all i know is turtle beach had good soundcards way back then...now looks like they concentrate more on headsets...
dunno why would anyone want to pay so much for PX21 and get basically no warranty...must as well get the sib v2.
*
I wouldn't say it is very expensive, RM340..top up few bucks from Kave.

no point la...if all sellers here grey set with pathetic 14 day warranty i must as well get from SG.
btw, ban leong SG are distributing turtle beach...so maybe can convince MY to bring some in...

Added on July 6, 2011, 9:51 amsince on topic of PX21...
lets see...GS here RM340.
ban leong SG srp is $109 / RM270, means outside cheaper.

if ban leong here bring in, probably around same price also, with full warranty.
*
lawl, then you convince them to bring 'em in tongue.gif I don't think it is a gamble, cause lots of console users love PX21..but it'll make them butthurt cause of longer warranty.

Tks for the feedback.

I did some research over the net, and the more I read the more my head spins rclxub.gif

What I read is that the 7.1 USB headsets are actually 7.1 virtual surrounds using either Dolby or THX. They don't need any additional external soundcards, just plug them into any USB port and ready to go.

These headsets will be Creative Tactic 3D Sigma, Logitech G35, SS 7H USB.

Am i correct?

How about the non-USB types? Do they need external soundacrds? Are they true surround and plugs into the L,R,C, SL, SR, SBL, SBR and SW ports?

Appreciate any info to stop my head spinning.

how does chimaera compare to corsair hs1 usb? I saw the corsair review at hardocp is impressive, especially its surround system, but i scare te music listening experience will be kinda lousy..

seriously i am eyeing on this corsair hs1 headset, the price kinda nice and i saw good reviews out there, but i hardly see any of u speaking about it >< Looking for a decent replacement for my piranha which is kinda headache and stupid to use for long time, lousy design pfft..

i need good music yet can do well in gaming especially in direction sounding..

hey! to obtain virtual sound you could actually get a china brand sound card which would cost you only rm 30 and works very well compared to those other manufacturers are using..

my friend who plays competitively uses a china brand sound card and a 5hv2 could get a surround sound from his 5hv2 which is important to him because he plays left 4 dead and he needs to hear ever detail of the sound..

all headsets only come with 1 3.5mm jack and not true surround sounds like u mention with many plugins..

To hear every detail u don't actually need a 5.1 or 7.1 , a damn good stereo headphone will guide you, it has soundstage also, I sound whore footsteps with my Siberia v2 without a sound card , good enough for me, no 5.1 , 7.1 crap for me, stereo is the way to go IMO.

and actually gaming headphones requirement doesn't need full of ah beng bass or whatsover bass u call.

if a headphone is too boomy and the footstep were covered you can't even position the enemy's step clearly.

victor, ur 880 is 600ohm ? brows.gif
use it to play game ah damn syok tongue.gif

Tks, Experts, for all the feedback.

I'll have to reconsider my requirements vs availability of hardware/software before amking a final decision.

What I've gather so far is Kave will output real 5.1 only if the game has 5.1 sound, and stereo when it's only stereo.

A virtual 7.1 will output virtual, not real, 7.1, irregardless of whether the game is stereo, 5.1 or 7.1.

The latest trend is virtual 7.1 headsets which have the soundcard built-in.

Finally, a good bass should not be boomy, but sounds tight and grips you when it slams.

if you guys want a good cheap stereo headphone without a mic. find Superlux, those are best bang for bucks. but sound card you have to find one for yourself. for Virtual surround, i don't think it's a big deal, since most game has it's own virtual surround, it doesn't really require you to have a sound card that has virtual surround system.

Sound card is only important for those users that wanted higher quality audio, for Surround sound, i would take that as marketing gimmick( for those headphone that claim to have built in virtual surround soundcard )

Games now even has it's own virtual surround engine. i don't think you really need that.. even cheapo headphone without soundcard could know where's the sound comes from certain direction in old games just like left 4 dead.

I myself using it.. using both their speakers and headset now..

The headset is quite impressive.. have to install CD driver for the software tho.. The sound is quite decent, not the best out there but confirm the most comfy..

Im using both HS1 and 7H USB now but for gaming i will still go for a 7H USB.. easy setup great sound.. but 7H for listening some music nt tat nice..

Surprisingly its doing well with my xfi, giving me good enough positioning sound smile.gif satisfied, maybe will try some dolby headphones out there, hs1 is 1 of the cheapest headphone with dolby i guess, another choice would be g35 but i no confident in logitech headphones lol..

You should have tried the HS1.. its one great headset, altho its Corsair 1st time coming out with the headset but the comfort and sound is really good.. HS1 may look simple and china like but the sound is thumbup.gif . If you're seeking for comfort, i can really tell u the corsair 1 is the most comfortable headset i used so far.. Better than sennheiser, audio technica, and so on.. thumbup.gif
