Hey, just a question.

The A50 is so expensive, why did you buy Astro product when you can spend the money can get audiophile headphones like Audio Technica, Beyerdynamic or even Sennheiser?

Just curious  hmm.gif

wireless, decent sound. plug and play for console, for pc, no need fiddle with much settings, comfy. Most important factor would be wireless. Some ppl have money to burn, they have their own audiophile headset for audio listening purpose, while a50 for gaming.

Important is whether u got the money to burn or not. no money to burn normally go for value buy, got money go for whatever that is expensive, even with marginal improvement and pay extra for stuffs like wireless, ANC, bla bla. when u buy 1k+ audiophile headset, u need to buy DAC la, head amp to drive it la, alot of things u need to fiddle with. Not everyone wanna fiddle with so many config.

Any of you tried the steelseries elite?

Is it a joke or worth the RM700+ price tag?

Holy crap! 700 bucks for a steelseries? rclxub.gif

Can't wait for Head-fi to get a crack at it. Maybe steelseries has something on their hands that they think can command such monies.

I'm looking for a headphone too, but definitely not the Steelseries Elite.

Looking at V-Moda Crossfade LP and Audio Technica ATH M50 biggrin.gif

but still haven't decided yet

imo the ath-a700 closed headphone beats the m50. i wanted to buy the m50 once but after testing it, was not impressed by it. i already own the a700 n it sounds more full. however the m50 LE (limited 50th anniversary) is impressive n better than the normal one.

dunno bout the vmoda crossfade but the is a version 2 for that.

Depends what platforms are you gaming with. Astro A50 is made more for the console gaming experience. It is also wireless so there is no need to sit near the tv to game. The mix amp provided is to provide surround sound simulation, similar to what PC soundcards do.

However on PC gaming, there is a reason people prefer audiophile grade headphones.

In the end, as long as you are happy with your sound and equipment.

They don't call themselves gaming headphones, but a lot of people actually use them for gaming.

Just curious bro. Happy you got what you want! smile.gif

How much did you buy your ATH-a700 closed headphones?

and

Where did you test them out? I'm looking for a retail shop in PJ/KL area that has vmoda or audio technica headphones for us to test.

The A50 is a horrible headset for the price. Too much emphasis on the low end, the mids are drowned and there's zero sparkle on the treble.
Soundstage is subpar and instruments seperation is just barely passable.

Not to burst any A50 owner's bubbles, but for the amount of money paid for it... you're not paying for sound quality, but for features instead.
I still honestly think it's overpriced even for the features alone.

Yeah normally higher than online retailers. But the good thing is U get to test it with diff amps and see how the sound with different types of song.

Also the items you bought can b tested first so peace of mind is there.

In SG items are priced higher than online as well but it is a norm there if you need their warranty service. And it is always nice to test a few headphones of the same price range to see how all of them compared.
