Thanks for the recommendation. Another of my friend actually recommended that I go for the Superlux 688B, which fits my small budget lol.

I need noise cancellation by the way doh.gif

Is there anywhere that I'm able to test this Superlux? I don't mind the lack of warranty, only if that brand is renown for it's durability.

Noise cancellation? Or do you mean noise isolation?

Noise cancellation is actually a term where the headphone is purposely built with a button, that activates a frequency to kill all ambient sound from the environment. That's active noise cancellation. Not recommended for portables especially walking in the street unless you tend to travel a lot in a plane or bus. Unfortunately you can't find any good headphone with active noise cancellation for under RM200. And most critical headphones do NOT use noise cancellation, it's more of a necessity rather than a feature. People buy it for listening to music in planes because they want to silent out the continuous drone of the plane engines and air conditioning.

Noise isolation is how well the headphone pads isolate your ears against the ambient sounds of the environment and how well it keeps the sound of your music in your ear. This is passive and depends how the headphone is design whether it's a closed or open back and if the ear pads are well made to cover your ears. It's actually very easy to do this and most manufacturers can totally close up your ears if they wanted to isolate you, but it will mean your ears will be very sweaty and hot. So most headphone makers have to find a balance between noise isolation and comfort.

I use the Superlux HD 681, it's under RM100 and it'll blow your mind for that price.

My mistake, should have been noise isolation.

Sounds good. I'll probably go take a look at Superlux.
Do you know where I could possibly test it? I'm from Sunway

No mic for this model. Best is to get a standalone mic to do the job.

Razer Kraken Pro
- Has a more pronounced bass, very heavy and thick
- Bass is uncontrolled
- Bass is rather muddy with no punch, bloated.
- Highs is almost non-existant, very recessed and blanketed
- Mids are fairly decent, surprisingly neutral
- Horrible harmonic distortion, forget listening to piano tracks
- Earpads are comfy... for the first 20 minutes, after that it gets too warm
- Decent mic

Superlux 668b (I assume you're talking about the 668b)
- Bass isn't as pronounced, but is significantly tighter
- Proper, controled punch on the low freq, not a bunch of "wuuuuub wuuub" mud crap like the Kraken Pro
- Mids are detailed with much better depth than the Kraken Pro
- There's a sense of crispness in the highs, but not very harsh that it'll pierce your ears
- Good harmonic distortion, at least listening to most piano or high trebled tracks won't result in white noise
- Stupid headband design, this is a personal complain.

Hope that gives you an idea of the both in comparison.

With everything included? If so, it isn't too bad. The decoder box alone is worth RM200.
Just don't expect the headset to excel at anything at all.

The AX 720 was very uncomfortable for me too, but that was when I hadn't broke the ear pads and headband in. Considering your friend's set is a used one, it should be better.

I migrated from damn-heavy Roccat Kave to simply V-Moda Crossfade LP2. Clearer sound with non-excessive bass compared to Kave.
