Hi All,

Its my first post over here, I've been lurking all the while tongue.gif (sorry~!)

But it seems that there are a few questions which I wanted to ask, was already asked by someone else. Unfortunately, it wasn't replied by anyone cry.gif Therefore, I have to register and put myself into scene.

Just to recap:
Are all SiS shipped Touch HD units supplied with SanDisk 8GB microSD? Or could it be other brands such as Transcend etc?

My own personal question:
Touch HD is really really nice, but its a bit wee expensive. What makes it so expensive as compared to other sets? (Especially the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, which is very much cheaper but also with the same specifications - GPS, Wifi, Touchscreen, everything!)

Thx all! thumbup.gif

lol memory card m not so sure

secondly touch HD is expensive because:

1. it is a windows mobile phone (the software itself costs more than symbian)- makes it a PDA (Pocket PC) not a smartphone
2. the screen resolution and size is different (5800 is QVGA 3.2in) whilst (HD is WVGA 3.8in)
3. comes with more RAM so u can have more stuff open without worrying it close accidentally
4. Touch HD has a 5MegaPixel camera
5. it has the ability to create word documents and excel spreadsheets
6. Dedicated Youtube application

these are just some perhaps others can add more  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
Wow! Thanks for the fast reply.

1. How much roughly does windows mobile cost?
2. What is the difference between a PDA (Pocket PC) and a smartphone?
3. QVGA and WVGA that much big difference? (Anyway I still like HD's MASSIVE screen!)
4. It has a 5MegaPixel camera, but no flash, which, doesn't make much difference? (especially at night)
5. Probably some third party applications are able to edit documents as well?
6. Youtube (Symbian is now able to support flash doesn't it? So its almost the same?

Do mobile phones hardware cost very expensive? (RAM, graphics, etc) If so, maybe that's why the HD is way much more expensive as compared to other phones. Still wondering why the HD cost almost 3X of Nokia's 5800! rclxub.gif

Any HD users here regretted spending so much on this gadget? hmm.gif

1. no idea but I think the licensing is quite a bit more
2. Pocket PC are supposed be "substitutes" for laptops, smartphones merely complement usage with a laptop
3. yes QVGA is 1/4 the resolution of WVGA meaning if u view a webpage on both phones u can see more  of it
5. yes but u either have to ahem or buy the license, HD already comes with it out of the box
6. yes but the dedicated youtube application is similar to the one of the iphone/ipod touch way more user friendly

well yes bro the quality of HD is a lot better compared to 5800...

I've read on LYN some users of 5800 have found cracks  rclxub.gif  icon_rolleyes.gif

sorry for this late reply was busy
*
Hmm....I still think that either the 5800 is priced too low, or the HD is priced too high sad.gif

QUOTE(FishnChipx @ Jan 6 2009, 12:42 AM)
few more thing to add for touch hd ~
1. can use stylux while nokia nope ... isit ?
2. G-sensor ~
3. Movie quality is alot better then nokia
4. TouchFlo 3d ~
5. Looks more high class den nokia....... tongue.gif (juz kd)

haha
*
1. 5800 has the stylus
2. 5800 also has accelerometer
3. It can play movies, just that its pixel is less (just a little less)
4. Has also a user-friendly interface (but the TouchFlo3D looks more cool rclxms.gif )
5. Definately more high class (the price also high class rclxub.gif )

QUOTE(contreasjun27 @ Jan 6 2009, 01:01 AM)
I agree with #5 haha...
HTC definately higher standard than nokia in terms of usage and functions
*
What do you mean by higher standard? The 5800 also has most of the functions HD has sad.gif

QUOTE(FishnChipx @ Jan 6 2009, 01:27 AM)
i think should compare like this...
why use the 3k++ to buy pda ? since 3k++ can averange / above averange laptop already...XD
*
Very true and agress with it. Most of the people around me says that too

QUOTE(ciderblue @ Jan 6 2009, 10:03 AM)
still waiting for working solution to play RMVB on windows mobile... sighh
*
Why after so long WM exists, but still no support for RMVB???

QUOTE(adyalisme @ Jan 6 2009, 03:12 PM)
Yup. cable is via usb. Touch pro is able to play tv out. I saw the cable in LY selling for RM100+ for original HTC cable. The only problem with HD is that it does not have the software setting to play TVout like touch pro has. If in touch pro, the setting is in Setting/TVout (if I am not mistaken)

I tried google it on the internet but failed to find anything on HD with tv out. Hopefully there will be soon.  hmm.gif
*
It'll be good if the HD can do that too

Only TP i think for now. I do not know about diamond. I asked around and they said HD cannot play tv out for now. I am going to send an email to HTC customer feedback regarding this and see what they can respond.

Added on January 6, 2009, 5:21 pm

Hopefully HTC will come out with software bundle and a tv out cable for HD. Hey, i traveled and packed some movies and series too during my journey.  thumbup.gif  I completed the whole season of Journeyman thru HD in Langkawi, Ipoh and Perlis last week.
*
Hope HTC will give a positive response

What format are the files in?
Did it lagged?
How is the battery life? (hours) hmm.gif

Looks like you need many charges to complete that series huh?

All HD owners here care to share their supplied microSD brand here?

The problem is....... everyone says the supplied microSD in the box is SanDisk! rclxub.gif

Quite fancy huh?
*
Thanks for the picture thumbup.gif
Hmm... it seems that its almost totally black... I still prefer the silver one biggrin.gif
So the flickering bar issue seems to be solved, but the flickering issue also happens in the system status screen also. Is it also solved with this hotfix? And did the screen turn "black" too as well?

Anyway, the flickering issue won't harm anything except the human eyes right?

About the new hotfix, what is the slide to answer fix about? What's wrong with the slide thing anyway? I just don't understand the description. Anyone can explain more in detail about this issue?

the problem with the slider fix is there is an overlapping text "Call Hi... "(Call History) appeared on the Phone Dialer dialog. This overlapping text prevent the video call switch button to be tap-able.
*
LOL, thanks for describing the problem that occurs after the hotfix.
What I wanted to know is the problem before the hotfix, which causes the hotfix to be developed.

Thanks anyway icon_rolleyes.gif

QUOTE(adyalisme @ Jan 10 2009, 10:10 PM)
nope i dun think the system status screen changes.. it stays grey..

Previously, (like me) whenever i received a call, i have to slide to the left to answer.. Sumtimes, i had to slide 3 times until it follows my finger (almost gave HTC a finger that moment  biggrin.gif )... i think the hotfix is to fix it.. unfortunately it create another problem. hehe.. so i uninstalled it back. for now..
*
Thanks for explaining the problem! I understand it now! thumbup.gif

And by the way, if the system status screen still stays grey, it will be still be flickering then...right? hmm.gif
Anyone with sharp eyes able to detect it?

Hmm... I thought that the "Hot fix for improving the on-screen slider feature for answering calls " was removed from the website due to the bug?

Is the one downloadable from the website now is the new version? or it still contains the bug?

If I'm not mistaken, I remember that is was removed some time ago...wasn't it? hmm.gif

I found out the problem... the HTC website has some errors.

When you choose "ALL", it only displays 2 of the items. But when you choose "HotFix", it displays all of them.. rclxub.gif

sweetcow, the latest hotfix is for camera viewfinder though...
*
Yeah.. I know nod.gif
Just that when I go to the HTC website, when I selected "ALL" , the latest one (camera viewfinder) doesn't show up.

And about the "Slide to Answer" thing, I thought that there is a bug, isn't it? Why did HTC still allow downloads for that hotfix? rclxub.gif

Anyone downloaded the "Camera Viewfinder" hotfix? If I'm not mistaken, it seems that once the hotfix is applied, you can't undo the action, unless you hard reset it, right? I personally thinks that this is not that good shakehead.gif

Heard that Windows Mobile 6.5 will be introduced next month. Can people using WinMo 6.1 can upgrade to WinMo 6.5? Will that be free?

Microsoft plans more versions: Windows Mobile 6.1.4 (coming February 2009, with new Internet Explorer), Windows Mobile 6.5 (coming summer 2009, with Zune service integration) and Windows Mobile 7 (coming 2010, with multi-touch and central application store).

officially we have something else coming before 6.5
*
Hmm... if so, can existing users upgrade?
If its HTC, I suppose that have to wait for HTC to release the upgrade right? (It'll most probably be free thumbup.gif , i guess)

But... Will that be possible to upgrade? unsure.gif
How about windows update?

Added on January 24, 2009, 12:57 amI was browsing the htc accessory store and found out that they are selling 2 different data cables, 1 is a mini usb and another is extUSB (11 pin). What is the difference between those two?

the mini usb is cheaper than the extUSB 11pin.

mini usb

extUSB 11pin

If I'm not mistaken, the htc supplied cable is extUSB type.

The ExtUSB combines mini-USB (with which it is backwards-compatible) with audio input and output.

Thanks for the reply. Now I know the difference with ExtUSB and mini-USB.

I did some research myself too, but am still confused. Is ExtUSB what HTC calls? Or its just another standard USB type that everyone calls it, just like the mini-USB? What is the difference between ExtUSB and EMU (Enhanced Mini USB)?

Anyone tried the new ROM update?
*
Wow, there's new update already. So fast.
Does that means that new units will be shipped with this update in it?

What is the update about? HTC website doesn't seem to provide much information. I only see this "* You may get an error message when trying to customize tabs in TouchFLO 3D."

If it is the problem with TouchFLO 3D, can't it be resolved by reinstalling the TouchFLO 3D application?

It states that once it is upgraded, it cannot be downgraded. Is it true even if I hard reset the device?

Anyone which tried the upgrade found any other changes / new things?

I think I understand now. EMU are backward compatible with mini-USB. ExtUSB is a kind of EMU. Correct me if I am wrong.
