If you guys cant go, its best to appoint Poslaju I would say.

Yes only pay GST. No import duty for regular watch smile.gif You appointed courier company would usually pay GST on behalf and charge you the amount they paid + service charge, unless you have chosen other option for custom clearance

**Actual shipping cost: 52,800won

2nd package
What item? – Cup Noodle
Origin? - Korea
Gross weight (packaging)? - 8.66 kg

Instant noodle Tariff Code is 1902.30.400 which carry 8% Import duties + 6% GST (if applicable)
Both have CIF value less than RM500...can apply for duty/tax exemptions.

Thanks for the reply and advice. Although both parcels got open by custom to check content... maybe too heavy already (?) I received both parcels safely.

If I buy a laptop from Amazon US and ship back, do I need to pay for import tax & GST?

Do I need sirim certificate as well as it is electronic item?

Just in case u wondering, the exact model I want to buy is not available in Malaysia, so I am still thinking whether want to ship back from US or look for other model...Is it worth the hassle sending it back from US...

Has anybody bought rechargable batteries from overseas before?

I'm considering buying a pair of 9V Li-ion batteries with a charger. The shop is at Singapore. Will it be held in Kastam, do I need SIRIM approval?

Yes both tax and gst

Should I pay full to FedEx and go settle with custom or just argue with them in the FedEx office?

sorry, i really can't offer any advise, should be the import duty 0% instead?
is the item on hold with Custom?

why they go pay custom without your knowledge/agreement?

i know DHL does that too, pay custom first, but it was import duty 0%, so I am sort of okay, and give me a call about the fee, as their tracking, it is release by custom way earlier

https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2289735/+40

so item now under Fedex as hostage?

yeah import should be 0%

I have no idea why they pay upfront, if stuck in custom it's much easier for me to go down and explain to them but since they paid I'm not sure if I should pay them full or not cause they are just a delivery company

not hostage but they came my house and ask for the money, wasnt around so I ask my mom not to pay them :/

Hi guys,

This is the first time I ever wanted to import something from overseas. I thought everything is going to be easy breezy beautiful CoverGirl, but I found out the complexity of importing anything. I am planning to buy a handset from an oversea dealer (Hong Kong in particular) worth RM1605 (including shipping fees). I know not much about the IATA (for air mail only?), HS code, tariff etc. Could someone help me with the formula for knowing my approximate total cost if I were to ship the item to Malaysia? The official Malaysian custom webpage is really messy for me and do not inform much at all. Thanks !!!!! icon_question.gif The solution is much needed for other items that may be imported in the future.

Possible listing of costs that I can think of now are:

Invoice--- RM1605
Insurance --- RM160.50
Custom duty (0% for phones according to tariff website --- can anyone confirm this?)
Freight --- ??? (Shipping weight= 0.69kg according to dealer)
SIRIM certificate application --- ??? (RM106 estimated)
Fedex Malaysia (appointed by the dealer, I suppose it is the courier at point of import?) --- ???

So, according to the above, the formula for approx. total cost is CIF +(CIF x0%) +(CIFx6%)+ SIRIM+ courier fee, is that correct? >.<

Guys, I am buying GPU + PSU from Amazon.

Cost of items combined: US$ 245.00 (~RM960)
Cost of shipping: $38.50

Shipping company: Aramex

Guys, I really hope you can help me understand how much (if at all any) I have to pay for this.

1) Do I have to pay for the "Jadual Kos Tambang" based on the table in OP? I believe Amazon clearly outlines in the invoice the shipping cost.

2) Do I have to pay import duty fees? If yes, how much is the rate for consumer electronics?

3) Do I have to pay for any other taxes like GST? If yes, will GST be 6%?

In my case, do I have to absorb these fees, or will Amazon absorb the fees?

Thanks!
