QUOTE(mar_ware @ Feb 18 2009, 12:35 PM)
The only thing I noticed recently is that the capping will start about 20-30 seconds after every connection. Last time was about 5-10 seconds. This measure will make people to register fast speed in speedtest.net. Making new or potential customers think that Celcom BB is fast. Very clever deception by Celcom.
*
Perhaps if the system detects that the connection is downloading consistently at high speeds then it will automatically cap it.

then i would hav to continue using wif my UM bb

i will delay signing up a new celcom line till all is fine wif cmbb

i actually like this UMbb but sometimes the speed is quite slow too but once i use this proxy the speed improves

i ady downloaded more than 5GB but my line is still not cap

finally UMbb only cost me rm68 for HSDPA speed thumbup.gif

what is umbb?

Added on February 18, 2009, 1:56 pmOk got an sms from Celcom saying upgrading network on 17 to 20 Feb from 12am to 5am. You may not be able to use data service. I guess that explains the Edge thingy.

That's quite a long time to do an upgrade. For me I can't confirm but I would say it is just a way to disguise a network problem. hmm.gif

i receive the same sms notification.. i dont mind about it since i usually not online during that time lol..

i have some question here, im using celcom d68, my phone as a modem connected to my laptop..

the problem is, if i connected to 3g (UMTS) network.. i will facing dificulty to submit form on the web, for example each time i try to reply thread in LYN, it will result the page cannot be displayed. same goes with other form, as long as it involve web-base form input.

so, i have to do a manual network connection to GPRS ONLY connection. then i can only submit any form data. :-(

do u guy facing the same problem? is there some configuration on my phone i need to change/modify?

my second question, each time when i want to dial a connection, i need to choose wether to use Celcom 3G Internet setting or Celcom WAP setting.. which one is better and faster?

There are only one obvious problem, congested but only applies on certain areas. smile.gif It's quite hard to browse in congested even though using proxy.

Most of us facing the same problem which unable to browse properly in UMTS/HSDPA network. The network will automatically set some users to GPRS.

Celcom wap is for your phone to access celcom WAP page, will use GPRS network to access. Better stick with 3g internet.

No as it is more related to the area then the location.

My campus WiFi connection with "excellent" connection, library is stronger but not much privacy. laugh.gif

6 more days to the uncapped date... My waiting seems forever. I think I'll downgrade my plan to D68 and use the campus WiFi. It cannot be detected from my room but my apartment and campus is very near, so I can easily walk to my campus. I think maybe I should terminate my Celcom?

Yes I can confirm this. My friend was also complaining about headers being blocked or filtered by Celcom gateway.

Lucky u. I just wish I have other options than Celcom BB. Currently waiting for DiGi... But so far no news wadsoeva... I think if the problems with slow upload are not solved soon, I will terminate Celcom for good in 2-3 months time. Download is too slow. Browsing is limited to light webpages. Uploading files and image is impossible. Pretty much have no purpose using Celcom BB. Apart from switching to GPRS and posting here and reading news... I might as well buy newspaper everyday blink.gif

Anyone around Desa Ilmu can clarify this?
