Can this player play VCD (.dat) files as well? I am thinking of copying all the old Karaoke VDCs into one folder.

Thanks for the feedback. But if got lots of Karaoke VCDs will still take long time to convert.

No need to convert, just rename the files to .mpg cos .dat actually a mpeg file by itself.

nordingh, dat is a mpeg1 correct, but DAT should has some changes in the header compare to 'actual' mpeg1, in order to be able to played inside VCD player.

I am not sure, and cannot test (I do not have any more VCD dat) on WDTV wherther it will work by renaming.

anyway, this was what I used many years ago for my VCD files.

no need to do conversion. It can play .DAT files flawlessly, but it is not popular anymore as VCD is getting less popular nowadays.

Too lazy to convert, especially with so many old VCDs. Just copy all to Hard Disk and use with WD player. Portable karaoke machine biggrin.gif
