A different analogy.

Let say you support a football club, currently they are winning trophies and everything else, suddenly they are not winning and going through a slump (like Liverpool who have not win the championship during the last 19 years). According to your analogy above, you and many others will desert your club and support the current winning team AMT like Man Utd.

For Neogeo and myself, we will still support our football club which are going through the crisis because through they belong to a special place in our heart.

Am I wrong to use this for example?

No... fan support..loyalty is what important.. i was sega fan... sad no more consoles from them... nevertheless still buy games (published by sega)

I grew up on Nintendo ( I played the Microgenius aka NES console) last time. Contra, Super mario bros 2, 3, etc etc. Such fond memories...

But now no more. As I grow older, I slowly got hooked up with PS & Xbox. Games like MGS, Halo, Gran Turismo appeals to me more...

Nintendo, you will always be in my heart forever... cool2.gif

Only thing I can think of why Wii dominates because users think they are not just playing games but also at same time (delusionary) exercising, in a way healthier..........by just moving a portion of their arm? Secondly it's cheaper.

This is a flawed arguement since Wii fit only released in Dec 07 and May 08 whilst Wii are released in Nov 2006.

The cheaper reasoning is VERY true. Everyone LOL at Sony when they announce USD599. I think its Kutaragi who even said that gamers are willing to have 2 jobs to buy PS3. laugh.gif laugh.gif

Kyo, I agree with u.

Let me explain further.

Fanboyism is like when you fell in love with a HK Singer for example Vivian Chow (Zhou-Hui-Min), those olden days she is sweet, cute and her smiles can kill you. You fell in love and u bought all her music, and watched all her movies. Then she grew old, she is no longer sweet, so u forgot about her and u moves on. You are in a state call "Fanboyism".

Loyalty is like u and your wife. She was once pretty, but she married u, have your kids, and perhaps not as hot as before. Still you love her in health in sickness, in rich or poor. wub.gif There is not one thought in you that you would abandon her, because of all the things you two went through.

I agree that everyone is entitle to their opinion, and of course they could argue it in a civilised way - like jenniferjen, u r a gentlemen! notworthy.gif
But the moment someone cross the line and start insulting, he should be loathe of his barbaric behaviour. wink.gif

Definately. USD 249 has been a sweet spot for console price. PS, PS2, GC, XBox.

Which makes us wonder what those CEO's at Sony were smoking when they announce USD599 laugh.gif

Perhaps you doesn't mean that majority of Wii's was bought for gift?

If that argument hold true,
there are 40 millions of people bought 40 millions of Wii for another 40 millions of people.
And every single days, there are thousands of people bought thousands of Wii for thousands of people.
Because it is Cheap.

Since when human being becomes so charitable? US$249 is not a small amount of money.

Also, if the argument holds true,
PS2 or XBOX 360 Arcade should be the perfect gift, why it hasn't?

Also, if your argument holds true,
why Wii games were sold in tonnes after tonnes?
Have u look at Wii 2009 games catalogue yet? Noticed the amount of so called "core games" coming?

Wii sold these well, because Nintendo has made a great entertainment device,
that is fun and accessible, and affordable,
and the King - Consumers have spoken with FULL FORCE:"We loves the Wii."

Yup totally agree on this one, the different between loyalty and fanboy.
But for me, i act upon what is rational and favor more to myself, a little selfish but i cant just keep o dishing cash to someone which i had started to lost hope?

For example, corez example, i once will buy all the jersey of chelsea players just to show my support, watch every of their match and telling everyone they will dominate. But if they truely did poorly, till drain down to division one (for example lar although is not possible), i hardly to actually keep supporting them, rationally, i should be going to support the capabilities team which provide me spectacular teamplay whenever i watch them play, same goes to England national team right?

For the same concept, nintendo been providing good games over the past, but nowadays, they turn to much broader audience, creating lot of games which might not favor to the regular games who like hardcore/serious games. So if the gamers choice to change or continue to support differenting the fanboy and loyal gamers.

Like I said earlier, I grow up mostly with PS1, PS2 and PC, but i bought the wii first over PS3 cause I think wii are pretty inovative and worth the try, although get a bit disappointed later. After getting PS3, is still one of the best console, with great graphic, power, and nevertheless, most games which appeal to me. not t mention BD movie smile.gif

So in the end, is up to the individual which one to go.

ANyhow, wasnt we suppose to bust the reason of why Wii sell like hot cake this years? Sorry to keep stressing over other console.

Honestly, MS and Sony lost hand-down for this christmas to wii, although MS still doing pretty good for the second choice of console acting as gift for this christmas, Sony is just too expensive and complicated to manipulate for those un-tapped audiences which started to actually play games now.

A really great strategy by nintendo, kinda thumb up to them, but for this generation, i will stick with my ps3, till they release the HD wii in future. smile.gif

Yes. MS is stick to getting the most out of their resources, and basically give up fighting for number 1.
There is now no way anyone could challenge Wii's momentum.
And i gotta admit MS did a great job.

Hey Jenniferjen u already have a Wii right? U will be glad next year, and next year is less than 1 month.
We could be exchanging Wii friend code soon.

Err.. i got a wii surely, but just wondering why do i be glad? If you are refering to the games, i already scout out all the games and not a lot appeal to me actually, conduit maybe, House of the dead overkill surely, or I might try No more heroes and Rising Dead, but other than that, I am not really interested.

Well you might already able to catch my taste of gaming right? icon_idea.gif

Mmmm.... surely they would release that for US right?

Besides the one you've mentioned, Madworld would be nice,
Dragon Quest 10 is going to Wii.
Deadly Creatures, Punch Out, Final Fantasy Echos of Time & Crystal Bearers,
Tenchu, Cursed Mountain..... don't remember all.

Also it is likely that there will be a new Mario or Zelda announced,
as hinted by Shigeru.

Hard time for me, cause i owned a 360 as well,
not rich enough to get all of them.
Also all the retro consoles i targeted to buy....
my goodness, i gotta go to Genting to try my luck,
if not hard to pay for all the games.

there's always dark side for the wii, hehe..... part of the reason why it's thriving here in asia. tongue.gif

i haven't felt the need to pirate my wii, basically because there aren't enough good games on it. yes u can regard that as a complaint but the same goes with the ps3 for me. laugh.gif
