Hi ! I am planning to buy Hobby/Remote controlled stuffs from Hong Kong using EMS postal service and will probably be fedex / UPS / DHL.
May I know,
how do I check if something is taxable or not ?
and how much is the rate ?
Should I limit my order below RM500 ?

I've opened this site : http://tariff.customs.gov.my
but I am really confused on how to use this crappy site.

Hi I would just like to inquire what would the GST and/or import duty for:

Item: Keyboard

Cost: 74 USD (RM 315 based on current exchange rate) - this includes shipping but from the reseller and does not factor in the IATA rate and I can't seem to find the rate on the IATA's website.

Origin: US (Massdrop to be exact)

I tried to calculate this by myself based on some of the other information provided in the thread but couldn't find the IATA rate. From what I could Google the package weight is 0.90kg. I'm guessing there may be a standard 10% insurance. But correct me if I'm wrong if the CIF is below RM500 then there won't be any import duty and GST right? I really hope the IATA rate is low if that is indeed the case.

Hey guys,

I'm planning to buy a RM800 action figure from eBay USA, I'm pretty sure this will be taxed. My question is, how do I go about paying for it? I'm in Kelantan so there's no way I'm heading all the way to KL in case my item gets held. Will they pass it to Pos Malaysia and allow me to pay when it arrives at my doorstep or something? What options do I have?

Thanks!

If u buy from Amazon etc... their courier will settle the import tax for u. Your seller is a shop? Ask them to get such a courier?

6% GST if unlucky, if lucky no GST as you have already paid custom tax deposit upfront to Amazon.
