WD TV is selling like hot cake in US now due to overwhelming response. Malaysia probably won't get it this year in normal distribution channel. For those can't wait, need to order from US. (info from WD Malaysia internal business briefing)

This is definitely poor man blu-ray player (don't have all the bell and whistle like pop corn hour), need to wait way pass Christmas before have staff purchase.

DTS audio problem.

Using Popcorn Hour Audioconverter and select Convert to Dolby Digital and Stereo.

Now playing all the ESiR ripped MKV.

thteong82, could you give me direction where to obtain popcorn hour audioconverter, quick check from net doesn't yield anything after read your post. edit: got the instructions from pop corn forum, doesn't know whether working or not, but here the link:

eh, only 20hrs doesn't log in, suddenly my nickname get mentioned a lot...

I staying in Pg, guess not much chance to do TT oredi and exchange our collection. Sadly Streamyx doesn't work like Penangfon/Metrofon network, if not, we can set up a ftp server to swap files just like Penangfon/Metrofon user.

I think for flexibility and expandability, I'm stick with HTPC. WDTV is for my old folks lah, the features from WDTV is just so much users friendly for those haven't touch computer before.

avenger, just saw your WDTV thread last nite, basing on the selling price, i think you've quite attractive pricing, at least in Pg. One computer shop in Bukit Jambul complex is selling at RM449 without keeping stock.

you have to go there yourself to get one....mind you, although they do retailing, but main business is still distribution, so don't expect they serve us like a king.

Update:

I think i found the solution to my problem. It wasn't really a blank screen, just that the video only comes on after about 30-40secs. The problem is that I had the media library set to off as my drive is full. I deleted some files and set the media library to on and the issue went away. So for those with large HDD, leave some space for the media library else you might face the same problem as i did. Hope this information will be helpful for someone else in the future. Thanks
*
toh, so fast solve problem, must be a happy man now, how much empty space you leave for media library?

when going to grab another 1TB from me... flex.gif

as far as i know, for downloaded mkv files, there is only DTS format. might want to get the full blu ray files. Please look for at least 30 GB file size, those 25GB mostly contain DTS track only.

hint: look for Max Payne, file size is about 41.08GB, got DTS-HD MA track for english language.

I'm getting a 1TB Buffalo Drive Station 3.5" for RM395. That's the cheapest 1TB external HDD I can find around Penang. Anyone knows where to get cheaper 1TB external HDDs??
*
best bang for bucks configuration is seagate 1.5TB ( have to wait still seagate sort out firmware issue) with docking station, easily RM50 cheaper every time purchase 3.5" due to no need external casing.

and yes, I download mkv files for the sake of testing my streamyx connection aslo, but I need at least 1 petabyte to have statistical significant.... cool2.gif cool2.gif
