anyone use the Celcom USB Huawei e220 modem in indoor for gaming/download? How good their speed in indoor?
*
Im using Celcom USB (Huawei E220). From my experience, if u always connected to the HSDPA..then connection quite good to play ol game (average 350-600ms of latency, could hv spike lag up to 800ms). With UMTS connection..bad idea, latency too high. During peak time (8pm-11pm usually), got random disconnects..probably due to heavy traffic at that time.

IMO, it depends on how many users connecting to the network at one time, which determines ur connection good or not.

For playing online games like maple or dota, has anyone tried it? I know celcombb is not meant for gaming, but has anyone tried it? Can give some review, like will it dc or something?

Well, I know I have been capped... So download big files is out of question but now, I cant even log in MSN?

One day, I can log in... The next day, fail... This pattern has been repeating for God-knows-how-long... This is so frustrating...

My test
user posted image

How on earth is this an acceptable level of so-called "best-effort" basis... Dun think Celcom put any effort in improving the network at all. They just keep on upgrading their "bandwidth tracking" system. Last time, I am still uncapped even after 5GB. Now, when reached 5.01GB, the speed was instantly changed. I still see some flaws coz some people still get uncapped even after 5GB limit but since Celcom keeps on "upgrading", it is the matter of "when" not "how" these lucky people get their share of agony... When that day finally here, this thread is officially filled with 99% dissatisfaction. I have a hunch it wont be long unless DiGi launches its 3G and steals Celcom customers...

I have no problem on XunLei or BitComet mod. smile.gif
The speed stays constant, just that slower speed on Internet surfing.
I'm on D98 by the way. smile.gif
Honestly speaking your speed isn't impressive for a D98 package. No offence. smile.gif

haha..i knew it but i live happily with it icon_rolleyes.gif
what i meant is,no capped applied icon_idea.gif
anyway, to b truth,it wasn't always like that...nothing perfect! cry.gif

1 more thing,i normally used v3xx rather than dopod 838pro coz v3xx is cheaper is anything happen later on..who knows, excessive heat or whatever.v3xx tends to camp onto 3g even it support hsdpa whereby 838pro normally on hsdpa, dun know why..cud b the phone algorithm, since 838pro was more dedicated for data svcs.so, it justify why the speed perform like d68 whistling.gif

p/s : if i cant get along,it might be 'unhealty' fr me tongue.gif

The speed depends of how many users connecting and network stability. It does not involve which package you're taking. smile.gif

Is it your first month? If does, celcom charge you monthly fee + prorate charges only applcable for first month. After that, they will charge you RM 98.

Take a look on second page of the bill. It'll shows the payment breakdown. Due date usually early next month.

I do not agree 5GB monthly data bandwidth quota..
If we are paying Rm98 monthly and paid for a brand new Celcom U1 modem which cost Rm699 and this is wat we gonna get reduce connection speed after 5gb it's sounds so unfair...

Added on January 13, 2009, 10:58 amhuawei e220 usb modem how fast can the speed goes up to?? Do we still need to subcribe to our local telco eg:maxis, celcom or digi??

You use their service means of course, there's a charge. It's not free after all.

Huawei E220 can accept the network up to 7.2Mbps, and also can accept any other telco as long as the modem is unlocked version. smile.gif

You can buy at garage sales instead of buying straight from telco. You can save a lot.
