strange, that WakeUpSMS trick actually works for me. As I understand about the phone operation, disable this WakeUpSMS will cause the phone to NOT notify you about SMS arrival when your phone is in SUSPEND mode.

Added on April 24, 2009, 3:14 pmI'm using Dutty V3 XT now, and without all those problems you guys had.... so it could be ROM related.

my guess is that it's ROM related also.. smile.gif

if u just got it <24hrs, i think you can try asking the seller to change 1 to 1.
Else, 1 dead pixel is pretty common for LCD displays..

You need USPL method to flash to Dutty V3.0. First you have to flash to a 1.56 stock ROM before flashing the Dutty v3.0 ROM.
Dutty V3.0 Radio is 1.13.25.24

The Dutty V3.0 is a BEAUTY drool.gif

EDIT: Having second thoughts about posting the serial no. So deleted it, unless Mod can confirm it is OK.

Really tempted to go for custom ROM...from what I read Manila V3 support landscape mode including messaging...although been reading many time the instruction @ XDA forum, I just worry that the flashing process will go awry...maybe I'll just hope that HTC will release the updated official ROM for SEA soon...

DrWho, how's the performance compare to official ROM? currently using stock ROM version: 1.18.723.3 and Radio version: 1.09.25.14...reception is ok and so far no major hang but still got some minor bug...as for battery life, if is in standby then quite lasting but once start using for music playback, video, calls etc, especially activesync / sync with PC the battery life will drop quite fast...Battery with 20% left couldnt even last me for 20 mins of music... sweat.gif

KayK, if you're not comfortable with cooked ROM, don't flash it. If you're adventurous enough, and more risk taking, go ahead and try the cooked ROM. Dutty V3 is just one of many cooked ROM out there, heavily tuned, optimized, removed some redundant/useless software included in the stock ROM, but some also added 3rd party software, and include all the latest HTC apps like Manila v3 that was supposed to meant for Diamond2 and Pro2. But with cooked ROM, you can now have it with your HD, and FASTER, STABLER than official stock ROM.

when you stress your HD with music, video playback, of course battery drain very fast lah. The actual battery saving comes from how often the phone would poll for signals when it's already in suspend mode, how strong the signal strength the radio antenna need to fire, as well as to ensure minimum memory resident / background software that keep polling for CPU resources even though you don't need it.

@ Giovanni and Sweetcow,

Are you guys using cooked roms?

*
Nope. I'm using stocked ROM.

QUOTE(termignoni @ Apr 22 2009, 6:37 AM)
happened to me once or twice within a day or so.. make sure u clean ur ram, the phone will become sluggish if u have many programs running in the background.. if u try cleaning up ur ram often with 3rd party apps such as CleanRAM, then it will be fine.. i'm experiencing this prob only with WM6.5, non with WM6.1..
*
I usually terminate programs when they're not in use. I'm not sure about RAM cleaning and never tested on it. But i guess it isn't a RAM issue because the HD has a lot to spare.

I've also notice the "Today timed out" setting in Start > Settings > Today. It is set to 4 hours. I'm not sure what it does. Maybe it is due to this? Default is set to 4 hours, maybe after 4 hours of inactivity, it goes into some sort of state that doesn't alert for new notifications, probably to preserve battery life? Just my wild guess.

QUOTE(maesus @ Apr 23 2009, 11:56 PM)
danlegion and sweetcow, for your SMS late notification problem, try this registry edit:

HK_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL
"DisableSMSWakeUpEvent"=dword:0
Or you may use HD Tweak to enable "Wake Up on New SMS".

*
QUOTE(termignoni @ Apr 24 2009, 12:25 AM)
that is a different prob bro.. that edit is for when your HD does not wake up (lights on) when an SMS comes in..

this prob is different, u have to switch the phone on from standby, then only the msg will come in or appear.. sometimes u need to open the messaging program, tap on inbox then only it will ring and the message appear..
*
Yeah, i think that registry is to turn on the screen when a new SMS comes in. That is not exactly what i wanted though. I prefer the screen to remain off upon new notification. If possible, don't want it to even turn on to notify it's battery is running low. Switching on the screen consumes more battery isn't it? Why does it automatically turn on the screen when the battery is already running low? rclxub.gif The LED indicator is already a notification, maybe just another beep to alert.

If it works for you, i think the screen is turned on too right? I wouldn't want that if possible. That is why i didn't apply the changes.

I probably agree with you. Maybe HTC could provide a hotfix for it?
I wonder whether HTC ever knew this issue.

maesus, your statement really tempting me to flash to custom ROM...well i'll just wait a bit longer to see if HTC coming out with an updated official ROM...the last ROM update was quite some time ago, so i'm keeping my finger crossed...

at the mean time, i'll search for most suitable custom ROM out there...

My experience with the original ROM was about 5 hours before I flashed it to Dutty v 2.8. I found the untweaked original ROM to be very slow, slower than my well tweaked Omnia! I regretted purchasing HD until I flashed Dutty ROM.

With Dutty V3.0 ROM, I have not experienced any hanging or bug, so far. Battery life is more than 2 days. I charged my phone last night with the battery strength of 25% after 2 days of usage! If you intend to flash Dutty, I would recommend strongly that you spend some time reading the instructions CAREFULLY. An extra hour or two for reading will ensure problem free ROM flashing. From the XDA forum you will note that quite a numbers of users who have flashed but are still having some problems. I believe that they did not FULLY followed the instructions

been reading the flashing instructions on the wiki-XDA-dev website...i might go for the USPL method as it seem to be simpler...once i get use flashing ROM then i might go for the HSPL method...

I wrote to HTC SEA bout the possibility of the 1.56 ROM to be released in SEA...if they dont reply by some time next week, then i go go ahead and flash to custom ROM...

There is only one official ROM for Malaysia/Singapore, that the one you have. Any other ROM will void warranty. Who Cares! brows.gif

My stock ROM is 1.18.723.3, which is StarHub WWE ROM...i have that starhub operator logo (which i finally removed)...

here the latest ROM available in HTC SEA website:

SEA WWE(for Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines and Cambodia)

ROM version: 1.18.707.3

Radio version:1.09.25.14

StarHub WWE (For customer who purchased from Singapore StarHub shops)

ROM version: 1.18.723.3

Radio version: 1.09.25.14

Telstra WWE

ROM version: 1.21.841.1

Radio version: 1.10.25.25

so basically SEA WWE and StarHub WWE ROM is the same...
