Introduction
On the look to replace my cheapo headset, I found the Rosewill RHTS-8205 gaming headset. The Rosewill RHTS-8206 priced competitively at RM199 and comes with fancy features such as 5.1 surround sound and vibration feedback. So, I (a non – audiophile) am giving a little review on my first gaming headset.

Packaging & Content
The Rosewill RHTS-8206 comes in a package that looks more like a studio headset. The headset is connected with an inline remote that can use to control the volume, mute the headset and mute the microphone. The cord length is 6.6 feet.

The only flaw to this design is that the headset ends with a USB head instead of conventional analog 3.5mm audio heads. On the other hand, the headset ensures plug-and-play USB installation.

Performance
The Rosewill RHTS-8206 comes in a small package, but it is not to be look down upon. The headset carries 6 speakers and 2 subwoofers giving a true 5.1 surround sound. The onboard chipset supports up to 7.1 virtual surround sound. Other than that, the headset also comes with vibration feedback function to enhance gaming experience.

The Rosewill RHTS-8206 feels solidly built and it comes with a lot of cushion paddings to provide extra comfort. I have never tried other gaming headsets before but the RHTS-8206 is kinda heavy for me. The ear cups are supra-aural, which means they are circular and presses against the ear. These combine to make my ears feel hot and discomfort over long hours of gaming, although the soft cushion material do provide some comfort for my ears.

The Rosewill RHTS-8206 also comes with a flexible microphone that is detachable for easy storage and prevention from accidental damage. I have tested the microphone by recording some speech and chatting in-game. The voices are delivered clearly. The voice cancellation feature is able to reduce background noise such as the humming of my fan and pc.

To test the sound quality, I tried to use the headset to listen to soft music songs and some loud My Chemical Romance and Abingdon Boys School song. The headset responded with very precise clarity at soft songs (I think the audiophiles regard this as clear mid-range and high-range tones). However, when it comes to loud songs, the background music clouds the vocals of the singer. The bass are very deep and albeit a bit muddy. When combined with the vibration, the feel bass are even deeper.

Next is to try the headset on watching movies. Once again, the clarity of the mid-range and high-range tones produced by this headset is proven. Character conversations can be listened clearly, and a lot of minute background noise can be distinguished as well. When it comes to action movies, I can feel every punch in the movie thanks to the deep bass and vibration feedback.

Three hours of Call of Duty – Modern Warfare 3 on the Rosewill RHTS-8206 with the vibration at full blast makes my head feel dizzy from all the excessive vibrations. Some minor discomfort comes from the lack of ventilation from the ear cups that are pressed against my ears.

Conclusion
Pro: lots of features at low price, vibration feedback, solid build, amazing audio quality, foldable design, noise-cancelling detachable microphone
Cons: slightly on the heavy side, over-the-ear design, non-breathable ear cups, use up a USB slot
