(Side note : Celcom currently apply the 5GB monthly data bandwidth quota. If the user passes 5GB, their connection automatically reduced to slower speed.)

Why didn`t celcom tell or inform me when i sign for this package. now i`m getting hsdpa with damn low speed. thinking of terminating celcom broadband and opt for digi for stable con.
feel like i`m being cheated by celcom with a superslow, unstable con.

Unfortunately, Sialcom states it in its Fair Usage Policy but not in the advertisements. Common sales trick. Moreover, the word "unlimited" is misleading. After 5GB limit, the connection speed is reduced drastically and there are constant disconnections at night, probably done to "sabotage" users who leave their computers to download. I dun see why this "unlimited" package is unlimited at all.

Too bad that the upcoming package with unlimited Fair Usage Policy only works with 18-month contract. After what I have gone through with Sialcom service for last few months, I am very reluctant to sign with any sort of contracts. Their operation method is just too shady. Perhaps, this upcoming package would have constant disconnections and problems in order to reduce the bandwidth usage. Of course, these all are done for the sake of "upgrading"...

Anyone having difficulties connecting? I always have to dial several times since it always stuck at "transmitting packet". Sometimes requires several times of redial.

My speed for the last 4 days...

Browsing is a bit painful. Even submitting comments here often require several "refresh"es. Download is extremely painful... Yet another top-notch service from Sialcom

Since urs is just activated, it is normal to see the speed so fast. But once u used 5GB bandwidth, u wont probably get that kind of speed anymore. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Anyone have a problem with Celcom 3G automatically "kicks" u from HSDPA? I have been getting it for like 20 times in last couple hours. I have been capped. Yet, they wanna "upgrade" me even better to oh-so-fast GPRS. Now I am surfing the net using GPRS... WOW!!!! I tried making only 3G connection but no luck. And my 3G signal is 4 bar. So I am not sure wad happen but this is certainly killing me!!! Celcom 3G (Gprs, Gprs and Gprs).... ROX!!!

Speed test back to normal after my billing cycle. I think I was capped.

Congrats... I am looking forward for my start of billing cycle. Perhaps that's the only time I like Celcom. After 5GB, well, we all know wad happen after that... Unlimited yet limited by speed. Now I shall get back to my 128Kbps world and slowly choke myself with frustration.

Well, for some days, 166MB is ok. But when I have to get TV series or korn, I ended up using like 8-10% of 5GB. *sigh*

BTW, is Celcom Huawei E220 SIM-locked? I may wanna try Maxis for abit. See whether it is better. U noe, try my luck. Let's hope the grass is greener on the other side. Or "bluer"??

Celcom starts acting up again. I got kicked out from HSDPA to GPRS after every 5-10 min. I tried switching to 3G only but no use. Nothing ever worked. The last time I got this, it lasted for 3 days. Now it started again. Does anyone experience the same problem?

My account has just been uncapped but now it is slower than ever. The funny thing is I tested my speed on speedtest, I got 2Mbps. When I browse or download, it barely goes beyond 5KB/s. Also it seems that some website loads fast, for instance this forum. My opinion on this is Celcom starting some sort of selective throttling. They capped most sites except those popular ones to reduce bandwidth. Even RS is slow for me now... There goes my RS account. No more download... Another good job by Celcom

My result. Download speed is fast. But when really downloading a file, I can only get 5KB/s... Youtube and windows update are ok, though. Nearly 3Mbps. Somehow doesnt make sense at all. Is Celcom filtering download or wad... And thanks to ridiculous upload speed, no YM & MSN for me. I wonder what Celcom plans to do now...

At least now, everytime Celcom salesmen can proudly show their speedtest results to potential customers. Only when they subscribe and fully experience the speed, they will realise it is a trap. And of coz, Celcom can now claim they provide excellent speed (only on speedtest...)

Merry Xmas to all Sialcom users. Let's share the pain together!!! Wait!!! That doesnt sound quite right....

Anyway, finally I can online using MSN, not some meebo or wadever web messenger. Upload speed now better but download speed goes down.... A trade-off, I guess. Dunno which is better.... Good download speed with 9kbps upload speed. 128kbps download speed with 40-something upload speed. I cant live without download. But cant live without upload either.... Tough call!

It is better in a way but worse in the other way. I can upload files now but ironically, my top upload speed is similar to my average download speed...

Wont happen. Unless DiGi starts giving the real unlimited service or Maxis decides to upgrade which is very unlikely... I will definitely switch to whichever better, this is not about brand loyalty. This is about quality service. Even if DiGi is providing 5.5GB unlimited service for the same price or less, I will switch. If DiGi is willing to do so, I bet alot of current Sialcom users will jump ship too. Especially after all the problems for past months.

Now I shall get back enjoying my oh-so-blinding-fast 128Kbps Sialcom for the rest of my billing cycle....

Modem type and signal strength doesnt necessarily translate to the download/upload speed. If ur connection is slow, it is because Celcom throttle it. Well, just have to live wif it for a month or so. See wad DiGi has to offer for us.

Now just have to be satisfied wif 128kbps "Broadband" speed...

I dont think it is congestion problem. The speed always starts off rapidly. For only a sec or 2. Only to decrease to appropriate throttling speed, 128kbps and 64kbps. But surfing specific webpages such as Celcom 3G webpage, the speed is extremely fast. All these symptoms are signs of heavy throttling by Celcom. I think that Celcom has "perfected" its throttle technique. Probably safe to assume that the upgrade they are referring to all these times is this vmad.gif

Ironically, in Celcom 3G page, Celcom defined "broadband" as internet connection above 256kbps. And yet, it throttles users to 64 and 128kbps - well below the defined speed of broadband by Celcom itself. So how on earth this service is called Celcom broadband?! Celcom broadband 5GB + dial-up >5GB...

I cant wait to see wad DiGi has to offer. The slow implementation of DiGi 3G is wearing me thin. Please get into the market ASAP, DiGi. There are plenty of unhappy Celcom customers waiting for you. I dont mind "giving" money to DiGi if it can offer better service. If only there is another ISP in my area... Just becoz of that, I unwillingly and regularly pay Celcom for crappy service.

Celcom has NEVER been trouble-free for a long time. Just days ago, cannot log in MSN. Now, the signal strength in my area is 1/4 of its usual strength. I got to place my modem high up (close to the ceiling) to get 1 bar... Imagine having 4 bars at one instance and suddenly it drops to some level beyond negligence. Speed is as usual capped to speeding-bullet-speed of 128kbps, supposedly claimed by Celcom to be the fastest... Thumbs down, Celcom! Very irritating - problems keep on popping out every week or so. And the very same excuse of "upgrading" is agitating! Calling the Celcom CS is like listening to a broken record. Sorry, sir.... We are having some upgrade and bla bla bla... I also cant find the "real" unlimited package posted here. Supposed to come out last month... I guess since DiGi has not make a move to 3G, Celcom just keeps on pretending to offer "best" services and doesn't bother to upgrade. The usual "DONT CARE" attitude.

To those having uncapped speed despite breaching the 5GB limit, all I can advise is dun get excited too early... I used to be on my first few days using Celcom. After all the months I used this service, I am just praying that there is no problem despite the pathetic speed. After all, there is no other ISP around my area. Or else, I wont be using Celcom.

From speedtest.net, I noticed that the general latency is much lower nowadays, with 300-400ms. Very few having 200+. Previously, I got 200+ all the times. Safe to say, it is technical fault in Celcom's side. Or some intended way to curb the bandwidth... Wicked!!!

Well, I know I have been capped... So download big files is out of question but now, I cant even log in MSN?

One day, I can log in... The next day, fail... This pattern has been repeating for God-knows-how-long... This is so frustrating...

My test
user posted image

How on earth is this an acceptable level of so-called "best-effort" basis... Dun think Celcom put any effort in improving the network at all. They just keep on upgrading their "bandwidth tracking" system. Last time, I am still uncapped even after 5GB. Now, when reached 5.01GB, the speed was instantly changed. I still see some flaws coz some people still get uncapped even after 5GB limit but since Celcom keeps on "upgrading", it is the matter of "when" not "how" these lucky people get their share of agony... When that day finally here, this thread is officially filled with 99% dissatisfaction. I have a hunch it wont be long unless DiGi launches its 3G and steals Celcom customers...

Lucky u. The problem of MSN or YM log-in always repeats. Sometimes ok. Sometimes not ok. Days ago, still can use. See how long this will last. The funny thing is I seem to encounter more problems after I have settled my bill. Dunno it is just coincidental.

I think Celcom has done some tweaking in their system. It seems that it kicks people who use more than 5GB to UMTS after few seconds of connection and thus, reducing the bandwidth to a large extent. A very infamous approach but effective to curb users' bandwidth. I also have problems of sudden disconnections at night and 0kb/s download speed. Whenever I try to reconnect, it will be the same. 0kb/s but have some upload. After 10 seconds or so, I will get kicked out of the network. This happens very often at nite. Especially for the past 3-4 nites. Probably to prevent users from leaving their computers to download...

Well, it seems that Celcom has placed extreme measures against users with 5GB or more on download+upload usage. However, the result of this extreme measures is clear. Every new user of Celcom has reported fast speed. Well only after 5GB will they know the true power of Celcom BB. No wonder I have been reading so many new users praising Celcom's speed. I am not sure why there are some people still uncapped. All I can say is perhaps they are the lucky ones.
