chchyong89,
Whoa! First 2010 posting! This thread almost dead ... Good to know it helped out.. Good input caps there! You'll need at least 20 hours.. come 40 it'll be really good! Of late I have not been playing via the T-Amp as my source are mp3s, playing thru the T-Amp sounds 'crap' as it's mercilessly accurate.. thats how bad mp3s sounded thru my main system.. Keep us posted. p/s Happy New Year to you! |

chchyong89,
You can try change C18 and 19 to bigger size, that will improve the bass. You can try different cap material at C14 and 15. From normal plastic to metal foil. The normal one, I like Polypropylene more than Polyester. You can try different size also from 1-5uF. I would say the changes here will give you more obvious result. There are a few more SMC you haven't change, maybe you should change that as well. A |

chchyong89,
I think t-amp more suitable for music than movie. Beside the components, you need a good power supply, if you want to build your own, 50VA transformer is minimum. If you want to buy ready made you will get the one that can supply 1A minimum. Enjoy your mod, it worth the trouble and give you a lot of fun. Since it is so cheap, you can have a few boards and test everything you can get your hand on. Gong Xi Fatt Cai to you. Added on January 5, 2010, 6:39 pmBy the way, there is already some write-up by the sifus here at the front few pages, read on it and will save you time to test everything. FYI, they're not for driving headphones or bridgeable as they're bridged internally.
Read the spec. again. If you want high power, get a different model like TA-2022 or TA-2020.. QUOTE(zxeen @ Jan 6 2010, 04:07 PM) |

Happy New Year everyone!
I've overlooked this topic until recently however, I got more confused after reading many pages of this T-amp (over 100++ pages i cant read all yet).... bcoz, I've been told umpteen times i will need lots of power to drive powerful speakers, even 100W 8ohms is not alot nowadays n is required to drive speakers at a 'comfortable' level - ie. good control... but u guys here seemed all satisfied enough with ta2020 driving it? really jz by the T-amp alone or u add in some power amp or something modded? sorry im really keen to learn so my question maybe a bit bold cheers n happy listening |

toda,
Welcome to the T class amplification! Good effort trying to read 100s of pages and at the same time trying to digest and comprehend what is being said and done.. a daunting task I'd say! Here's the gee's.. The speakers need to be a high efficiency one, at least producing 86dB/W/m. The Tripath T-Amp is running at around 86% efficiency.. running at full power the chip is cool to the touch! You don't drive your speaker at full power all the time, right? I'd say I'm using around 3W to drive my 100W speakers comfortably to enjoy the music.. This is with reference to TA-2024(an 8 watter) If you want higher power, by all means use the TA-2020 with similar performance! The T-Amp is the standalone power amp. You can add a potentiometer for a simple passive preamp or go overboard with any passive or active preamp.. with excellent results of course! The choice is yours! Your questions are valid.. please feel free to ask!.. QUOTE(toda6866 @ Jan 8 2010, 09:22 AM) Happy New Year everyone! QUOTE(toda6866 @ Jan 11 2010, 10:10 AM) It could drive up to 8 ohms, read the datasheet. How long to build one depends on you. I don't think it would take up to 2 hours, just a few minutes drilling on the box to make proper speaker terminal and minor soldering on input jack, speaker terminal to the board etc. Yes JP is a good place to look for components, but do browse around for power supplies as some shops sells them at a premium while some sells it cheap even though it have same brand and exactly the same model |

NIXIE is selling at RM109 if I am not mistaken. xtorm is waiting for MOQ 5 now he has only 2 I think.
I thought of getting one but I already have 5 TA2024! Don't need the extra power although the TA-2020 offers added refinement!.. QUOTE(chchyong89 @ Jan 11 2010, 11:43 AM) |
