QUOTE(Maniac @ Jul 1 2009, 03:49 PM) normal DVD player with USB cannot play 'HD' content, as far as I know they only plays to maximum SD DVD resolution should be 720x480 (NTSC) or 720x576 (PAL), 714 x 404 is lower than that, so should be fine playing, while 768 x 432 is not. thanks bro , guess you are right as i have convert the resolution to 720x 430 and it works . if the WDTV have scaling capabilities to syncron with HD ready or full HD TV , then its worth considering at that very fair value price. save converting timeWDTV will virtually plays any resolution up to 1920 x 1080 (1080p) regardless on what TV u using nowaday. It will just scale the video to what ever best to display to your old TV, 720p LCD or 1080p LCD. This post has been edited by sunnyK: Jul 1 2009, 08:12 PM |

I think the ripper make a mistake in the title xxxx.720p.BD5.mkv
It suppose to be xxxx.720p.DVD5.mkv What it means it the rip will fit in one DVD5 disc. If it is a xxxx.720p.DVD9.mkv then the file size of the mkv can fit only into a DVD9 disc. I don't think there is anything like BD5 or BD9 at all. |

Taken from Wiki:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-ray_Disc BD9/BD5 Blu-ray Disc BD9 and BD5 are lower capacity variants of the Blu-ray Disc that contain Blu-ray Disc compatible video and audio streams contained on a conventional DVD (650 nm wavelength / red laser) optical disc. Such discs offer the use of the same advanced compression technologies available to Blu-ray Discs (including H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, VC-1 and MPEG-2) while using lower cost legacy media. BD9 uses a standard 8152MB DVD9 dual-layer disc while BD5 uses a standard 4482MB DVD5 single-layer disc.[102] BD9/BD5 discs can be authored using home computers for private showing using standard DVD±R recorders. AACS digital rights management is optional.[103] The BD9/BD5 format was originally proposed by Warner Home Video, as a cost-effective alternative to regular Blu-ray Discs.[104] It was adopted as part of the BD-ROM basic format, file system, and AV specifications. BD9/BD5 is similar to 3× DVD for HD DVDs. |

BD5.
Generally means file size small enough to covert to AVCHD format and fit onto a DVDR5. Tried it with Total Recall and played on my Panasonic Plasma 42S10K + BluRay Player BD60 and I think it is ok. Good solution if you don't want to store these HD files on harddisk or thumb drive. However, I don't think the format is popular. |

QUOTE(in_george @ Jul 3 2009, 12:22 PM) Hi ... what is currently the best offer for this player? The price is reasonable coz its inclusive a HDMI cable (albeit prolly a cheaper cable). The best i could find so far, is Compu-zone at Low Yat, selling it for RM399 with free HDMI cable. Thanks! Try Thunder Match on the top floor, they have a whole lot bunch selling at RM370, no cables. Also, you can still find the old box which comes with a HDD stand too. Happy hunting. |

Thanks for the tip, would try to lookout for the "old box", as the stand would be a nice plus.Try Thunder Match on the top floor, they have a whole lot bunch selling at RM370, no cables.
