So even with a USB soundcard still doesn't worth the price right ? You saying that a 5.1 is better choice at the trend right ? I guess I will go for stereo or 5.1 then...

No. You can give it the best soundcard or the best tube amp with the best DAC, it'll still sound like garbage.
And no, I'm saying that "real" surround sound headsets are bad entirely. Be it 7.1 or 5.1.

Stick with stereo.

Just remember, unless you're a mutant you've only got 2 ears. Not 7 or 5.

Thumbs Up.

Even with stereo you can hear all those Dolby, 3D or whatever clearly (at least you can feel it). Stick with stereo.

Nothing is wrong with surround sound, whoever said it was?
What is bad is the so-called advertised "true surround-sound" headsets with multiple drivers in it.

What kind of soundcard specifically?
Also what type of a listener are you? A basshead, someone who wants clarity over anything else, in between?

Budget? I'd recommend Audio Technica for a tested and proven quality in audio production. Only thing lacking is a mic.

That means you basically do not have an actual proprietary soundcard.
Your soundcard is an intergrated one.

Be it "gaming" headsets or audiophile headphones, they do not differ in one thing: getting sound to your ears.
So if price isn't a concern on your end, why not get an audiophile headphone?

Otherwise if you absolutely need to have a mic attached to the headphone, the Sennheiser PC360 is all I can recommend you with. The new Sennheiser PC350SE is also not too bad of a choice if you prefer a closed setup.

There will be a whole sea of amazing headphones if you are willing to invest in a proper soundcard or an external solution.

No.
Just stay away from the Tiamat, really just do yourself a favor and spend the RM700 elsewhere.

Why? Read my earlier post at the top of the page.

Totally agree with bro SSJBen. Tested a Tiamat before, my verdict was RM7xx = Kiamat.... RM700 can fetch u an ATH-M50 or Fischer Audio FA-003 or ATH-AD/A700X, the list goes on.

Tiamat has all the consumer gimmicks a person would ever desire but without the necessary audio quality that should always be the main priority. Gaming purpose? Then it should emphasize on audio not the fancy box or the products aesthetics.

Can you guys recommend me a headset? I'll be playing music from TwoStepsFromHell most of the time and mainly slow songs.

I wanted to get the Rosewill RHTS 8206 at 1st due to the pricetag, but am having 2nd thoughts because it's USB connected. I plan to use it 80% from my Android and 20% perhaps watching movies or something.

Budget is indeed an issue, but if I get poisoned, it increses doh.gif
It stands around the price of the Rosewill currently at 200 bucks.

An added mic would be great (but has to be detechable!)

When you say Android, I'm assuming from your smartphone or tab.

The Rosewill 8206 is not for portable use, as first of all, this headset is heavy at 450g. 2nd is it is a USB connection with a dongle and a 3 meter long cable. And 3rd, surround sound with different small speakers that vibrate doesn't play music very well.

I can recommend the JVC HA-S400 which is regarded with respect in the audiophile community, is foldable, portable and fits your budget. You can find in the LYN Garage http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2646610/+20

If you need something cheaper and with no warranty, get the Superlux HD 681. Another awesome set for a budget.

Please note that the above 2 does not come with any mic.

Thanks for the recommendation. Another of my friend actually recommended that I go for the Superlux 688B, which fits my small budget lol.

I need noise cancellation by the way doh.gif

Is there anywhere that I'm able to test this Superlux? I don't mind the lack of warranty, only if that brand is renown for it's durability.

The HD688B is a great choice, tried em out before. A real steal for that price tag, sound quality wise.

Pretty much answered your own quesiton.

Pick either the 668b or the 681.
In comparison though -

668b
- Tight and quicker bass
- Slightly recessed highs (you might not like this if FPS gaming is your preference)
- Warmer sounding than the 681 (including both the f and b editions)
- Narrow soundstage

681
- Bass is fuller sounding (fatter), but doesn't punch as well as the 668b
- Bass can be somewhat inaccurate depending on the source
- Very prominent highs, can be quite fatiguing on the ears but this is good for FPS.
- Decent soundstage, but not wide

There's also the 681f and 681b, F = flat and B = balanced.

I personally prefer the 681b the most as I seem to find the normal 681 highs to be too pierceful for my ears. EQing the highs does help a little bit.
But because I'm both a PC and console gamer I do not have the privelage to EQ the 681b on a console.

The 681f is very bass shy though, almost non-existant.

They're all pretty much under the RM200 price range, so choose what kind of sound signature you want.
