so far no standalone players support RMVB (HD 1080i) and MKV H264 1080p..

looks like only computer can do it..

rmvb quality is still pretty lame, isnt it?

still have to get a separate unit to play rmvb file.

mkv h264 1080p the WD tv can support la, no?

that's what I thought until I tried the standalone RMVB players using hardware RM decoders.. way better than the codecs used in PC software..
anyway, some of the movies/series in RM so no other option to choose AVI or MKV.. beggars can't be choosers..

I disagree. At least the downloaded TVB dramas in Widescreen still looks way better than ASTRO SD in 4:3...LOL.

A lot of TVB dramas in RMVB, so no choice. Maybe i buy cheap China player....but no confidence in China product...

Any good RMVB player to recommend?

seen those TVB drama on original DVD....they dont look that good either..

there is TVB drama in 720p format, although not for all the series.

in pg, WDTV is selling for RM375 from WD product distributor.

I have an old Sharp Aquos 20" HDTV 1024x768 with no HDMI input but only component in. Can I use an HDMI-component adapter like the one selling on ebay to hook up the WDTV to my LCD? Any advice will be appreciated.

you need a video transcoder (not cheap) to convert digital (DVI/HDMI) to component..
this kind of break out cable HDMI to Component+audio.. doubt it will work (usually it works if your Video card's HDMI supports this kind custom connection) but since its so cheap worth a try kua?

since the wd tv do not has hd audio decoder, i browse around and found this product Logitech Z-5500 Digital, decode everything from DD, DTS, to TXH...
