QUOTE(BassHead2 @ Jan 7 2009, 12:51 AM) After 6 months maybe another new model for WDTV II That time price will be very cheap for WDTV Would be nice if next generation WDTV can put one harddisk internally, look more neat, without messy cables. Yep me too. Dun like the idea of all the messy cables. Should have a slot for putting in optional internal HDD...+ network port.

I dun think WD player can play DTS MA lar...only the old DD5.1 and normal DTS. Which still very good by all means...i'm not very demanding person.

Hhmmm...looks like Western D player is still superior, Seagate only play up to 1080i. Also, it doesn't support RMVB either just like WD. And no mention of MKV o H264?? The WD design is also much better. I don't see any reason to wait for this player at all.
======= One of the key features that make the Seagate FreeAgent Theater so easy to use is the number of supported Audio/Video formats. The FreeAgent Theater media player supports MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 formats, and DIVX files with video resolutions for NTSC, PAL and HD up to 1080i and even provides support for subtitles. The audio formats supported include 5.1 channel surround sound, where available, and also plays the popular digital audio formats including: MP3, WMA, WAV and OGG. To download and transfer content to the Seagate FreeAgent Go, a Windows XP or Vista operated PC is required, with 256MB RAM and an available USB port. FreeAgent Theater connects to any TV with either composite, S-video or component video and audio inputs and an AC outlet. ==============================================

QUOTE(rthj @ Jan 13 2009, 03:11 PM) rmvb quality is still pretty lame, isnt it? still have to get a separate unit to play rmvb file. I disagree. At least the downloaded TVB dramas in Widescreen still looks way better than ASTRO SD in 4:3...LOL. A lot of TVB dramas in RMVB, so no choice. Maybe i buy cheap China player....but no confidence in China product... Any good RMVB player to recommend?

QUOTE(rthj @ Jan 13 2009, 08:10 PM) seen those TVB drama on original DVD....they dont look that good either.. Err..TVB dramas in original DVD in MPEG-2 are not RMVB and i don't think they are Widescreen either. You should download some HD RMVB and see for yourself..in widescreen LCD TV. You won't see anything like it on ASTRO. Added on January 14, 2009, 4:46 pmQUOTE(JayC75 @ Jan 14 2009, 02:31 PM) Edifier S530D come with optical & coaxial input, but cant decode DD and DTS... Altec Lansing also got those THX speaker, but again more than RM1k.... Just buy a HTIB if budget constraint. Loads of goodies going around RM 1K price. QUOTE(gabanyayaya @ Jan 27 2009, 06:08 PM) this is just a dvd rip into mkv movie....350MB files. More than sufficient for me to watch latest movie without breaking my bank for buying cinema tickets..... a bluray mkv is good too but too much time wasted waiting... Good things comes to those who wait. Frankly, i don't even want to watch those 700MB files anymore...looks like pirated DVD quality. I want 5.1 surround and Hi-Def. The way it is meant to watch. Furthermore, with mkv, even re-watching the movies is fun as it's a joy just to oogle at the hi-def quality. I can wait. It took me about 1 month+ to download about 5 hidef movies...no problem. Next batch hopefully completing in another month time. PS: I do BT. Since dun have RS or MU account. Anyone knows where to buy cheap RS premium account pls PM me. TQ. QUOTE(aiman04 @ Jan 28 2009, 08:27 AM) Same thing happened to me. But after I hear to the lossless audio on BD, I'm not keen on MKVs anymore. U need hi-end receiver, speakers, BD player, and ori BD which cost $$$$. MKV can do 90% of the quality at 0.09% of the cost...

QUOTE(manchurr @ Feb 10 2009, 04:52 PM) Hye, bought mine 2 days ago @ lowyat for RM380.. I used to play all my movies/series on my laptop.. now I can play it on my 29inch LG TV. Just wondering, which movies/series files i need to download that can play best on my TV.. dvdrip or 720p or others? Thx. Actually, for 29" CRT, you don't even need WDTV...just normal AVI/DIVX player will do....The screen will be too small to see any difference.

The whole idea of having a player is NOT TO CONVERT FILES. Why waste time converting all the TVB HK DRAMAS with so many episodes??? I have an RMVB player...but no use...collecting dust...lol. WDTV is nice, but nothing beats a real HTPC.
