoon time, some time it even supply hot air. What happen to this? Needed service? For Facelifted myvi how much will the price of it?

You need a normal air cond service, they will take out your cooling coil and use chemical to clean it. I guess the coil will be very dusty. Since you have replace new drier, you might just replace your expansion valve as well.

As for during hot sun a/c not cold, normally is the a/c condenser fan motor problem due to release heat slow.

For your problem, same as above. Check your a/c fan motor, see whether functioning.

If you do not feel cold when car is not moving

Secondly, switch your gear to "P" or "N", try step on for acceleration pedal ; stop at about 2,500 RPM and check whether cold air is coming out (this is for testing your compressor providing enough pressure or not )

Car production after year 1994, R-12 gas was no longer to be used on new car since it is not environment friendly. Which means, all car after year 1994 will be R-134a gas system.

Or you can tell by looking your on the sticker or label under your windscreen near the engine area.
